No I dont. If I am on the back side of a side kick, and the oppenent has good hip flexibility the kick can be altered into a hook kick. If I am close enough for a trap in that situation I am open to being nailed by the kick. If I am on the front side/inside the opponent I am in a position to be hit with their follow up technique.

Defending straight-line attacks...
JAKEHE3078 replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well if it is a straight punch I like to beat them to the punch let them close the distance and come into my attack. With straight kicks I rather move to the outside to gain a line for a counter. -
Counter the round kick...

Exactly jam the kick up to negate its power. -
Aghayev is one of the best WKF competitors in his weight class, however he is starting to get caught more often especially in his takedown attempts, he is becoming predictable and people are starting to see it. Aghayev is however starting to change things up and rely more on his ducking low for a deep reverse punch, when trying to catch the other player on the down beat.

I agree good kime, focus your technique.

I sometimes fall into a pattern that will work out most of the time. I start with a basic jab and reverse punch, then a short pause to throw off the rhythm and then throw out a mid level round house to the ribs. It seems like that set up works almost every time for me.

New to sparring-I need some crucial pointers and tips
JAKEHE3078 replied to Jkoko's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Think KISS (keep it simple stupid) just go in there and use basic punches and kicks for an offense. do not force your attacks. If you see it then take it if not, like I said do not force it. Try to evade and counter as much as possible. And never plan what your going to do, its a match not a fantasy. -

people put to much emphasis on the gi and the obi, who cares as long as your knot is tied right. Just put the Obi on and train!!!. -

I feel that it can be seen as to wear your opponent down for that final blow. -
I love the my Tokon Europa but if I am competing in Kumite I have to go with either a Tokon Dynamic or an Adidas Master Gi.
-
I rather not have stripes but hey each to their own. You can most likely find it at http://kicktech.net assuming your looking for the master gi (kumite gi) with stripes.

Why worry about it one way or another. Just fluff it of and continue to train. -

WKF World Championships training regime for an athlete?
JAKEHE3078 replied to OneTwoStep's topic in Karate
Here is how I do it being that I am a Kumite player, I tend to train alot with my teammates who are on the same level as I am. We will spar for at least 10 min rounds. then each round we take two minutes off. When Im in the Dojo I focus on my basics being as clean as possible. Doing partner work in The Dojo you always have to have the attitude you are at the World Championships. Same as in sparring the upper ranks. With the lower ranks I tend to work on foot work and my weaker techniques more. or try to work a new combination. When I get better at that paticular combination then I start working it in on higher ranks. Out side of the Dojo again I will do some sport specific weight training and plyometrics. And I will watch my diet so I can have the greatest amount of energy and be able to fit into my weight division. Then about 4 days till comp I will taper down my trainig to just light Sparring and still watching my diet. P.S. Work on your take downs. Its alot easier to score a Sanbon with a take down rather then a kick. -
