  1. Don't do the things one sided.. what i did was for kicking for example... i did one kick with the left and then one kick with the right, left, right, left, right. One each side. Also practice with targets, that helps a lot too.
  2. Yes, I Does look good in the web site. You should definitive go down look in person. I maybe don't check it right, but they dont mention anything about the instructors. When you go for a visit, ask them to show there certificates and Ranks.
  3. Okay, You don't have too much time to be together and you take M.A. lessons for the chance to share. I can understand yes. Well, Its up to you girl. Im not really sure what else i can advice you. I just don't believe in staying in a place just to please my couple. I'd be unhappy and depressed as you are now. All i can say is Try to talk to him again about changing Dojangs... There MUST be a balanced Dojang with classes of both self Defense and Sparring. Keep looking and in the mean time, stay in Judo. Good luck.
  4. larryJf, excuse me. But she isn't talking about breaking up with her boyfriend to do M.A. She's talking about training in a diferent School. Besides, i feel she already made a sacrife staying in that place she doesn't like to be. Laurie, im sorry for asking you this, I just need to understand your dilema a little bit better. You just see him in the dojang? i mean, is That the ONLY time you have to be together, Are your working hours too demanding that you don't got to see eachother any other time?
  5. I'd say to stick with one because you are a white belt. Go and see the Chinese Boxing school and if you like there more. Then do that. But try to stick with one until you build up very good and strong basics. And im agree with the idea of choosing as a second art to crosstrain, An Art that is oposite to what you are already learning. Chinese Boxing and Karate are striking Arts so the better choice to crosstrain is taking a Grappling Art like Judo,Jiu-jitsu, etc...
  6. You like to know more about Combat Hapkido. Then you should look at the Grandmaster web-page. https://www.ichf.com In that link, you'll find all the info about combat hapkido.
  7. Don't look me.. I've always said that grappling is important in your martial arts curriculum. And if you are a grappler then you must learn how to strike-period. Both are equaly important.
  8. Be Quick and Protect your head. Use feints as Bonny says and train a lot.
  9. You show knowlege of the techniques (teorically and practially) and then randori/spar/roll.
  10. Well since you seem to not have any other options and you want to learn Karate, then go ahead and try. Keep in mind that you won't learn the art from a book. Keep your goals realistic. Maybe, you can even find a class for free on College gyms. YMCA offers Karate classes at ridiculous affordable prices. Comunity Centers offer karate took. Also, you can place an Ad on a message board asking for a training partner. That way you can find a person who do karate and doesn't want to train alone, that may help. Hey, even look around on basketball fields, you can see little Karate groups training there on weekends. Just don't give up and look around. Oh by the way, If you are going to buy books with the intention of learning from them, then i advice you to get the following books that were MADE for persons to learn from them. Dynamic Karate (basics) Best Karate vol. 1,2,3,4,5. (basics and Kata) Practial Karate (self defense) All by Masatoshi Nakayama. I don't know much about karate videos (becuase you may need to SEE the techniques in motion, not just pictures of them) But you can try with the videos by Tsunami. They have videos about Shotokan and other karate styles. All this products you can get them in https://www.amazon.com Good Luck.
  11. Reality fighting events are contest with a set of rules.. People go there and fight for money. That's not a Martial Art style. People who go to compete use martial arts for fights. But the Reality Fight/MMA/NHB/ Aren't martial Arts. The people who compete there are Fighters, not all of them are martial artists in all the extension of the word. They see the martial arts as Tools to help them in competition and not as a way of life. Isshinryu kid. If a person doesn't do kata doesnt mean that person is Less martial artist, In fact, there are many TRADITIONAL martial arts that doen't have Kata either.
  12. "Sub enters to the room and bows to the TKD stylist" hmmm... Where Am I? "Sub, bows and leave"
  13. It will take you a while, a couple of years, but you can do it. You may end been better in one than in the other two. But, its up to you, if you have all the time that i needed to learn 3 martial arts, then go ahead. As long as you are happy doing it.
  14. Kali/escrima may be another good choice.... they do weapons and hand to hand combat training, punching, kicking, trapping, etc...and also they train groundfighting too. The MMA place seems to have problems with there techniques curriculum, they not seem to be organized yet.
  15. Very good site indeed!! Thanks
  16. Taekwondo Ho shin Sul Kwan (eclectic) 1. Groundwork 2 2. Trapping, Throws, Takedowns 1.5 3. Infighting Elbows, Knees, head 1.5 4. Punching 3 5. Kicking 4 6. Weapons 0
  17. Im not sure if Zero was joking but he has a point. With surch little time, you have to be agressive. Go there and set a fight for YOU. Set your Style, your distance and your peace. Don't get the other to take the lead. Of course, be physically prepared because been agresive means you have to spend a lot of energy.
  18. VERY informative post Kirves! I guess that if you want to do Ninjutsu, you better stick with the Togakure ryu Bujinkan organization. Its the only Legit organization i've heard about.
  19. Avoid at all cost any potential trouble situation... that way, you'll be safe 99% of the times. Now, if for some reasons you HAVE to use force, Then i'll say, stick with basics. Remember isn't quantity But quality what it counts, At yellow belt, you at least know a Front kick, side kick, a couple of punches, etc... That techniques are simple and if you train hard you can make them work. And of course, you can always Add the Old Art of RUN-Do. lol that will help you even better sometimes.
  20. RUN-Do: The art of NOT getting your buttkicked. The people who master this art are invincible... If you can't get caught, you can't be beaten, and if you can't be beaten, you are invincible.!!!!
  21. Nudity Links Posted here???!!!! Oh that's not good at all, what never does a person have to post nude hot girls in this forums. Shame, Shame.. I guess i'll have to look for those links, watch the pictures carefully so i can disaprove that kind of post. lol Nude Womans pics aren't allowed in this forums. BUT if you can't resist, P.M. me the links!!! lol
  22. In a hostile environment that include multiple attackers???!!! What did you get into that problem in the first place!!! The best self defense is avoid dangerous situation. and if you get into THAT kind of problem you mention. Nothing better Than GUN-do, and if you don't have one or just don't like carry weapons, Well, the Oldest and More natural technique you have is the old Ancient effective Art of RUN-do. lol
  23. I had an experience about this lately... Never Post anything Against BRUCE LEE!!! lol I also think that any post from a closeminded individual IS a troublemaker lol
