My opinion is that movies ruin it for martial artists. People think Karate is a whole bunch of backflips and hi ya wahh! but it's not. Sure it takes skill and talent to do backflips for a camera but it ruins it for real artists
My opinion is more the opinion of the person. If a student doesn't do well and the instructor corrects them, the student might resent it. However, if you do well, you don't get corrected and you like the instructor.
It's kinda scary, especially because I am small, but just think, you wont get killed. It's about trying your best-sounds corny I know but if You just try, the outcome is suprising.

Is the crane stance the same one as done in the Karate kid? Just wondering. i've never done it (except for when my friends and I are goofing around) but I want to know more about this
Never seen it although at my dojo, on the written test for my black belt, one of the questions was the philosophy of Shotokan and it was "one punch kills"
I study Shotokan and personally enjoy it, however, it all depends on you. I've done tournaments with goju people and they are Very good. However, since i've never studied goju, i have no idea which is "better". So good luck w/ your decision.
I'm not even 16 and I'm committed. I had 4 yrs perfect attendence until I joined the adults class (at which point, there is no more perfect attendence award)
Is kicking to the face or stomach better? We have face control rules so I dont want to go for the face but the stomach is well guarded. How shuld I attack?
