  1. the 19 year old sounds good. Haha, j/k.
  2. Dorks have more fun!
  3. I want a black belt.
  4. Some of that's very true. But I think a lot of us guys welcome that kind of girl. Usually, our first response is "wow, cool." I for one much prefer the friendly kind than the other (whether we're talking friends or dating). For now, I've stopped caring about the whole date scene, anyway (I've got too many goals to reach without having to worry about getting involved with other people...I realize if I do this forever it may become too late one day...). Unless she shared most of my hobbies, it'd be difficult to work the whole time issue out... Right. I'm at the dojo every night, so unless you call training a "date"... lol.
  5. Hahaha..... course it goes the same way on the girls' side. If a girl doesn't dress in micro-dresses with plunging necklines then she won't get half as much attention as those who do. The friendly, jeans & t-shirts 'one-of-the-guys' girls are ignored.
  6. I agree 100%! Very true, very true. As for the whole elevated white blood cell count... to me it sounds like it could be leukemia. Let's pray it isn't. My thoughts are with you and your sensei and his family. Yes, that's what we were thinking. Hopefully not, though. He's gradually feeling better.
  7. If you believe in the Heaven, then everything balances out there.
  8. He didn't go to the hospital, but he got tests back and they couldn't find anything, except that he was an elevated white blood cell count. I hope it's nothing, but it's probably serious.
  9. Thanks guys! I had total brain block when writing in his card. I ended up saying something like "The dojo's not the same without your twinkling eyes and cheerful smile. I miss you!" argh. At least yesterday evening his wife said he was feeling a little better; he'd gotten out of bed and eaten half a bowl of clam chowder. He might be back in the hospital today, though. More news tonight!
  10. Please say a prayer for him. Also, I need some advice. My favorite (and master) Sensei is out this week; on Sunday he fainted and spent the night in the hospital. He is home now, but not feeling any better, and apparently nobody knows what's wrong with him. I would like to know how serious it is, etc., but at class his wife doesn't seem to want to talk about it much. So far, everything I know has been gleaned from other classmates/substitute senseis; can anybody tell me how to tactfully inquire on his condition? So far I've just asked things like "Is Sensei feeling better?" And the only response I've gotten is "Not really." I got a "get well soon" card, but couldn't think of anything to write on it besides "get well soon!", which seemed kind of impersonal considering I've been faithfully attending classes for the past 4 years... we talk and etc. and I'd like to consider us friends. Actually, he seems like a sort of uncle to me. Anyways, any help will be appreciated!!!!
  11. I can do the splits with my right leg out in front, and I can do it with my left leg in front, but I can't to the middle splits --- OW!!!! It really hurts the top of my hips! Does it hurt anyone else there? I think I could to it that way if I stretched enough, but my hips get compressed, and hurt like heck . Anyways, I stretched and stretched and stretched every day for months on end to be able to do the splits. You know, it's a lot more fun if you race someone. I raced a sensei of mine to the splits. It was a lot of fun. (I won.)
  12. Right, running away is the best option, but it doesn't always work. What if you were kidnapped? You might have to fight off someone in an enclosed area where you can't run, like a car. o_O that would be weird.....
  13. Not necessarily, my sensei owns his private dojo because karate is his hobby. He teaches classes 5 days a week, and on top of that he has a full-time job.
  14. Yeah, I would never quit MA just because it was awkward training with an ex. I sort of had that problem once and got through it; I was 14. There was this cute blackbelt at my dojo, and we both obviously had major crushes on eachother. We'd always flirt MA style (sweeping eachother, etc), until we "broke up" (but not really, because we never actually "went," but you know what I mean . Then it was awkward and really embarrassing for me because him and his new gf would go to class together and flirt the same ways we used to (arrghh....). Neither of us left the dojo; he was a blackbelt and I a purple belt that had only been there 1 year, but I was too addicted to leave because I was embarrassed. Later he broke up with her but continued ignoring me, but now we're friends and we talk a lot and stuff. We are sort of starting to have a a thing for eachother again, but we both kind of already know that it wouldn't work out. We never actually said anything, it was just sort of a mutual agreement. We never asked eachother out because we both just... I dunno, knew. lol.
  15. Hahaha! But I don't wear a top.... Just kidding. I can't do that though because it already happened once, and it's specifically stated in our dojo's rules that girls have to wear shirts under their gi tops. And besides, I wear a dojo-logo t-shirt to class, I HATE gi tops! ARGH! Maybe I should make an excuse that I'm going somewhere after class and change into a nice "fitted" shirt? hehe. Unfortunately he hasn't come to class the last week. (He has band practice some nights.)
  16. Hahahahahaha! Like starting our own wrestling club for couples?
  17. hahahahahaha! i know someone who has that problem.
  18. I go home to my girlfriend and say" guess what, I am a gay" Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Your girlfriend -- . That's too funny. "give him your number... " Where do they keep pen and paper in the middle of the dojo? Hehe, just kidding. Anyways, I go to a private dojo, so there's the main Sensei that owns the place and etc. and about 20 other senseis, only about 10 of which still train or volunteer to teach there. This guy trains and sometimes he teaches. Not exactly an instructor.... Don't worry, if he were then ... yeah I would kind of avoid grappling days. oooohh... some good points on that link monkeygirl. Thanks.
  19. you're grappling and practicing holds with cute black belt that you have a crush on, and he seems to be enjoying it? lol.
  20. I did that 3 years ago..... but maybe he's forgotten about it... Haha. But it would seem weird....lame..... out of character. Especially if I came back and took another because the first one was too blurry! LOL!
  21. Good article. I don't have a problem with bowing in class, because I see it more of as a salute. Christians don't object to saluting the American flag, taking of their hats, etc.
  22. I really like drawing, and would like to take draw a portrait of my Sensei; does anybody have any good ideas on how to take a good picture without telling him why? (If it doesn't come out good, I don't want him asking about it, haha!) Just taking a random shot seemed weird and out of character. Help!
  23. LOL! Yes, I know it was rather off. I don't know how that happened. (He had short legs? ) Maybe it was my subconcious saying "higher, higher!" lol. Yeah, glad I missed. That's a scary thought..... I was a small kid myself!
