Belive what you want..but it is not the same..if you were realigious you would know that. Also Demons don't have the power of people that a lot of people think they do. They have no Power we do not give them. Chi is a force not a religion....but not belieg religiuos..you will never understand the difference. Peace, Tae

Religion and the Martial Arts
Taesujutsudrw replied to thaiboxerken's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In using the Bible to try and prove otherwise. The "turn the other cheek"..doesn't literally mean to do that. Christianity doesn't have the Tumud..and Since Jesus taught the torah and the tumud..the meaning gets lost. "turn the other cheek", is talking about seeking revenge. Not letting someone run other you. It would be morally wrong to aloow anyone to harm. maim, or kill someone, without trying to stop. it. It is like the 6th commanment...Due to bad translations..this commanament shows up in most Bibles, as "you shall not kill",,and foe centuries Christian pacifists have latched onto that commandment to try and get out of all kinds of obligations..even to serving in the Arm forces. However, when translated literally from the Hebrew, it states "You shall not MURDER." That is a marked difference between defending ones life..and taking a life for fun. But many people will read into it what they want. I guess what I am trying to say..is have had heard many reasons for different views of the arts. Anyway, I am Christian, and a martail artist..but I have never had a hard time understanding either...sometimes, especially what we call Fundies, will try anything to prove a point. Please note that in this case Fundies are not referring to poeple who take the Bible literally(although it was never meant to be taken that way), it has to do with the way they think they have all the answers..and their tratment toward others. I am off my soapbox now. Peace, Tae -
LOL, The last thing you ever want to call me is a Fundalmentalist. They do not think that way..and would ride me on a rail for stating it as such. They take the bible literally..I don't. I am an ordained non-denominational minster..and I have a Doctorate in Theology. The statement came from the theology club that I belong to..we have been discussing what the phrase means in the bible...so we decided that since God created Adom(Hebrew), that it more that like means he breathed air into his lungs. But like I said..the fundies would kill me for that. Oh well, I belong to a Southern Baptist church..but I go everywhere..including Mass(my late husband was Catholic). I am by far just a Christian. I do however, tend to follow the teachings of Christ..over the Doctrine of Paul. Peace, Tae

Nope..not in spite of my anger..because I have never seen the reason to GET angry. It is a waste of time. Remember I have been in this since I was 11...I was taught that anger has No Place in the arts except to goet one hurt. Also Angus, I have stated before that Tae was fine..and in refernce to you comment...Not it the South. Here we refer to all ladies as simply Ma'am. Peace, Tae

I am not a belt, I am a human being!
Taesujutsudrw replied to Tim Greer's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
egarlock, In all seven of the hard style that I have BB rank in..I went to white belt at every school.,, while being BB in the style I was in at the time. Of couse this was not the idea of the teacher..but mine. When a black belt goes to another system to teained..they are not trained as they would be as a white belt. Good point. Peace, Tae -

Taesujutsudrw replied to Tim Greer's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
F-S-K A teacher shouldn't need a belt around the student to be able to tell how much they are progressing. Actullay until the late 19th..and early 20th centuries..there were no belts in any styles. Peace, Tae -

Taesujutsudrw replied to Tim Greer's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Tim, My students in class fight all ranks...including BB. In open tournaments it is required that you wear the belt color that you are at. However, they never (except in Kids division) compete against anyone higher than their belt color. While you may not appreciate the rank system, there are some hard styles..that if you do not have the rank and the proof to back it up..they will not listen. Peace, Tae -
Angus, The point is..there is no such thing as controlled rage. You may think so..but sooner or later it will control you. People who think they can control anykind of anger or rage is missing the point of the arts entirely. Also..it is not Madam....It is Kyoshi...it took me yers to earn that title...llease since you call me averything else..try using this. Peace, Tae

Taesujutsudrw replied to Tim Greer's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Actually I satrted in Wing Chun before I studied anything else. I doen't(or at least didn't) have a belt system then. The belt rakns to me are personal...it is something to strive for in knowledge gained. However, I have students who don't wear belts..or for that matter who are BB level..and have never tested. When you compete..you should wear a belt. But I believe more than anything that The arts are in your heart and your mind..not around your waist. Peace, Tae -
You are entitle to your beliefs. But those of us who have used it..kow it works. It is not the same though as the Breath of God. But since you don't believe in religion...you would understand that...one is an energy force..that can be biuld up...however...without the so Breath of God..you wou not be alive to biuld it up. The actual breath of God is the air that sustains life itself....but you are correct..it it pointless to discuss energy..and the such..with those who do not wish to listen..and think they have all the answer.s Peace, Tae

Hi Jennifer, Wellcome to this great forum. I was taught Dim Hsueh. I also practice Qi Gong. I look forward to talking to you. Peace, Tae

Mauybe not..but the one who lost it with me is. Point to be taken...your anger can get you killed. Peace, Tae

As I have stated before..I have been in serious fights. The one who gets angry in the street is the one who ends up DEAD. It is the cool head that wins..not the angry one..controlled or not. Just a thought. Peace, Tae

I do cross train...that is why I hold BB ranks in seven hard style. Wing Chun does not have rank. I have fought Thai Boxers...so what. Like I said before anyone can be beat. If you choose not to do kata..no biggy, but It would teach you may things...especially about your true self. Tahis boxing is not the only system, or even the best...no system is. What is best is what wourks for those who study their particular style. One day you will learn, that martail arts has no place for the ego. BTW..I have been in street fights..and I do many kata..both empty and and weapons,so I guess that proves that wrong. One last thing...do not show disrespect for something you truly may not know about. Many poeple will say something about a subject that they do not have the experience in to judge. What has Martial Arts done for you?
Taesujutsudrw replied to Kickbutt's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Gee that is a hard one to answer...really. I have been practicing since I was 11, so I don't know anything else....I guess you could say it has kept me alive. Peace, Tae -

Hi Jamie, LOL, I have never seen a Scotman yet that I didn't trust..so why do I need to lock up the vaulables? Welcome to the forum..there is a lot of good people here. I know you will enjoy talking to all of them. Peace, Tae :karate: -
Actually it does better you ability in the street. By learning to take on more than one opponent at a time it cuts down on your freeezing up, if you are attacked by more than one person. My Hyungs are geared for that purpose..they are not only tradtional(9 of htem ar.), But the others are self-defense techniques combined. Hynugs are very important to the learning factor for a number of reasons, but mainly, because they will teach you to stay calm in certian situations. No offense taken, by not wanting to take my style...the first thing I require of everyopne..is that they leave their ego at the door. LOL, Somehow I think you might have a problem with that. I am not ususally one on titles, but if want to continue to refer to me as Ms. Williams..then I must say please use the title that goes with my rank..Kyoshi. Peace, Tae
