  1. http://www.athens2004.com/athens2004/page/legacy?lang=en&cid=57ca470429149f00VgnVCMServer28130b0aRCRD Plenty of information there about sailing and the olympics. I did competition sailing myself once, but i was only 11 years old then and i didn't understand a thing of the tactics used by my much older competitors. So i lost too many times, got frustrated and left the sport
  2. Hey don't be too sure, belgium too has its eyes set on sailing, but i'm willing to settle for the one golden medal justine henin will get
  3. Last week at the training we had to stand on our hands against a wall and do some push ups. Not really my strongest point, 5 or 6 other students did their hand stance nicely lined up next to each other against the wall and started doing push ups. i was last in line, as i swing my legs against the wall i lose balance and hit the one next to me, she loses her balance as well and yup you guessed it: domino effect. Nobody got hurt and the sifu was laughing (must have been an amusing sight from where he was standing) but very embarrassing for me.
  4. With my knowledge of food and cooking.... i'd probably be in the bathroom with my head in the sink as well. Although i've never prepared, cooked, eaten or seen chilli.
  5. when going out my preferences are palm (a belgian beer) or martini But my real favourite would be rose. This year my dad got in contact with a french wine peasent and order directly from him 36 bottles of rose, that was about 3months ago and it's all gone now
  6. If i could make a wish it would be to push the UK a little further away from the European mainland cause we always get cought up in the same bad weather the UK attracts Anyway, it rained early in the morning, and now a bit clouded. Summer sucks here as well, only had one maybe two weeks where the sun shined with the temperature above 30C and that while i had to work
  7. They teach tai chi quan and do some Qigong seminars at our school, that sometimes slips in our kung fu training but only once or twice every month or so. Perhaps for the best cause i'm not really a big fan of internal arts
  8. lol aefibird, be carefull when you jump in space though, it could sent you back too earth without the spaceship If i would go to the moon it would be for the sensation of walking on the moon (if that's included in the whole trip of course), the view back would come in second place
  9. My sifu went to study the art there about 20 years ago (somewhere in the 80's) and gratuated there as first westerner. He doesn't talk about it much though i don't think there are too many "foreigners" who trained at the temple itself, if you want to go to china you would probably be sent to a school where they train hundreds (thousands even) at once. Anyway i don't know much about it, Drunken Monkey is the one you should talk to.
  10. I was looking at their picture gallery and came across this: http://www.westwindschools.com/images/images10/pages/finalpix0107-01.html I hope the guy on the picture never plans on firing the gun in his right hand, don't think that would be healty and i have no idea why that stance is neccesary while holding two guns Anyway if the "kick door" theory ever comes to pass, i think this would be a great place to start with
  11. Same as aefibird's wing chun, gi trousers and a black T-shirt with the club logo for shaolin kung fu. Draven Chen Zhen posted this here few months ago but he's wearing the uniform we wear otherwise, except for the hat and that grey shirt he's wearing underneath the black T-shirt. http://gradweb.kahosl.be/studenten/karel.striegel/Draak.avi
  12. A month or two ago they showed some 80's kung fu movies, don't remember their names but those were really awful, you could actually see some of the actors still wearing sneakers while it's supposed to be the 14century or so Other then that, i don't like those julia Roberts romantic movies; nothing hill, my best friends wedding,... not that i don't like romance but it's all so predictable and far too exaggerated.
  13. I agree 100% with unknown, for 1 million dollars i'd travel around the world. Plenty of beautiful places you can visit with that kind of money and why take the risk of loosing your life (+ giving up the million) just too see the world from a distance
  14. 21, never been mistaken for 16 or 18 the opposite actually, couple of weeks ago some people were surprised i still study, ....hmmm maybe it is time to settle down, get married and have kids...
  15. Traditional forms, Weapons (staff, shaolin sword, 3 section staff, ...), sparring (semi-contact), iron hand, plenty of low stances... You should go to a shaolin academy in your area and see for yourself how its like, different things could be thaught there then the once i just mentioned
  16. Needed a nickname to register for something (don't remeber what), took a quick look around on my desk, saw my cd of p.o.d laying there which was named satelitte and voila, nickname was registered. Was "only" six months later i realized i wrote satelitte instead of satellite but i'm to stubborn to change it
  17. altogether, i think about 40 people seperated in two groups: beginners and advanced
  18. i agree with luckyboxer, My Sifu is a full time instructor, without the income from the students he would have a hell of a time keeping the academy running. Judo used to be the most popular MA in belgium (hyped when belgian judokas started earning silver and gold medals during the olympics), doubt most people even knew about shaolin kung fu when he started the academy. I think he had little choice in introducing a belt system to keep his students from leaving. Honestly, i think the belt system does have a bit of a negative influence. With a belt system you determine the number of moves, techniques and forms a student most know. So isn't it a bit watered down then due to the sifu's personal choice
  19. Just got home from work (just a vacation job), normaly i would have finished working at 14:00 which left me plenty of time to get ready for my MA training and i was looking forward to it cause i missed the last 3 trainings because of the work. At 14:00 my boss suddenly tells me that there is a whole stage for a band that needs to be set up, but it would only take one hour . Well 3 hours later the stage is set. As a result there was no way to get my bus in time to get at the training . To make things even worse, the little comfort of being payed 3 extra hours at 150% soon dissappeared as well, just 3 hours at 100%
  20. Yes, but i have never seen it, draven chen zhen told me they had practiced kip one lesson 5 or 6 months ago (before i started). So i'm guessing it's not an important part of our training, just something to practice in between.
  21. We also call it kip, But as confusing as it is, kip is dutch for chicken and i don't know if it's translated from chinees to dutch or actually is chinees or the general name of it in english like i said, confusing
  22. lol aefibird, i read an article in the sports section a few days ago, went something like this: "Urs Mayers and his family need 24 hour protection by the police after receiving over 16.000 hate mails and threats after the match england - portugal" If you're a referee in an england match you're risking your life apparently by the way, Greece has won the europian championship after winning from portugal, one of the biggest stunts in the history of the chamionship. Such an underdog beating all the famous and strongest countries; France, Spain, Portugal,... I was rooting for portugal during the finals though
  23. I failed my physics exam , how much do you guys ask for lessons???
  24. Strange how you guys keep talking about being robbed by the referee, while saying nothing about beckham and vassel missing their penalty kicks. Did somebody noticed when portugal scored their first goal, when the ball was in the air not one english defender jumped for it. One portugese attacker unfortunalty did jump. I think these were the main reasons why england lost. I'm going to shut up now before i get every english user here on my back it was a great match and portugal was just that little bit better.
  25. Yeah he scored, but portugal's keeper was pulled down (don't remember anymore by who) so the ref was right in my humble opinion I was rooting for portugal but i never thought the match was going to be that exciting. Portugal was going to defeat the english easly, guess not. One of the best matches so far in the Europian championship if you ask me. The portugese were simply the best when it came to the penalty's, ricardo (the portugese goalkeeper) penalty was flawless, completly unstopable unlike the rest. Anyway better to lose this way against portugal then to lose with 1-0 like Greece vs France
