  1. We always wear light shoes during training, mainly because they were part of our uniform when we bought it and because we practice on a really hard and rough floor but if i ever faced an opponent bare footed i would probably hurt myself when kicking.
  2. thx all, it's getting a little beter now Although being a little difficult : San Soo Kung Fu and Mantis Kung Fu seem to be missing from the list at that site (or i'm blind). I knew 4 styles of Kung Fu before i saw that list and of course two of those had to be missing, not that i'm ungrateful draven
  3. I was wondering which are the most common practiced kung fu styles around the world, since i started practice one myself i 'am rather curious about it. I know there are too many different styles to summerize but i just want to know about the most common ones. Also does anyone know a good website with a good overview of different kung fu styles? I'm new at it and when searching the web you get confronted with so many different styles its really confusing
  4. Don't know what just happend but seems to me like natural has blocked me on msn (i only see the emailadres in my list which is always offline) i want to help but can't do much now As for my own movies, i don't think it would be wise to make them of a complete beginner like me (otherwise white warlock and drunken monkey would have to write whole pages with things which can be improved) and draven and me are taught by the same sifu so styles are exactly the same
  5. Natural, If you want to make your own webspace take a look at angelfire.lycos.com, you can sign up there. They ask lots of info but you don't need to be honest At some point in the registration they will ask you for a name for the site/webspace. should look like this https://www.angelfire.com/.../... You have to pick something out of a list for the first blank space. For the second blank space you can fill in something yourself (your username would be the best choice). If you completed the registration go to internet explorer and go to ftp.angelfire.com/.../... (same blancs as you entered at the registration) You will be asked to enter your username and password, if it works an explorer window will open. You can now drag or copy/paste that movie in the explorer window and post the the url: https://www.angelfire.com/.../.../eckachaai001.avi here Hope this helps, if it doesn't work you can send me the movie on msn and i'll put it online
  6. No, i know draven. i've been in the same class with him at school and now we're both learning shaolin kung fu at Ghent. But draven is far more experienced then i since i just started with it this month and he started 3 or 4 months ago He showed me this forum couple of days ago, but damn, if you post something here the feedback is really awesome Think this will come in handy for the next few months or years (if draven reads this, chances are that he's laying on the ground laughing, he probably doesn't believe i'll last that long )
  7. i'm a complete beginner at this so i could be very wrong, but a while ago i saw a yellow belt preform the hawk and if i remember correctly: he did it the same way as draven only after the second kick he kept turning his body (to his left) until his legs were crossed then he turned back in the other direction and did the last kick. It's like you wind up an elastic band and then let it shoot back if you know what i mean, i think you get more speed out of the move that way. Anyway i rememberd it because it looked strange to me. Could this be the solution?
  8. i'm in the same class as draven is, but i only started this month with kung fu. I think draven's more an exception because most peole i've seen there and who have been training there longer then him can't make the last kick from hawk (and neither can i ) it all depends on how much you train in your free time i guess and how devoted you are.
  9. idd although, i think anger usually causes you to lose control, don't think many are capable of controlling their anger when for example somebody hits your girlfriend. When i feel i'm getting angery i try to get away and cool down before something happens. the few times i didn't do that it ended badly. But it also depends on your personality
