I think blindfolds work fine for gaining balance, and improving your consistency in your stances... but s far as improving the sensitivity of your other faculties i seriously doubt it in the long term. The improvement you get from removing a sense compeltely for extended periods of time is only temporary, as once you regain the lost sense for a period, your brain will make judgements based on its input for certain things, adn the other senses will not remained heightened.

ISKA? kempo im guessing. Yeah i go up to tournies and will judge for sparring and stuff [line and mirror] and do corner scoring. Need to do one more course before I can do patterns scoring.... Congrats as well

Yeah MAs not everyones cup of tea - or whatever teh american expression for that is So long as they're keeping active i dont think it would really matter. Most sport / physical activities encourage similar traits in children, just MA is probably a bit more geared towards the restraint / respect side which isnt always ideal for kids that just want fun a lot of the time [speaking from recent experience as i joined as a child - and am 19 - so remember it well]

Thanks; i agree also - well said -
£16 pounds a week or month? Either way its still better value than what you were looking at .... £16 for 3 hours : again depends on the quality of the training; class size; student quality, etc.

I would imagine any special forces group would not train in a certain style - they would probably use the training tecnique from many styles - along with other stuff - remember they wouldnt be training to "defend" themselves in quite the same way we do - so i doubt they would practice something you could look at and say "yeah thats defintiely [insert MA here];". Also you hear a lot of stuff going round saying "[special forces from country x] practice [insert MA here]" - i always question those sorts of claims specially if it continues with "and only that MA" - why would special forces of any level limit themselver to 1 style - as we all know all styles have some sort of flaw....

Reading definitely a good start - tehre are a HUGE number of good boooks out there about stretching; exercise, and the scientific principles behind them. I only really started getting in really looking at how and why stretches / exercise works recently, and just reading ive found out a lot; but like all things there is a LOT of junk out there with people trying to make a quick cash from people who want quick results
