  1. Hi Rush, I love your description that you have made of ken. Seems like he is finding in the other club(he will know waht I am talking aobut), That most people in there feel the same way you do about him. Peace, tae
  2. TR, I am really pressed for time right at the moment...but I will come back in sometime before tommorrow and give you the info I got while I was in China. It may be just one version..but it does seem to fit what I have here in the history books.. Anyway, it will give you a good idea as to where it came from. Peace, Tae
  3. The problem with the young ones in the arts today..is that noone thinks they need to respect anyone but themselvs. Until the arts are respect again like they once were....arrogance will rule supreme. Until age..years..and the blood sweat and tears are recognized as having been there...studied more..and been in situations that those who don't have that experience have not been in..than respect for the elders of the arts are dead. All people know what they know... but one thing the those who do have the years were tuahgt..that obviously is not being taught in these overly friendly school today..is respect..but that is what happens when you take the discipline out. I respect all the artists on these boards..but their are those who will never be humble enough to respect those older both in age..and the arts....so you have your laugh.to those who have been in the arts for years..and who have given up evrything to learn them..it isn't a funny matter. People are leaving the arts because of such attitudes..and those who just want the sport..wii never truly be martial artsts..but martial players. please under that this is not thrown at anyone in particular..it is just an obeservation...all arts are and should be respected...but I can see that a few here will never understand that. Angus, you are a good person, and one who wants to learn..I wish you all the best on your journey. I am not going to post for a while...but I will be around. Peace, Tae
  4. Hi Rush, I agree. I have never seen anyone skip rank, unless they ere already a Black Belt in another style. Even then it was left up to the individual. Still love ya. Peace, Tae
  5. But you are arrogant at times...the staement"You may know more than me..but I doubt it"..Tell me that isn't arrogant. You don't know me either..and if you would listen..and stop thinking that you have all the answer...I would have told you something you may not know. I have studied many styles with many people of over the years...including muay Thai That is why I say it is not the end all of martail arts. Wing chun and JKD that you love so much...they are good styles also which I have studied for a long time. You semm to think I am strictly a traditionalist..and yet Tae Su Jutsu is not a traditional style..is it geared for the street. In Kubudo, and this again depends on the teacher, is taught is what we call "fighting sets"..not forms...they can be put togetehr as a form..but I was not taught that way. Years does have it's advantages..and should be respected...I admit that I do not particular care the Thaiboxing...to me it is just a sport...however, I do respect the fact that it is your art..and I will show it respet. In your posts, however, you seem not to respect anything unless you approve of it. to me that is disrespectfull of those who train in those arts. Now if I am getting the wrong impression from your post, I aplolgize..but it is the way you come off. I never said you had to like forms..but it would be nice if some respect was shown for those who do. They do have a purpose..that you amy not understand..but then that is the way of a lot of things. I was taught to respect everyone..and their art..but I get tired of showing it at times, when none is shown to others. I never said I know more than you..but I know that you or noone else knows all there is to know about the arts...when you do..they had better bury you, because we will learn until the day we die. Peace, Tae
  6. I was talking about you arrogance of thinkig your way is the only way. As far as me knowing more that you...well considering I started before you were born..and have crossed trained in seven style, created a system..and basically have a way better attitude than you...trust me I know more than you. That goes with out saying. Do you really think you know that much more that is different? You are so full of yourself. It is artists like you who chase off the really good people who would love to learn. Yep I can see also that a school with no discipline turns out such arrogance as you. I never said you had to like kata...but to contiunally put every style you don;t like down is just ot much. That is what I am commenting about..you style is not the beginning or the end..it is just another style. Peace, Tae
  7. I would hate to go through life with that kind of an attitude. If I felt like you did..I would not know half of what I do. I am open to all things...Form each system..and even kata you can learn something useful..no one style or system has all the answers. It is better to learn from all no matter what it is..than to have just a fraction of the knowledge that you could possess. Peace, Tae
  8. LOL, The best offense is a good defense. I have proved that..more than once...in the street. If your opponent has to come to you..he will make the mistakes. On the other had..the best defense is also a good offense. Therefore forams are the best way to learn this. Just becuase you may not understnad the true purpose of forms..doen't mean they should be thrown away. Peace, tae
  9. Actually there are two arts..both originating in Japan. Kendo..the use of the blade in battle. And Iaido..the drawing an cutting with the blade. Peace, tae
  10. It depends on the Teacher..but Katana is a kubudo weapon. It has been for along time. Okinawan Kubudo is not the only kubudo. Once a teacher learns the kubudo the way their unstructor teaches them..then they can add what they want...that is the neat thing about kubudo...it can always be added too. The are quite a number of instructors here that teach it..and they have added the katana, bokken, and Shinai. As I stated though it depends on the teacher. Ken, Kendo..and iaido are two fine Katana arts..you might enjoy them. Peace, tae
  11. Funny that boot camp type learning has been fine now for over 3,000 years. Where do you think the arts would be with strict discipline. BTW, best you not call me a dork at all. Respect comes first. Humor and arrogance are two different animals. You may not like where someone comes from or how they dress..but respect should be first and foremost at all times. The reaso the McDojos exist today..is because to many people want to play and have fun instead of learn. Being like a family in the sense that the discipline is taught..along with the rules and responsibility...is one thing...but being one just to have fun is another. Many a good school has been destroyed, because the student thought they didn't have to respect the instructor..after all they are family. If you(in general, meaning everyone) can not have true discipline for just long enough to appreciate the old way of doing things...than that to bad. Most of the schools I visit and teach at love it.
  12. Yes they are patrick. Even the turtle had to practice Kubodo. Peace, tae
  13. Ken Ku= Ancient Budo= Martial art. Kududo is for the most part the teaching of the weapons. Bo Jo Sai Kama Katana(long Sword) Nunchukas In some schools depending on theother weapons that the instructor knows..more weapons are taught. Some specialize in just one weapon. You also (agian in some scholls), learn to use the bokken, and shinai... Peace, Tae
  14. Well, I'm glad you are one big family. First I am one of the geeks you talk about..my first system was Wing Chun. Second my students enjoy the same strict disipline that I was tuaght. Since I have never lost a student unless they opend their on scool..I would say I am doing ok. Third..I do not believe that a Dojang should be a family..to many in that family will seek to take advantage of the relationship. I have seen that happen many times. I teach that it is. I do not get personal with my students. In short...it isn't right to condemn or make fun of..what you truly may not know about. If you don't agree with some schools are run fine. But condemnations should stay out of it. After all, there are those who seek the disci-pline, and not so much fun. Peace, Tae
  15. LOL, are you sure about that....why just the other day..I found new teeth marks. Peace, tae
  16. I studied with a philopino when I was in School. But thanks. I just find them boring. I enjoy the other weapons much more..and Like I said for me personally I find them more useful. I use Cho Bos, and Kamas also. Don't know why I find the nunchaku's so boring..but I guess to each his own...that is what makes life interseting...Yes? Peace, Tae
  17. To all others from the US. Happy fourth. I however, do not celebrate it. Peace, Tae
  18. I have used them for over 30yrs...so I still say it has no practical use...at least not to me. You may be different...we all are. I teach Katana, Bo, Jo Sia, Kiri Kabong..and the such..but not Nunchuka. Like I said though with each instructor it is different..and that is what makes the world go 'round. Peace, Tae
  19. Angus, Please, don't fient. But I agree with you..Nunchaku has not practical use. Peace, Tae
  20. Hi Rush, That "tradition" was put in there to seperate Tae Kwon Do from Tang Soo do. At least that is what my TKD instructor told me. Of course that was about....well, let's forget how long ago that was. LOL Still love ya. Peace, Tae
  21. More like the Fundies in every religion. I believe there are absolutely some things that should be kept to ones self. I do not agree with alot of things..things that go against what I believe as both a person and a Christian..but to bring them on the boards is wrong. We each(of those who believe), have different belief systems...but what the heck..in the martail arts we are one in that we all love the arts. That is what should count on these boards. Peace, Tae
  22. Dim Hsueh, is the art of using the pressure points to maim, hurt, or kill. Instead of using them for healing like Accupressure(which I also know), or Accupuncture. They use the same points with a differnt energy. The is the easiest way to explain it. Peace, tae
  23. That is why sites like that are dumb. They just say things to get you to read their brand of Christianity...mostly FUNDIE. I don't bother with sites like that..they are all the same. My belief is..if you believe in God...fine..if you don't fine. I am not here to judge you. BTW. Jesus taught us to tell people about Christianty..but if the perosn doens't want to listen..we are suppose to leave them alone. However, Most Fundies..can't seem to get that through their head. Before you wonder...I belive that God has many names...and many ways to reach him...not just one. Peace, Tae
  24. Hi Patrick, If you need any moderators..let me know. Peace, tae
  25. G'day, Good to have you here. Which style of Military TKD did you study? Peace, Tae
