  4. i am currently a member of the following: aau, itf, ctf, deutschen jka-karate bundes. others in the past: gtf, wtf, matf, naska
  5. i like to start of with a good faint. see how he/she reacts then take that and use it against them. i like to make the first move for this reason. a convinsing feint can do wonders in opening up your opponent. fake a front kick to the groin, they move to block and have fun using their face as a punching bag.
  6. i took me 8 years to get my first black belt in tkd. i went twice a week ten months out of the year. that was over 10 years ago. this year i hope to test for another stripe on the tkd belt and next summer i hope to test for a seperate bb in shotokan.
  7. log in automatically random on the forums
  8. well you could check out https://www.choongsil.com they have a listing of schools in the florida area. this is the non-olympic style of taekwondo.
  9. radok 1997 chuck norris was first non-korean to recieve 8th dan in tkd in the western hemisphere. however, i do not know from which federation or orginization.
  10. since we only get to see a certain aspect of a martial art in the olympics i think that sometimes it gives itself a bad name or look. if you can not show all of it then do not show any of it. example tkd is more than just kicks and judo is more than just throws. all or nothing is what is think.
  11. cloud dragon first of all i like your signature. money and politics go hand in hand. with the organizations that i have and am involved with this is a big problem. i realiye the business aspect of ma but it just seems that the money issue gets out of hand to often. two examples...wtf high ranking member found guilty of embezzlement. itf founder dies then his "disciples" can not make up there minds on whom should run the organization. there answer split of and form another alphabet soup organiyation.
  12. well i got kicked out of the ring, over a chair, and into another competitor in the ring behind me. that got a lot of people's attention and mine too. in case you are wondering he did not get the point. my payback was a jump spin hook kick to the head.
  13. i do or have competed in the following: wtf, itf, ctf, gtf, natl, ustf, matf, ata, naska, iska, aau i think that is all of them.
  14. in the dojo its karate as a martial art on the street its karate as self defense in a tournament its karate as a sport Kicks you make a good point on your idea on competition
  15. 10 best styles for self-defense...depending on the situation as follows: 1) negotiation 2) walking away 3) getting a police officer 4) the sound of a gun cocking 5) if need be using the gun 6) using your surrondings 7) ground fighting trapping 9) joint locks 10) being able to punch or kick with devastating rusults. these are in no particular order but i have found walking away and negotiating the best
  16. bruce lee, a topic that will never come to a close. who in hear would want to fight him? assuming he was alive and 30 years old. i agree he is the most famous as for the greatest warrior or fighter...go read some history books.
  17. fundemantally nothing politically everything
  18. take that back, i am both. i clicked to fast sorry. learning is full time job and teaching is helps fund my learning.
  19. this is a quality versus quantity question. if you like it then keep doing it. you are not paying an extreme amount in my opinion. i would say average. do you enjoy it? do youi feel like you are learning? do not worry about aother people telling you that you are paying too much or even too little. in case you are wondering, like this matters, i pay about $70 a month and my next testing fee will be about $400 (black belt) and i have no problem with what i give out to my martial art. it all comes back in the end.
  20. if the only reason you want to take tkd is to learn more kicks, you have wasted your training thus far. if you are unhappy with your school and its teachings than find another school. i think you will find that when you leave your kenpo school for a tkd school you will not learn the kicks you think you will learn. try taking the kicks you do know and modify them. example. jumping, spining, turning, jump spin, jump turn, jump 360 and so forth. and if you are trying to go the xma route, well good luck.
  21. the jumping split kick is difficult...half twist kick and half side kick. also the 540 jump round kick is not that easy. but in all reality most of the acrobatic kicks are hard. but the jump slit kick is in one of my patterns. other than that the rest are not that difficult for me.
  22. i once kicked a fellow student threw a wall because i lost my temper. it was very embarrassing and i was ashaimed of my actions. my instructor had a long conversation with me after class. i have never lost my temper in class ever since.
  23. i agree with luckykboxer. it should fit comfortably if ít does not find one that does.
  24. General Choi the founder of takwondo was asked this same question and his answer was as follows: "taekwondo and karate are not related and are two entirely different martial arts. Thai boxing and karate are different martial arts as well as chinese kung fu. don't be confused playing with a ball does not mean that it is soccer, basketball, or baseball. each has its own purpose, method, and thorn." interview can be found on the legacy cd-rom. i hope this helps a little.
  25. for me bo staff first then escrima sticks.
