  1. I have seen him fight in a sparring, when he introduced fuld contact sparring, to the Western world. And he used high kicks, I think he did it quite often. If you see "game of death"(a multilevel movie, as he called it. that was where he really showed his way of fighting on purpose). In the last fight with Dan isanto. he jumpy like stepped around Dan a couple of times in a very relaxing way. also in the last fight against Chuck Noris in "Way of the Dragon". If you have ever seen the film "Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey", you will see the game of death, how Lee really intended it to be. And it is a completely other film than the one you have seen first. In the fight in the movie scene you didnt see entirely that which was originally meant to show just how his way was Superior to others. So it wasnt just a film. And like I said before. His book tells to step in a jumpy way of relaxation. But I believe you have answered my question. "Is JKD being tought like the Bruce Lee way or as brutal street fight." sounds like its not my style afteral . Thanks
  2. My Shifu teaches the other guy. The one who teaches me is about one grad over Shiqon(the one who helps my teacher if he cant make it), or whats it called. I just cant remember the name of my teacher. I just know it sounds stupid though. I think he has the black with red stripes belt. The classical kung fu belts, silk like belt hanging by the side. Maybe first dan. just a quess.
  3. Its 16:51...Dont know if you know what that is in America or where else you live. Okay im back now. hope you are still online. Back to the essue. although my teacher is a real PAIN and has a bad memory. He has studied the style for many years. He hasnt trained any other kung fu styles so I guess thats why he doesnt know about the name Sifu. And by the way...Did I tell you that hes a real pain in the *? and that me and my friends whos studeing there also dislike him? Hope for your sake that You have have got a better teacher where you train. I have never heard of that name "cheung kuen". But then again,,, I dont know very much about the names of Long Fist, Just what they mean. But hey, Lets get to the bottom of this. And by the way. Please write something in the JKD Topic I made.
  4. I asked my teacher if My style was Hung Gar ones because Jackie Chan studied that...No matter. But He Told Me that it was Long fist. Now I seriously doubt He didnt Know what he was talking about. I have more to write But im being throne out of the school because they are closing up. Il get back to it in about half an hour.
  5. You are partly right. My style IS Long Fist.
  6. Yeah maybe, but his book was telling you move around and sayid how to do it aswell. he strived to make his films realistic, and he was using films to show his ways and philosofys to the world. So they verent just films but also a way to comunicate to the world. And that was also his intentions.
  7. Your right about that you also fight in close quarter. But northern(like my style) styles is trained more with distance than southeren styles. In northern styles(or atleast that which im traning) you go in deep stance so you can reach longer, and then hit with you punch from distance. Maybe Long also means something with water, but in this case it is refered to as Dragon. Long=Dragon Quang=Fist and if im not mistaking Pai means Style. Although I think Long quan pai it is called White dragon style or fist.
  8. No it was my current teacher. Cant remember what hes called, but its something you cant take serious . Im not so lucky to be training with Shifu.
  9. See "Enter the Dragon" and "Way og the Dragon". And read his book "Tao of Jeet Kune Do" and you will change you mind. As I said. his book tells you to move around freely and easy without doing it as hard word. So its not like Kickboxing, but more like small tripping. I have heard the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune DO. So maybe Its because you arent practicing his way. Not to correct you or anything, just a thought.
  10. Thanks that helped. But one of the basics of JKD is the jumping Around, Loosly and easily.
  11. "Im not sure if that school is anywhere near you dippedappe, but its in Denmark so thats a good start". There is jeet kune do in kobenhagen but thats a pretty long drive for me. But its worth it if its what i want. But still I didnt get the answer I wanted...not that I dont appriciate your posts, so thanks for your answers.
  12. Yeah. I would like to know that to?
  13. My style is long fist and it comes from the northern parts of china. it works like this. Its called Long Quan Pai and means white dragon fist...or something like that. In it you have to do like the name says(Long Fist). You have to hit from a distance:D. Unlike wing chun, hung gar and all the other southeren styles your use wery low stance. And very hi and fansy Kicks. All the sounthern styles use more hand tekniks. Thats about it that I know of them:).
  14. When I say Sifu at my klub, Im concettered a looney. Or maybe its because it called sifu in southern styles, and shifu in northen. Is it called sifu in Hung Gar? I wish it was called Sifu in my style...it just sounds cooler.
  15. I was wondering if anyone here at this forum was studying Jeet Kune Do. If that be the case, then I would like to know if it looks like the way Bruce Lee did it, You know, the way his jumping around? Or is it more like a brutal streetfighting way of fighting? Ive Been dabling in the art myself. But its only by reading Bruce Lees books. I cant find any teacher here in little Denmark.
  16. The shaolin strait sword and broadsword. But my favored of all weapons is the Sai...How I wish it was a Chinees weapon instead of japenees. Please forgive my spelling problems.
  17. but what does those words "Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to" mean? And why isnt it called sifu in my kung fu school?
  18. I wrote my favored for the subject, Actually the some words of my reply wasnt serius. It had nothing to do with what you wrote. But what i wrote about the fastest and all that, I have read from other books and magasines not written by Bruce Lee.
  19. In my chosen style(northern shaolin longfist). The best teacher(theres many names) is called Shifu. But in wing chun and some other kung fu or wushu styles I have heard the name Sifu...So I asked my teacher if theres a name called Sifu, and he said no. Whats the difference betwine the two names, and why is it that its in some styles and not in other styles?(I heard in the old drunken master movie with Jackie Chan, the name Shifu...atleast I think it was, although it sounded more like Shifa). Is it because that Shifu is madarin and sifu is cantonice or what?
  20. I disagree(or maybe I didnt understand what you said). JKD IS a philosophy BUT. It was based on interception and absolut freedom. Every fighter who uses his own teknik, cant be consetered a JKD man. f.ex... A JKD man must move flowing, and free like water by doing economicel jumping like movements(Im not talking about the kickboxing way of jumping). And you are supposed to use you tools in all positions, instead of the klassikel way of being in this position, you will be able to do this and this but not this. You can also use the word "simplify" or what you wrote " discard that which doesnt work for them". But there are other aspects in it than just that. However. Later he said that even his JKD was to limited, so he discarted it.
  21. Why Bruce Lee ofcause!? He was propebly the fastes fighter that time, heck, even the karate masters was unsure when he had to show of his beloved Jeet Kune Do. Plus he knew what he was talking about. Dont fight it...you know his the best!
