I agree with you david, i dont think you have to be 16 to take your black belt, you can be very young and good enough to achieve a black belt so i think that you can achieve a 1st dan whateva your age.

the kata i had to do was heian shodan.I was clearly better when we watched it on the camera afterwards.

wow 6 hours!!That sounds tough.

Its soo biased,my mate RTS was clearly better than some lad there,but he won the round because his mum and dad where the judges!

hi i went to the prestatyon competition and got beat in kata in my 4th round,he was a brown and double white and im a red belt,i was better but the judges were welsh and so was he and they gave him full marks!!!Its sooooo unfair!!!

Do any of you have any lessons that make you totally wrecked afterwards,i do with frank brennan of a thursday,im 14 but im allowed to do the adult lessons.He has us in our stances for ages and makes us do full speed and power on the teqniques about 50 times!Do any of you have hard lessons?

I 'used' to have some nuchaku,but they got broke,they were really dangerous when i first got them because i kept hitting myself,but after abouy 1 year i became a MASTER.lol

When you think about it its obvious,thats the hardest part of your foot,it may seem difficult at first,i still cant do it properly all the time,but it eventually gets better with practice.

Im a dedicated martial artist of all arts.I have been to tons of different styles throughout my life and their has only been brief periods in my life where i havent been doing any martial arts at all,unless you can count smacking my brother and punchbag.lol Ive just always been into fighting,not in a bad way, but ina kind of spiritual way if you know what i mean.

Hmm yes RTS i suppose you could use karate but more than likely you would bite spit grab and er..hit! you lose your head and flip and then destroy your enemies !!!! MUUHAAAHAHHAHA

I used to do aikido and i only ever once or twice managed to produce a perfect throw,my sensei did alot of throwing on me of course.

To get your kicks perfect you need alot of dedication,strength,and balance,you also need alot and alot of practice if you ever want to kick like bruce lee,train your legs every single day.

I think that it is essentiol that you wear cups because they protect er..the groin ..er..region.lol

OH NO!My sensei has just told me that i might not be able to go in for kumite because my grade is a low grade(DAMN THEM!!)but hes sent off a form and an e-mail so maybe ill be able to still do it.hopefully!

Hi does anyone know what the best way to deal with a street fight is?I mean if it is serious and most likely unfair as people round here need gangs to back them up.Anyway what kind of moves or teqniques could you do?Any ideas?

I believe what you sensei says,that you will come more and more adapt to it over time.

Hmm most familys around here in liverpool are pretty rough and they do things like boxing or just plain throwing digs.Its only the so called "geeks" like me that do proper martial arts,but i dont let them get to me as its my decision if i do karate or not.

K thanx for the advice and encouragement it really has helped,oh and by the way i will be going up against all kyu grades not in belt divisions so i could end up ,fighting a brown and double white belt,like red triangle student. uh oh.

In a street fight you would do what ever you could to win,such as spit,bite,punch,kick,elbox,pinch,grab hair etc.

Hi im a red belt in shotokan karate and ive got my first Karate competition up in wales on sunday.Its a Kyu grade competition and im gonna go in for kata and kumite.Aragaa i will be destroyed by the brown belts.PLEASEE somebody give me some encouragment!!!
