  1. I think blindfolds work fine for gaining balance, and improving your consistency in your stances... but s far as improving the sensitivity of your other faculties i seriously doubt it in the long term. The improvement you get from removing a sense compeltely for extended periods of time is only temporary, as once you regain the lost sense for a period, your brain will make judgements based on its input for certain things, adn the other senses will not remained heightened.
  2. Hee Il Cho would be cool, just for the experience - he seems pretty intense
  3. ISKA? kempo im guessing. Yeah i go up to tournies and will judge for sparring and stuff [line and mirror] and do corner scoring. Need to do one more course before I can do patterns scoring.... Congrats as well
  4. hehe - fight the system On a slightly obscurely related note for conversion go to google and write in in i.e. 216lbs in kgs or 1.34acres in hectares etc. cna be done with almost any units - so long as they work together (i.e. miles wont go into litres, etc.)
  5. middle high low high side kick; hook kick [continuous - can u tell i do tkd]
  6. yeah - the flips are cool, but i guess thats the way of most fight seens - bit more flashy and heavily coreographed
  7. yeah self defense - "point + shoot" lol.... although i wouldnt really want to get up close with one in all honesty...
  8. Yeah MAs not everyones cup of tea - or whatever teh american expression for that is So long as they're keeping active i dont think it would really matter. Most sport / physical activities encourage similar traits in children, just MA is probably a bit more geared towards the restraint / respect side which isnt always ideal for kids that just want fun a lot of the time [speaking from recent experience as i joined as a child - and am 19 - so remember it well]
  9. good luck with the essay : hopefully you'll more than barely pass - but either way its still a pass Hope it all goes well
  10. Id vote MT just because of the way it trains - and the mindset it encourages...
  11. lol - political correctness rises its head again
  12. I guess whatever we say its stil speculation - i dont think anyone has actually met him from this board well - feel free to correct me!!
  13. Yeah - you really wonder what doctors were doing to spend time coming up with that conclusion?
  14. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05/30/pointy_knives_can_kill/ Try looking at that article - he he
  15. ikg = 2.2lbs
  16. Thanks; i agree also - well said
  17. £16 pounds a week or month? Either way its still better value than what you were looking at .... £16 for 3 hours : again depends on the quality of the training; class size; student quality, etc.
  18. didnt even know it was on
  19. ok thats a hell of a lot cheaper than i find books for - i think ill have to start shopping around now!!
  20. I would imagine any special forces group would not train in a certain style - they would probably use the training tecnique from many styles - along with other stuff - remember they wouldnt be training to "defend" themselves in quite the same way we do - so i doubt they would practice something you could look at and say "yeah thats defintiely [insert MA here];". Also you hear a lot of stuff going round saying "[special forces from country x] practice [insert MA here]" - i always question those sorts of claims specially if it continues with "and only that MA" - why would special forces of any level limit themselver to 1 style - as we all know all styles have some sort of flaw....
  21. fujita san just out of interested - what set of TKD forms have you tried?
  22. how can you watch TOO much johnny bravo?
  23. Reading definitely a good start - tehre are a HUGE number of good boooks out there about stretching; exercise, and the scientific principles behind them. I only really started getting in really looking at how and why stretches / exercise works recently, and just reading ive found out a lot; but like all things there is a LOT of junk out there with people trying to make a quick cash from people who want quick results
