  1. As soon as the engine in put in I will be driving my(paid for) 1968 FJ-40 Toyota Landcrusier.
  2. I think fist push-ups are in the top 3! Ironberg I am going to try your gripper suggestion. Good call Garth! (ramymensa)
  3. Disciple Hi, I too am trying to learn more about TCC, from what I have read and the people I've talked to the more practice one does the more of TCC marvels reveal themselfs to a practioner. It's soft because it dosen't use the external force of the muscles. It relies apon the internal chi, once cultivated, then issued to the intention of ones mind, through which ever technique used. It's not the ability to shoot lazer-beams out of ones eye's or lightning bolts from your fingertips, but a controlled manifestaion of internal energy, applied. I think it's a very interesting art and I value everyones opinion on the subject. I only wish I had a time machine and my video camera, what things the old masters must have done !
  4. To date I have invested aprox. 3,500.00 in lessons, literiture, weapons, uniforms, etc... Not to bad
  5. Hi, Welcome to KF !
  6. Hi, I've never heard of it. Where does Krav Maga originate from ? What makes it unique, stands apart from the others ? I agree also that 1 hour is not much time.
  7. If your just starting, yeah, that's too much. Are you only training in Muay Thai ?
  8. I used to , thinking it was helping me in some way, but then like Rich67 says , maybe it just sounded cool. I stopped and I've had no problems because of it, if anything my back feels better.
  9. Thanks, I see I've posted in the other one, I must be getting sleepy.
  10. I didn't know Luckyboxer, where is it ? I'll go look. Thanks for the heads-up.
  11. I don't carry any weapons, but I'm not against using what ever is laying around. You guys ever see one of those Cannon-ball movies where a guy is punching a much bigger guy in the gut and getting know-where, then another small guy comes along and racks the guys shins with a 2x4 causing him to bend over then the guy cracks him over the head, knocks him out and looks at the other guy and says " you wouldn't last 2 minutes in New York City".
  12. Hi Russ, Welcome to KF !
  13. Hi, Welcome to KF !
  14. How about Hakie-sack for eye-foot coordination, a speed-bag work out for eye-hand, and I agree with dratix. Weight, weather it's wrist and ankle, or a ruck sack or a sled while you run; which brings to my mind hills and lots of them. Swimming with weights. How about those ummm dog leads with the springs, you could set up a harness that is attached to a wall or a fence and practice your offensive attacks. You will be pulled backwards when you moved forward, then take it off, try the same moves and I'll bet you get there much faster.
  15. Thanks chylaxin for posting this article it brings many questions to my mind. Being as honest as we can with ourselfs, Should we as a whole start asking questions from our schools at the least or demanding from our legislation represenitives to not only train in such a manner but to use it if neccessary. Insurance for the schools, teachers, and students would be another issue. Would training in this manner (real-world, street survival) excalate violence, do absolutely nothing, or detour it to some other manifestation ? People are funny that way, you find a way to defend yourself and the same people that were beating on you will find a better way to kick your a**. I myself do not have the time to solve the worlds problems, nor would I want to, but I do want the freedom to walk down the street void of the possibility of being mugged, beat-up because I not " a memeber" of a gang, or stabbed by a crack-head in need of whatever. I also wonder about us, what would happen to our mind set after a few years of this kind(bare-knuckle, no holds bared) of training ? Would we become more respectful or more aggresive ? Would this type of confidence carry over into our jobs, or relashionships ? Of course it would, but how would it effect us ? Very interesting read. Thanks again !
  16. Hi Ed, Welcome to KF, I wish I could help, but i sport a different uniform; Jonie Uniforms.
  17. I saw that move last week on power rangers !
  18. If you are interested in finding out, do some research(Phone calls, Letters, Article's). Then when you find out, you can share with us, maybe we'll all be suprised of who is, and who is not. As far as I know Jakie is the only one, but I would think even his employers would rather he didn't.
  19. If it's REALLY bad pain, I would seek out reliable, proffessional help before doing anything else. A physical therapist or a M.D. specialist.
  20. This is only my opinion, Your tired (exhausted) , your angry, and you love martial arts. I would step away form it for a week or longer, get yourself completely rested, don't even think about any of it, get away. Then when your well rested and of a calm mind, ponder why you are studing and practicing martial arts. Test are valuable, not when they foster an idea of time verses qaulity, but rather a personal look in the mirror reminding us that all our hours of hard work, studying, self-disipline is just that, ours, and ours alone with respect to past and future masters. We are but a link, and in our time we must be true to ourselfs about time, intention, and the qaulity of the martial arts we strive to perfect. After a certain level has been reached we know what is lacking, what needs to be worked on, if we are truly honest with ourselfs we can then begin to goto the next level which is that of a beginner. I think that's what a master is, someone that's figured out the simplicity of "the thing it-self". Ultimately we become our own teachers which may be why your Shihan is being so hard on you. Get some sleep, and I wish you the best with your thoughts.
  21. 22. I wanted to become a teacher going in on my first day, 15 minutes later I had no clue what I was doing, very akward. I didn't understand why I had to do the same three moves over and over. I was angry at the teacher, I'd be in my square horse stance, low like he said, then he would come over and put his hands on my shoulders and push down and tell me I need to get into a low stance. After 30 seconds I'm sreaming in pain it can't be done.(lol)When I left that night soar and confused about my dreams, I got home ate, sat on the couch for awhile. Then I got up and started practicing those three moves.
  23. How about 1 manditory test ?, 4 years from now !, I hate to see 9 years of traing go down the drain, I have seen that happen. I understand that people move on, but one of the things I enjoy about the MA's is you can live it your whole life. Good luck, and I think is great that your even thinking about it!
  24. Count breathes, inhale and exhale counts as 1. Start out with 10 minutes and try to work up to 30 or 1 hour daily. There's about 600 breathes in 40 mintues. Pick a quite spot thats comfortable, not to hot, not to cold. Watch your appetite, not to full and not to hungry. Try to be in a good mood; not angry or upset, excited about anything, the point is try to avoid any distractions. Eventually you won't have to count breathes. Like ninjanurse said, be patient, don't force it.
