  1. I had a second degree tear to my right MCL. Fixed it with TENS treatements and a chiropractor. Took 6 months though. Surgery may be better. Seek a second opinion.
  2. Do you also have pain in the back of the legs?
  3. The boundaries change with different jurisdictions, but by and large, the language implies that you can use as much force as neccessary to disengage and escape. Unfortunately, the better trained you are, the more carefull you need to be because a good lawyer will focus on the fact that with your training you should have better control.
  4. Need your BB, preferably 3rd or 4th Dan. Are you going to associate? Who is going to recognize your gradings?
  5. And longer jacket. Makes stances during forms seem lower.
  6. Sounds painfull, one of my knee is pretty shot too. The bad news is, as you get older, it is not going to get any better. The good news is, you will reach a point where you can actually hear yourself get up, joint by joint
  7. Size 5 may be a bit ling for 5'8". I'm 5'10" and wear a 5. Also, you might have gotten a 'tournament cut' they tend to be longer. Wash it in hot water, it'll shrink. Try it on wet. If it fits, hang to dry. If it's still too long, put in dryer. That's the reason I'd never order a gi over the internet, unless it was of the same brand I'm currently wearing.
  8. ahh, but it now encompases more space. it just makes it easier to absorb blows and trap the fist What can I say, it's hard to type on a laptop while lying on your back. Back surgery was 10 days ago, I still can't sit that long yet.
  9. The bely color changes with your number of posts.
  10. I don't think I'd wear it do do high impact stuff with (running, jumping jacks). Otherwise it may be OK
  11. ???????????????? Losing weigth has nothing to do with temperature. It's simple math: Calories in - Calories burned, if the result is negative, you are loosing weigth. When's the last time you saw a fat olympic swimmer? Go with swimming. Great workout, easy on the joints.
  12. Sounds like damage to the MCL. SEE A DOCTOR. Never 'suck up the pain'. Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. The MCL can be rehabed without surgery but it takes time. I got a 2nd degree tear on one of mine couple of years ago and it took 6 months og 3-times a week therapy to get it fixed. I still wear a brace while training.
  13. Restarted at 42.
  14. Just got home from the hospital. The surgery was a success. My lower back hurts from the surgery, but at least I can walk. Now starts the long recovery and rehab. Should be 2-3 months before I can train fully again.
  15. The results are in. After seeing a neurosurgeon on Wednesday, the diagnosis of a severely herniated disk at L5-S1 was confirmed. It's been 3 months, during which I've been training. However 2 weeks ago, it suddenly stopped me from being able to walk. I'm going under the kinfe on Tuesday (March 16). One month of no physical activities, and then a slow resumption of activities. So I'm looking at 2-3 months before I can resume full training. Getting old really sucks.
  16. 180cm is a touch over 5'10 3/4"
  17. It's called an edema. It fluids. The body surounds the btuised tissues with fluids to protect it. It can take months to fully reabsorb. Apply Arnica to it.
  18. 6' is 183 cm. 2.54 cm to the inch
  19. I don't approve of any of the 'conditioning' methods. Unless you make a living fighting, inflicting irreparable damage to your joints and sensitive body parts just in case you'll get in a fight makes no sense. I'd rather take my chances that I'll break a knuckle in a real fight than face arthritis later.
  20. Sure. But then you screw up your feet so you can't walk, you've already screwed up your hands so you can't hold the crtuches. You'll be easy prey lying on your back.
  21. Hydration and stretching
  22. I'm amazed by the posters from England, with free health care, who are relunctant to see a doctor.
  23. I'm 5'10" 200lbs. I'd like to be 185. Want to swap 15lbs??
