  1. The Original American Freestyle was created by Mr Joe Corley in Atlanta. He Combined his knowledge of Tang Soo Do, and Tae Kwon Do, with American Boxing. He just called it American Karate. American Freestyle is a general name for style that are combined...for instance....the ID cards for my Students reads"Williams American Freestyle: Tae Su Jutsu System" Some people on the other side of the Atlantic call it American Kickboxing. Hoever, from what my friends in the Great Britian have told me about that style..it isn't quite like the one here. I hope all of this made sense. Peace, Tae
  2. None is more emphazised than the other. It took me years of practicng to get all the styles to work smoothly as one..but it works. From the hard styles, you get Power, and stability. From the Freestyle, and Wing Chun you get speed and Agaility..so it depends on the situation as to which is called for. Tang Soo do hands and blocks are much toward the soft style of Wing Chun...than Tae Kwon Do. And from all four systems you have a good array of kicks. it is a good system..and my students enjoy it more the traditional...from which most of them come. But I enjoy all syatems. Peace, Tae
  3. LOL, The pleasure is mine also. Please just call me Tae. I have never been one who felt it right that anyone call me by Title..whether it is the one that goes with my rank, or education. As far as the greatness goes..well, I don't see myslef as great...I just see myself, as one who has spent many years in the arts..and I am still learning. Peace, Tae
  4. The first known "martail art" was actully an olympic contest. It is call Pakrantion(pa-kran-tion) It hase been dated back as far back a 798 B.C.E. of Course there may be Chinese system that old alos..but this has been found on pottery of that period. The Shoa-lin system originated from India..when the Buddhist monk Bodhidarma came from India acroos the mountians to China..he watched the animals. When he arrived at the temple..he found the monks in por physical health..so he started A training regimen that would become known as the Shao-lin arts. Wing Chun, was created by a Shao-lin nun, and named after her first student. Just some thoughts. Peace, Tae
  5. Japanese, Chinese..and Southern. I like Mexican also. Peace, Tae
  6. Happy birthday. Mine is August 28...but I will be anything but a teenager. LOL I sometimes wish that I was one again..enjoy it while you can. Peace, Tae
  7. Well, let's see..I have already traveled the states..China, Korea, and Japan. The only places other than those would have to be New Zealand, Great Britian, Spain, and Denmark..I have a friend on Denmark. Peace, Tae
  8. Thanks Patrick..I will do that. Peace, Tae
  9. Mine is the Atlanta Braves...but i was a fan way before they moved to Atlanta. other than baseball...I don't watch sports..that is of course unless it is kickboxing. LOL Peace, Tae
  10. Just a note. The first thing all practioners of The Chinese style learn is CHI,(Japanese=KI, Korean=GI), There are thre systems, which are ferred to as internal systems, which depend more heavily on Chi, than any other systems. In the States, and in most western cultures, martial arts are taught from the outside in. In the orient, it is taught from the inside out. Just some thoughts. Peace, Tae
  11. I haven't removed any of the traditions. My students still bow, learn Hyungs, and everything just like I did. As far as combining them..it has just made the system stronger. You can not have a true martial art without the tradition...besides my students are also required to know the histories of different styles. In most styles it takes three years to achieve a Black Belt status. in Tae Su Jutsu it takes 5. I stated that it is a system.to prepare the student to be able to defend themselves earlier, so please allow my to expalin. In the traditional systems...a student is a Green belt before they can defend themselves effectively...in this system. they can do it by the time they take their first belt test. The students are taught twice as much as in the traditional system...and they do their punch, block, and kick, always in combinations..never just up and down a mat. In traditional systems..in order to recieve a 1st degree black belt..the student must know 9 Forms(also called hyung, kata, poomse), my students must know 18. 9 Fighting forms..and 9 traditional(I created 27). I am in know way saying that my system is the best, I do not believe there is a best, but it is in some ways a more advanced system, as far as the way it is taught. I do not teach my students just enough to keep them, coimg back for years...I teach them as much as they want to know. We have a belt system as follows: White, yellow, green, blue, red, black. No stripes...just solid colors. Have a good one. Peace, Tae
