  1. If I had it my way, seriously, I would either teach a children's class or not teach at all. But my sensei's dojo is rather new, so he is desperate for teachers. I feel bad for him and for the students because, seriously, who of all of us would want to be taught by a teenager!!
  2. WHAT DO I KNOW, IM ONLY 15!!!
  3. Dude, don't talk to me about not teaching correctly. I've talked to everyone about this, I'm not this whiney little brat that you all think I am. You are a good example of what i am talking about TKD!! Listen to yourself!
  4. I think everyone should be treated equally, but you might want to pay a little more respect to the higher ranks. I have been disrespected because of my age but i kinda expected that to happen because it is human nature. [ This Message was edited by: Patrick on 2002-02-02 06:51 ]
  5. I really don't think that getting an HIV test would be neccesary for the martial arts unless you know that you might bleed. Then definetly I would get one. By the way, welcome to Karateforums.com myosim! http://roninx.netfirms.com/ph.jpg
  6. I would have gotten pretty mad if there was a young person trying to make everyone do things he can't! I have talked to my instructor about changing my assisting class to a children's class. He said that I was one of the most mature teenagers at the dojo and i work really hard, and he says he is giving me a privelage. PRIVELAGE!!! I'm being disrespected my underranks for being younger. I really don't blame the underranks for this, I just want to teach a different class. http://roninx.netfirms.com/ph.jpg
  7. Congrats, Patrick. That beez cool [ This Message was edited by: Patrick on 2002-02-01 05:05 ]
  8. Do you all think that age in martial arts makes a big difference. I am 15 and my sensei tells me to teach the adult classes. It feels like i am being ridiculed for being a teenager and it really bugs me because I feel that all the lower ranks disrespect me just because i am a youth. Some people don't even pay attention to me. I have given push-ups for people not paying attention, but they keep disrespectiong me, any suggestions? http://roninx.netfirms.com/ph/jpg
  9. Thats rather weird...I have heard similar laws in guarding your home, like if the guy is in your house, you can shoot him but if he is running out of the house you can't. I don't know if that is similar but it is a pretty screwed up law, by the way, I DONT HAVE SCHOOL TODAY!!!!! Oh yeah, and check my cool sig: http://roninx.netfirms.com/ph.jpg
  10. Oh yeah, by the way, !!!GOOD LUCK!!!
  11. Hey Iron!! I really wouldn't be concerned with the 60% power rule because the refs will most likely be very lenient with the competitors on this rule. I mean, come on, they really dont know how hard someone can hit! I would try to hit no harder than 80%. On the other rule, just dont hit em in the face!
  12. Sorry i made it so blunt of a topic, hmmmm....I guess i am kinda talking about soft styles and Hard style diferences.......Doesnt this guy look like he is amish??? <-------

  20. i agree with Anonymous that weights will strengthen your kicks. I went to the local Target a while back and got me some leg weights. It feels weird after you have worn them a while. To strengthen my sidekicks i just started doing them in slow motion. It seemed to work because my sidekicks are very fast and strong now. i can now break 5 1-in boards with my left sidekick. I'm proud of myself!!
  21. I know very little about the differences of chinese and Japanese/Okinawan martial arts. Pretty much the only difference i know is that most Chinese martial arts are mostly soft styles! I would really enjoy having more knowledge in this matter. If someone could give all of us some info i would really appreciate it! Thanks
  22. Welcome to the best forum ever KARATEFORUMS.COM!!!!!!!!!
  23. It kinda erks me that there are way too many children at our dojo (dojang). I mean it's not that bad but having too many kids (like 5/1!!) Is really annoying, especially when they don't listen. I try to teach them but they can't get it in their heads... oh well, I don't have any kids yet so thats probably why I am still nervous around kids (but not girls!! ). What the heck am i talking about, im only 15!!!!
  24. ...too...many...words!!! jk. I think changing katas is wrong and right in some ways. It's wrong because it is stealing from the other style, but it could be right if people could tweak it for a competition of some sort and add a little improvisation....maybe!!
