  1. Hi Patrick, Yeah I think that would be great. I teach five different weapons maily..so I think it would be quite interesting. Peace, Tae
  2. I have been competing for the last 37 yrs..Does that count? LOL Peace, tae
  3. If you knew the history of TKD. You would know that WTF Tae Kwon Do is the National sport of Korea. Tang Soo Do is the national art. I think the art can suffer just as much from students with oversized egos...In fact that is worse. Peace, Tae
  4. Afraid not...Ki (Japanese) Gi(Korean) Chi(Chinese) All mean the same thing "UNiversal Force". They are just different names in different languages..that have the same meaning. Don't confuse the fact that most religions(especially Eastern), use meditation to achieve oneness,,with that being only connected to religion. Chi can also be used to heal or kill. The same pressure point that can heal..can also kill. All three use the one point to concentrate strngth..but It has nothing to do with religion..it has to with with learning to contrll the body. Accupressure,,and accupuncture, as well as Reiki use Chi, Ki, Gi. That universal force..these are not religions..they are healing arts. Peace, Tae
  5. "Once I lost my anger...eteral peace was my companion" Chinese Proverb. You will never know power..until you let go ofthe anger. Until you do that..you will find that even controlled anger..has a habit of getting away from you. Peace, Tae
  6. Welcome to the Forum,,look forward to talking to you. Peace, tae
  7. First of all I am not a man. Second of all..before you go and state what someone else is saying..know what the subject is really about..and what we belive. There are always dimwits in everything, including religion..however, since I was raised Chrsitian, educated in Chrsitain Universities..I think I know what I am talking about. Just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read. Peace, Tae
  8. Whe I stared Tang Soo do, the belt ranks were: White, yellow, Green Red Black. In Tae Kwon Do..they were White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red Black. When I created Tae Su Jutsu, I went back to the White, yellow, Green, Red, Black. No stripes.. Peace, Tae
  9. Oh I forgot..so as not to confues anyone..I start in Wing Chun in 1964. Tang Soo do in 170 and Tae Kwon Do in 1971. LOL, I know I am getting old..but what can I say. Peace, tae
  10. WEll here is some more back up. My highest rank is in Tang Soo Do. My second highest Rank is in Tae Kwond do. I have studied both of these arts of over 30 years(my first style was Wing Chun). While most fighters would try to get indside, both of these systems are know for their kicking ability. Both teach 75/25 with the main Emphasis on kicking...if the kisk are executed correctly..a person won't see it coming. The reason for this train of thought is that the leg is the longest weapon you have...why let someone inside. I have competed since 1970,2 yrs full contact...that kick will get them every time. However, the hand work must never be forgotten..or worked on less. After all when you do get inside..you want to finish what was started. Peace, Tae
  11. Well to tell you the truth...I am just about a year away for 50. Well the breaking is left up to you..there is a lot more to TKD than breaking boards. I know you did well on your test..keep up the good work. Peace, Tae
  12. That is not truue about Christianty ordaining martial arts to be occult. I am a Christian, and an ordained minister. 99.9 percent of the people have have met in the last 37 yrs in the arts are Chrsitan. So I am afraid Your information is wrong...and yes I have been a Chrsitain loner then I have been in the arts. peace, tae
  13. Ah To be young again.....I WISH!!!! I am 48...until August. ) Peace, Tae
  14. Hi Rushman, I wasn't going to put you in there...but glad you decided to join me. Peace, Tae
  15. Welcome Angus, I look forward to talking to you. I think everyone here is young, except me. I have been in the arts 37 yrs. It has really been great. Again I am glad you decided to join us. Peace, Tae
  16. Hi Jack, I am also looking forward to your input on the boards. Peace, Tae
  17. They also have lager than life Egos. They are not the ultimate in styles..noone is. I studied with a freind of mine who spent 10yrs in thailand studying Thia boxing..although it is a good style...it still can be beat. my experience was getting to watch them be beat first hand...so I know it can be done. What difference does it make..I never said that thaiboxers couldn't beat Chi masters..but I have seen Chi masters beat thaiboxers also. ANYONE can be beaten if the conditions are right...Yes?
  18. It takes even more humility to realize that they will never master all there is to kow. Peace, tae
  19. However, If an instructor makes it clear to begin with that all black belts are to be respected, especially those teaching, students wouldn't be calling them by their first name would they? So that my be the Sr. Instructors fault. I have never had a problem with my students..they know that respect is a must at all times. Peace, Tae
  20. I'm an ordained minster so I do. I also know that alot of Taiboxers have been beaten by Chi master..so I would cll that tit for tat wouldn't you. Peace, tae
  21. For years I have watched people in the arts work had for what they earn. The one thing I have a problem with..is those who either, ahow a lack of respect, or those who think they have the right to demand it. I don't like either. Respect is something that is earned..never demanded. Black Belts who demand it..will turn out students, who will also demand it. For instance I know a man, who is now a Hanshi(8th), who demands that everyone refer to him by his title at all times. This to me is nothing but arrogance on his part. I was taught that the higher the rank..the more humble the person. However, it would seem that today that is not true. It would seem that some high ranking BB's actually get full of themselves...they think they now have all the answers..and they way is the only way. These BB's seem to forget that they should never stop learning..even when they create their own system. This is not the way of the arts..you should never stop learning. There is a saying "A king who demands respect will have soilders who will fight for him. A king that earns respect, will have soilders who will die for him." So I have some words of Advice(for those who wish to listen), Be the best student you can be. Be the best BB you can be. Be the best teacher you can be. Always show humility the higher up you go in the ranks. Never stop learning...until the day you die. And most of all...Be the best person you can be. Oh and by the way, always remember..no matter how much you learn..you good you are..and how hig the rank. The is someone who knows more...is better..and a higher rank. Peace to all, Tae
  22. A true master...will never consider themsleves a masterof the arts...truly it would take a life time. The best one can do is hope to master themselves. Innovation comes form learning..when we stop learning..we stop living. Peace, Tae
  23. LOL, I think you took part of that the wrong way. One my study was done and is still going one..and two..I just menat that if I had know I could come to you for some of it..I wouldn't have wasted the money for tickest.s LOL ) It took me two to three years just to hunt everyone down. I have found the most differences so far in Tang Soo Do. But who knows after 37 yrs...nothing surprises me any more.....LOL we could wake up in the morning..and all be wrong. Peace, Tae P.S. I was not being disrespectful..sorry if you took it that way. I and still doing it..The study was half way complete last year.
  24. My history of the arts..comes from going to the countries..and talking to the poeple who study them.. Tae Su Jutsu has nothing to do with Tai Chi. The history on Tai Chi came from one Grandmaster Chow..who has taight it for over 40 yrs..in Hong Kong. He told my that it can not be accurately dated Back betoun 600 C. E. So if you feel that is wrong..I am very sorry. I am only recording what was told to me. Also Pankrantion is considered an Martial art. Although it was in the Olympics....The competitors were members of the Armies of Greece..they competed to keep in shape about themsleves. Again I am only reporting what was told to me by practioners of The arts. Although I personally practice Tai Chi..and Qi Gong..I do not teach it. I am sorry if you consider the info wrong. IMHO, i had to take the info from the practioners as fact of them knowing their on history...to do otherwise...would have been disrespectful. Since you have more history than I do...I will not offer any more of what I was told. Peae be with you, Tae
  25. Welcome to the foruem...I am sure you will enjoy it here...good people, and good discussions. Peace, Tae
