Ok... I wanted to post a quick message, lots to reply to here, but i am headed out, ill reply when i get back. A few things off the top of my head though. I have seen teh video of Tanks so called 600 pound bench press, and Having talked to Tank, and having been around him I have absolutely no doubt that that is faked. I know that there will always be people saying no way its true, But I dont believe it for 1 second. Also I have the original application for the UFC here somewhere. There were rules, even though they claimed it as no rules fighting. I will try to grab a copy and relay it here. Oh and to Street Guy, I actually enjoy my semi anonomous status on the internet. You can doubt my credentials if you choose, but I dont think im going to be baited into revealing myself to you here for this reason. Anyways ill edit this when i have more time later.

probably cause one lives across the country from the other and unless they have video conferencing i dont think they would get much done

I wouldnt call myself famous by any stretch. I have had small extra type parts in a few movies. I have had several fights televised. I have fought in quite a few different places, and been asked to sign my autograph, although I think it was more for the fact I was some big sweaty guy who had just beat the hell out of another opponent. Have to say a funny story though. I lived in the Bay area for a few years, and I went to a Sushi Restaurant fairly frequently there called Isobune(might be mispelled) anyways, I was usually greeted very friendly and given a seat at the boats fairly quickly. I just thought that was the great service, and never thought twice about it. Finally after about 10th trip or so I was at the cash register paying, and noticed alot of autographs on the wall, one thing led to another and I was asked to sign my autograph. After a little time and little embarassment it came out that I was indeed not Nicholas Cage /chuckles. And I have to say when I was not as big as I am now I got told I resembled Nicholas Cage quite frequently. as far as relatives. I can trace a direct line on my mothers side to Andrew Johnson, the so/so president after Lincoln. I definitely dont brag about the relation there but /shrug

Gumbi you need to recheck your facts. MMA isnt one or two styles, there are literally parts taken from dozens of different styles, it is truely a blending of the arts. It is not as you put a showdown of different styles. Also to use Tank Abbott as you example of a kick * street fighter is laughable. Tank is a pit fighter, I fought in some of the same "cards" as he did. When he was in his prime, and the last 5 years are two totally different things. I would laugh at the thought of handling Tank now. As his major weakness is well known, and very easily passed. Also your assumptions of UFC fights being as brutal as I claim them not to be, well I know many UFC fighters, and with the exception of a very fwe they are none of them bloodthirsty, or wanting to beat people to a pulp. Even teh loud mouths like Tito Ortiz are pretty much pussycats. There is a big difference between a true no holds barred fighter, and I speak from experience in both arenas. And yes no holds barred fighers do cross train in different styles. It appears to me you have a little bit of a starstruck attitude. There is a huge difference between the two games. Big difference in how they are fought. You will never see the amount of fights go to the ground in no holds barred, true no rules fighting, as you do in UFC. No Holds Barred, NO Rules Fighting is the closest thing to real fighting, because it quite simply is real fighting. Once you start adding rules you start catering to a certain type of fighter, and a certain style that they are trying to market. Trust me no holds barred fighting would never be successful mainstream today. UFC style does have an appeal, and does have a chance to become big, maybe even biggger then boxing eventually. But like the best boxers in the world, they are extremely good in their game, but once you change the game, and take away rules, and allow more various weapons and techniques, they become less efficient and more open to getting beat and bad. Now like professional boxers the UFC fighters are in exceptional shape, and that in and of itself would win them many fights in the streets against untrained people. their training is just phenomenal as well, and that would them even more fights against even some who have training. Like that Joke of a fighter David Abbott(Tank). but when you have a true no holds barred fighter, that has great conditioning and training, I guarantee you the fight will look nothing like a UFC fight. And Even if the UFC fighter wins, it will not even come close to looking like a UFC fight. Now if you have experience lets hear it, but As i suspect if you are just talking because you own the ultimate UFC collection.... gee wiz so do i /cheers... or PRide, Or any of the other ones out there, then maybe you should lay off of the specal features and actually think about what the rules in the UFC do to change the fights? you dont think that all those rules are in effect to actually encourage grappling do you? NAwwwwww you dont think that the Gracies, who started the UFC in the first place as a marketing campaign, used it as a platform to give themselves the edge over other styles? Nawwwwww you dont think that since the first couple UFCs that when fighters cross trained to become more complete fighters that it had anything to do with why the Gracies got out, since they are all undersized, and you dont think that since it is so much less violent then ho rules fighting that it is being accepted more and more, and is actually becoming a reality show do ya?

nice facts.. too bad they are not facts. and basically your opinion. Fact #1..... in and of itself i can buy, but there is always something that has the ability to interfere with you... whether it be human, animal, or object. Fact #2.... I disagree, there are plenty of ways to end a fight quick without knocking someone out, there are also many ways to end a fight quicker then taking someone to the ground and knocking them out. Fact #3.... I disagree, there can often be situations where ending a fight is not the best way to end a fight, lets say you get a one punch knockout of someone, there is a damn good chance they will think it was a lucky shot and be gunning for you after they come back to conciousness.

to be honest I rarely ever have been injured in a fight, it is the intense training leading up to the fight that usually has been where i have had my injuries from. fighting week after week isnt nearly as bad as training intensely for several weeks leading up to a fight, since you will likely have much more time to rest between fights and let your body recover.

ITs absolutely zero indication on how a street fight would go. Every single athlete that fights in the UFC has cross trained in multiple martial arts. IT is no longer, and hasnt been sicne the 1st UFC, a showdown of different arts, but rather a showdown of well trained athletes using all the skill they have learned to outwit and outmatch each other. I can tell you from experience that a UFC ruled fight, and a no rules fight are quite different. I have had many fights under both set of rules. Street Rules are much more brutal , and have no thought towards the longevity of the fighters. UFC rules are much much more forgiving, and are designed to allow the fighters to last much longer and hopefully develop the sport into the evolution of Boxing that It should be. Anyone that tells you a person fighting under UFC rules will dominate a pure Street Fighter each using their rules is an ignorant person speaking out. Now the fact that most UFC fighters are in better physical condition then most street fighters, and most UFC fighters have a longer liftime in the sport then you get an influence that effects teh outcomes. But I will tell you now, that if you give two men with everything else being equal fighting under UFC rules for one and no rules for the other, I will always bet on the No ruled fighter to win.

What makes a great fighter?
Luckykboxer replied to Carbon_Cricket's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
sorry brickman i disagree. Heart never makes up for experience or training... EVER And I would love to see you bring 1 person who has more heart then what 30 of my punches can do. OR 30 of any fighter that knows how to throw effective strikes -
/sigh. I swear people dont think at all before they post crap do they? lets think about things here a second. first of all think of the different ranges of attacks. grappling is the last and final range, its when you have screwed up and allowed an opponent to get to you. Grappling on the street is a last resort, its for the people who dont take striking seriously, or dont take an opponent seriously. sure many if not most fights on the street end up on the ground, but only because of untrained, or undertrained people. I have been in hundreds of street fights. The only street fights I ever ended up on the ground from were ones that I knew I had my back covered and I could bring it to the ground, for fun, and only because I wanted to do it. It is not very hard to keep a grappler at bay if you have the knowledge, the training, the speed, the power, and the mindset to do such. Now obviously if you go to the ground grappling becomes very important. But who would want to go to the ground? think about that... in todays society it isnt a 1 on 1 fight anymore, friends or bystanders will more likely then not jump in. Do you really want to be grappling with someone on the ground while his buddies kick your ribs in? of course not. Now the good martial artist will prepare himself for all ranges of attacks. He will also prepare himself to avoid attacks from the beginning if that is his wish. I chose none of the above, because I find the question itself biased to begin with. IT is assumed that the fight is going to hit the ground. This is not a necessity. NEver has been and never will be. Now the problem is how people are positioned to deal with confrontations. There are situations that will lead to grappling being a higher probability then striking. for example, being stuck in a confined space with little room to move. being overweight and out of shape and unable to maintain an endurance to keep a striking pace. being undersized against a massive opponent that has you blocked into a dead end. I could go on and on. The point is that the only way a person is going to go down and be forced to grapple is if they allow themselves to get into that position, either from short term decisions, or long term decisions. the better trained martial artists will be able to deal with either scenario.

btw a great thing about online poker is the amount of hands you get to see, experience is priceless, and online you can sometimes get into 5-10 games at once if you can handle it. All that repitition and all those hands are great for those that play real life poker in tournaments or just grinding.

Huge Poker Fan here. I actually play on partypoker.com I have been playing alot of tournaments lately, and am actually toying with playing the WSP Main event this year. I am probably playing alot more then I should but I have been winning consistently, and hell its hard to justify stopping when I am winning, and it hasnt effected anything in my life yet.... we will see.

we hold beginning belt tests every three months. those testing for yellow, orange, or purple. we hold intermediate tests every four months. those testing for blue, green, and red. we hold advanced tests every 6 months. those testing for 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Brown. We hold Black Belt Testing once a year. it takes 2 years to be eligible for 2nd Black after achieving 1st Black. it takes 3 years to be Eligible for 3rd Black after achieving 2nd Black. it takes 4 years to be Eligible for 4th Black after achieving 3rd Black. it takes 5 years to be Eligible for 5th Black and Beyond after achieving 4th Black or later Belts. Those mind you are Minimums. the least amount of time to achieve it. we also have age limits for Black Belt. We are discussing it at the moment, but I believe it is currently 16 years or older. Also once you are a Green Belt there are also Instructor requirements to advance. No one under Black Belt teaches their own classes, but all Green Belts and Above assist In classes. The more advanced you are the more you are required to teach/assist. The numbers are not incredible, and with regular training they are achievable in the time frames for testing. Students are also required to carry C grade point average or higher. All kids undfer 18 must get permission slips from their teachers, and parents saying they have been respectful and are doing well before they are allowed to test.

girlfriends: need help getting one
Luckykboxer replied to Son Goku the monkeyking's topic in General Chat
LOL dont feel bad you shouldnt have game at 13 dont be worried about getting a girlfriend. be worried about having fun, learning, expanding your horizons, meeting new people in general, being social, and learning a good moral value system that will serve you into your adult years. Women or in your case, girls, will come and go. the last thing you want to do is make yourself miserable trying to find and keep a girlfriend. -
Wipps is great. And to anyone reading this post. Please Please Please invest the money and buy a good mouthguard your life could depend on it. your quality of life could depend on it. ever see a punch drunk fighter? Its from taking so many head shots and having so much brain trauma that the brain becomes a mush for lack of a better term. the good quality mouth guards like wipps will prevent alot of the vibrations that shake your brain when you are struck in the face with a punch. even if you difuse even one punches vibrations to your brain, the 20 to 50 dollars is well spent. even if you dont see the results now, or in the future, why wouldnt you spend the small amount of money necessary to prevent it?

kenpo vs. boxing
Luckykboxer replied to wingedsoldier's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
this is another of those ridiculous questions. First of all given that size of the fighters and endurance etc are all equal and the rules are no holds barred then I would have to give it to the kenpo artist every time based on the ability to use more weapons and tools. Anyone who disagrees with that is illogical, and truely doesn't understand boxing, kenpo, or both. Now to give the boxer the edge things have to start moving towards their favor.. either they have to be bigger, faster, stronger, or more resilient. or the rules of the fight have to limit the abilities of the kenpo artist. a boxer will lose in a match with a kenpo artist with all other things equal 10 times out of 10. a kenpo artist may lose more to a boxer given all else being equal, but since kenpo teaches boxing skills as part of the basic art, the kenpo artist wouldnt be out of his element. I can go on and on. really though people, instead of pretending that you either know about an art, or pretending you know what is better, how about actually thinking about it and maybe learning it. some of the replies I read here are absolutely nonsense. As a Kenpo Artist I will tell you know that If I were in a fight with a Boxer and was told no rules, your life depends on it. It would be so simple not to even get punched, the fight would be a win 10 times out of 10. Simply because My leg and foot are longer then any professional boxers on the planet, and the training I have through Kenpo would allow me to quickly and easily take out a knee and then systematically destroy every joint in the persons body until I was finished. Now if I was told to go boxing rules only, I would imagine that I would have a serious run for my money, but since We train with boxing skills in Kenpo I wouldnt be totally defenseless. whereass unless the boxer had crosstrained in another style he would be completely defenseless against my kicks. But then the topic was boxing against kenpo wasnt it? -
Is Death Touch (Dim Mak) possible?
Luckykboxer replied to Zauriel's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I invite anyone who claims to have mastered the Dim Mak to come try it out on me. Of course anyone pretending to poke or prod me should be fully prepared to be poked back at..... -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47348&item=7123800884&rd=1 Or better yet go ahead and get your advanced black belt degree in less then 1 month and 200 dollars /cheers

http://www.adrianroman.com/Distant_learning.htm here you go, why wait go ahead and get your black belt now now sarcasm aside.. videos are an excellent aide to your real life training. They are not and cannot be a substitute for it. any belt or ranking given through the mail or distance learning is as valuable as if I declared you president of the united states of Fred. wont get you very far, and while you may impress your friends with saying your a black belt, you will know you are little more then a armchair quarterback. I do think that distance learning tapes can give people more skill in and of themselves... But to advance in rank is not even dubious its outright fraud.

I always chuckle at this question. My question to you is this. what if you are fighting in a closed quarters situation? or in 2 inches of water.... or in a grass field? or on concrete stairs? or on a hillside? or in a dark alley with slippery surfaces and broken glass on the ground? or on a bus next to a seated 92 year old woman? I have never been a fan of whats the best stance, rather whats the best stance for the situation...

What art is better for street fighting?
Luckykboxer replied to Sinar89's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
the art doesnt make as big a difference as the philosophy. whichever art you take make certain it teaches all ranges of fighting. Anyone who says, XXXXX Art is the best is speaking from a biased thought. Personally I have to say I believe Kenpo is the best. but once again I am biased. The best art is going to be the one that teaches all ranges of fighting and is able to fit your body style. Many times now days this means a combination of styles. which is why MMA(mixed martial arts( has seen such a surge in the last 5 years. -
man some places is very inexpensive to train. our school charges along the following structure... yellow 25 orange 25 purple 25 blue 30 green 35 red 40 brown 3 50 brown 2 75 brown 1 - 100 black 1 - 200

we will use music during warm ups. basically higher paced beats, and something to help get people moving. From experience we have learned that sometimes the stimulation from the music will get people working a little bit harder, and relax a little bit more. many people get nervous when put on the spot, and even in a class with 5, or 10 or 20 other students will feel self conscious when working out. Anything to get them thinking about the workout and not the nervousness is a good thing. During regular class though we turn it off as it only interferes with concentration.

Ancient?? /sigh Yes I get paid to fight, but money is not what I fight for. If I come to the day that the money is the reason I fight, then ill give it up all together. Seven what weight class are you? Heavy weight to super heavy weight here depending on the association I am fighting in. If you are doing some MMA fights who knows we may run into each other
