Samurai Shotokan

Umm i wasnt asking about the style i wanted to know if it was a real kata thats all. Its a nice looking traditional style kata( even if you say its made up) My only regret is that is to short.Its not like he did like 7 backflips and spinning roundhouse kicks for a showy kata thats good considering it was put in a video game

Heihachi kata what is it?I know he does Okinawan karate but i dont know what his kata is. Does anyone know what it is called because i like it and i want to see if i can get a video of someone actually doing it because it is a nice kata.

I mean come on. I was watching the Last Samurai with my friends and when the ninja attack occured he said it was like the Emporer told the Chinese ninjas to get the Samurai!!!. when Tom was pretending to do forms my brother asked if i knew what he was doing and my other friend said its japanese but karate is chinese(ok to some degree he is right). I mean some people dont even know the difference between the Arts.When will people stop thinking Van Damme movies are the real thing as well. so feel free to tell some stories on how people are misinformed

I was wondering how you train for something like that is it something like that is it similiar to the training in Kill Bill Vol 2( just as an example). So how do you train exactly for this punch?

Are they Durable? are they useful in self-defense situations?

I have what Shorinyu Sensei has but i dont carry it often. Is it called a kubutan because i always thought it was something else.

Its a nice blade and everything but i see alot of negative reviews though the blade is made of carbon steel that is forged but i dont know why but they always say its weak and is banned in practices mine doesnt feel dangerous a practise swinging it and it feels extremely secure. The handle is made with some plastics that makes it weaker than other swords if somebody can prove to me that they are weak for traditional cutting practises make a video and show me!! Its easy to keep saying that and compare it to a of 15 000 dollars sword than something affordable some people make them sound like there Go karts compared to a real car

What about the solar plexus it hurts like hell being hit there. Isnt it just a larger area than other pressure points? Its also dangerous because it disrupt your breathing and can put you in cardiac(sp?) arrest

Is the Hanwei Practicial Katana good for cutting and stuff? Im not in Kendo or anything like that yet but im not the type who swings blades wildly. How I came across this sword in the first place was I was in Reliks(a sword store) and i was looking at the decorative blades then I saw a black Katana next to a Samurai armor Statue( a big one full size) so I looked at the katana thinking it was decorative until it was removed from the saya and the blade looked amazing needless to say i bought the sword mostly for decoration. What im asking is it a good "starter sword" mind you i would like to show people how sharp it is for demostartion purposes cus they need to know plus alot people ALWAYS ask that the only want to do demo cuts thats what my main use of the blade will be even though it would be rare but still All in all the Sword is great

I think websites are good for reference like katas i dont have anyone in my family that knows it aside from me so it helps me remember it better From a business view I really not to sure of how to put it

Well I ask my sensei's tonight we do have both Heians taught latter im only orange right now( cut me a little slack) Anyway about Nasashio(sp) and Shio I are from Wado-ryu Karate as I heard we just get taught them early thats all Shio I is hard to explian but here goes Bow and go in to a Horse Stance turn into another 90 degrees to your left with a throught grab and punch do another turn so your facing where you bowed do a chamber punchand another one until you end up where you bow then turn right in a female horse stance with a backfist then kick do land in a forward stance double punch do the same with the left side and thats a far as i can explain it im still learning it too

I only have two 10 pound wieghts to work with i have no other equipment like that so is there i can use these that will benifit my punching power So does anyone know I wieght training routine that i can do with these to benifit my karate?

I agree with Teal I am a small guy with like no build and if i spar with someone twice my size and with some muscle I dont think ill be able to hurt him if need be. Btw I heard the human skull fractures or breaks at about 1200 psi is this true? I am just curious not like im gonna go out and harm anyone

Shorin Ryu Sensei Our club doesnt teach Heian Nidan (till black so I heard) and Heian Sandan about heian sandan im not sure but i will ask shihan this thursday but different clubs and organizations teach different stuff even in the same style and all i know about Shio I is that it mean Four Corners

Is there any other Shotokan schools that teach these katas instead of heian Nidan and Sandan. To my knowledge heian Nidan is taught at black though even though I learn Heian Godan after Shio I. I also want to learn theses katas though why doesnt my school teach it!? And where did these other katas come from and is there any videos on the net i can use for reference?

Umm thanx for the replys guys. Well I live in Canada and I know that somethings arent sold here dont ask me why. I think after watching Rocky 3 with th Russian got me thinking about this and the kick from XMA. I know that Rocky punch was total Hollywood Macho Im Big Tough Guy * but i wanted to get the pad you are talking about it gives me something to shoot for in my punches and kicks

for me usally i think brick breaking does motivate me to train I know its sounds stramge but it pumps me up and rock and roll and dont forget the ladies EDIt: what I mean to say is watching Brick break I think its just cool So what keeps you going in MA?
