  1. Wow! Congrats! Am I correct in saying, you have done Kuk Sool for only two years, and are a black belt now? How much do you train? That's awesome!
  2. Thanks for the pics! You caught one of my instructors! LOL He advanced to 4th degree that weekend!
  3. Sevenstar, I am doing an isometric workout for several reasons. It's aerobic, builds my core muscles, takes inches off very quickly, creates "cuts" in my muscles(that weightlifting never did) it's rehabilitative,it works the entire muscle(the muscle insertions, not just the belly of the muscle) The excercises are very comprehensive. They never get easy because you are constantly "tweaking" your form to make them more difficult. Along with the program is a patented back stretch, this stretch puts your body in proper alignment and has been proven to put you in the fat burning mode more quickly. This also enables your lymph system to flow more thoroughly.
  4. Thanks Wolverineguy! I am doing everything that you stated.....protein drink and all. I see you have AOL IM,do you mind if I IM you sometime? P.S. Congrats on the new baby!
  5. Hey Wolverine! First,I'd like to say I'm a female. I am 5'3" and weigh about 140lbs. I gained a little weight over the winter, but most people wouldn't consider me overweight. My measurements are 38-(25-26)-36 My waist is up from 24 inches. I am fairly muscular, but have a layer of fat. I hope that isn't TMI,hehehe. Does my protein input(96g) seem about right?
  6. I am embarking on a " get unbelievably fit" adventure Here's my plan: I want to lose 8lbs of fat, maintain my muscle and encorporate weightlifting back into my WO schedule. At present,I do an isometric aerobic WO 2-3x a week, the same WO for 30 minutes twice a week, and an hour at the dojang 2x a week. I am planning on doing my MA 3-4x a week, when my shoulder feels better. In between the above WOs,I practice my MA,here and there. I eat fairly healthy, but want to lose this layer of winter fat. I was told that I should get about 96g of protein. Is that too much? I am starting a stricter diet,3 meals,2-3 snacks(protein drinks) a system cleanse, and presently take a multi-vitamin and alfalfa. Any workout or nutrtional advice is welcome! Also some good-tasting meal ideas wouldn't be turned down... Thanks!!
  7. Sorry to hear of your injury. I tore my ACL many years ago,and never had the surgery. I have thought about it,but hate to go through the recovery. (I did have my meniscus repaired(2000) Anyway, good luck with your surgery and take care!
  8. My take on this is: I don't care where the techniques came from,as long as they work for ME! But if one wants to educate themselves on the Kuk Sool Won History,I'm sure they will find it very interesting. I know I do! BTW,I've been told I look quite sexy in my uniform LOL
  9. Do you know exactly what you did to it yet? There are many things that could be wrong, and each have different courses of action.
  10. Hi! I witnessed two different techniques, one palm and two spinning kicks. I would assume my first break will be with a palm strike. Since I am nursing a right shoulder injury and am right handed,I am nervous. I would probably attempt it with the left palm. I am confident though, that my instructor wouldn't send me out to do it,if he thought I wasn't ready. Not to mention, this test isn't any time soon (Thank goodness for great instuctors)
  11. Hi Doug, I'm not sure if I will be required to break a board for my next test(for yellow belt) I was watching some upper belts do it. It seems fine if your aim is good. I just dread hitting the board wrong Thanks for the congrats guys! I am loving Kuk Sool
  12. Hello, I am so psyched I got my second stripe! My next test will be for my yellow belt. I watched some breaking............I am intimidated by this! How hard is it?
  13. I am 5' 3",muscular and I don't really weigh myself. I probably weigh around 140lbs(gained a bit over the Holiday ) Most guess me to weigh in the 120s area I tend to go by my measurements to gage my size. My goal is to lose about 20 lbs,to ease the strain on my joints....
  14. Craig, Look at your upper right corner, under articles, there's an explanation of what Kuk Sool is. Thanks for the congrats guys!
  15. Basically,I am using it to focus my energy(on my injury) I think that my instructor is aware of my interest and was just covering what Ki Breathing could do. He knows I have studied in other related areas,so my understanding is a bit more than a beginner(where this is concerned) I have used similar techniques in the past. I don't want to make it sound like he is teaching me advanced techniques, before I am ready or qualified
  16. Thanks for the replies. Doug,if you remember,I am very new to Kuk Sool. Anything, you would like to add would be appreciated. My instructor is trying to get me to focus on Ki Breathing to help heal a shoulder injury(and other aches and pains) Anyone have any experience or comments on that?
  17. Has anyone done acupuncture? Did it work for you? What did you do it for? Would you recommend it? Thanks
  18. Hello, I was wondering what experiences in Ki breathing have you had? Do you believe it can heal you? Has it helped? What do you use it for? Or....would also like to know if you think it's b.s. Thanks
  19. I have done isometric excercises for years now. They are a great way to strengthen your muscles and are very easy on the joints. After many years of weightlifting,I found that isometrics gave me "cuts" that lifting didn't. I do believe though, that if you are looking to "bulk up" Isometrics won't really help you do that. They more or less help you build long lean muscles. The type I do,work the muscles insertions, instead of just the muscle"belly"
  20. Hello, I am having shoulder issues (again) I can't get in to see the doctor right away. I was wondering if someone could tell me what a torn rotar cuff feels like? Does the pain subside with rest? I am desperately praying that this is not what has happened. Any info would be comforting...... Thanks
  21. Thanks Kid! Did you know we live pretty close to one another? ~Jazz
  22. Oooops sorry....it's a tornado kick.
  23. Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a website for some video clips. My main interest(right now) is a jumping spin kick(I think that's what it is called) It would be very helpful to find clips of Kuk Sool Thanks in advance. ~Jazz
  24. Thanks Doug. It's nice to hear that they have a good reputation. I'm loving my training, and my instructors are great! Each one adds their own special touch,it makes for a good understanding.(at least for me)
