Mastertae, if you could send me some information on Hsing Yi I would really appreciate it. I have been wondering about Hsing Yi for a while. -
What happened last night in Taekwondo
Phantasmatic replied to Jack's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Man, deep story, I would not have walked out, but i have different feelings toward an act like that from an instructor. They can tell me what to do. I might not like it but it is what they said. The most drastic thing I would do would be to just not come to class for a while.....IMHO. -
Is shimpo Madayoshi still alive, and (if you know) please tell me where he studies.

Prodigy has a good answer to that question!! -
Think were your hands are when you are just walking on the streets, usually near your waist. Also when you practice punching from your hips your punches will become stronger and faster for a real fight where your hands are up near your chest.

Age and the Martial Arts
Phantasmatic replied to three60roundhouse's topic in Instructors and School Owners
360, that is probably the best way to go about it because it makes the children think, ya know. I really wish we had those at our dojo, my sensei doesn't get out much. Maybe I should tell him about that! -
should young kids do a martial art?
Phantasmatic replied to kickbuttnat's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I think if you have a young child that cannot take the discipline of a well kept dojo, the parent should teach (if he or she has the right to). IMHO. -
A tape would be a pretty good reference to have for pressure points.

Age and the Martial Arts
Phantasmatic replied to three60roundhouse's topic in Instructors and School Owners
For us we cannot give a a legal child a black belt. You must be 18 years of age before we give anyone a black belt. I know many people that are in TKD and are taught by 8-10 year olds. They all quit! (I mean no disrespect to the art of TKD, I was in it!) -
I have the same thing going on as doug, my style of okinawan karate has many and i use my sensei as a reference. I would try to use google.com or another search engine for that.

Yes, he is Mr. Satan in the Jap version. We do weightliftng at school here in Dunlap and my friend was benchpressing a measly 135 pounds when he expelled some air from his glutius maximus (otherwise called a fart[sorry, I'm immature]) and everyone pointed at him and laughed. I kinda felt bad! ....I like pie.

Has anyone been to the Chicago World Championships? I went to it and have earned the right to be called World Champion (So says my sensei) I really don't know if I do because There was only 60 people in my division (13-17). I think there is more than 60 martial artists that are between the ages of 13 and 17! Do you think I have the right to be called a World Champion, please give some input!

WOW, some other people other than me train in water. We have a pool where we swim and I use the diving board for balance. I also do some stance training and kiba-kimedachi.
