Its always a good idea to wear bag gloves anyway, because all it takes is one mistake and you are missing a chunk of your knuckle, and this will probably affect your training for quite some time. If you dont like gloves try hand wraps instead

who do you think is the greatest fighter in the world?
Ozaru replied to Akira13's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Mike Tyson, because he is not human -
I wouldn't put too much concern in learning how to do a double kick, that is what is one of the moves that causes people to believe TKD is not street effective. Spend more time with your jump back kick

What would happen if birds developed a penchant for human blood? -
Steer clear of anyone advising Muay Thai kicks anywhere above the waist on the street. From what I've seen the Muay Thai kick is very straight legged and swung into the target. That is very telegraphed, quick but telegraphed. And it may work against a scrub. But most people will catch the leg in the air, most of the myth of the kicks power comes from the fact that most Kickboxing or Muay Thai matches dont allow grappling and or takedowns. For the street wait for your opportunity for a sidekick to the body, it is your strongest kick and will catch experienced and inexperienced alike. *Damn I'm Pretty*

Southpaws !!!!!
Ozaru posted a topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I hate when people fight me southpaw!!! There must be some logic to why they are so difficult to fight. I've seen good right hand boxers get beat by average southpaws, just because they are so awkward. In MA we are taught to fight with both sides, but most people are more comfortable in a conventional stance. (left foot fwd). Any reasons why they're so hard to fight? Any tips? -
"Everyday skipping for 2 minutes then patterns 10th Kup to 1st Kup so thats 10 x 2 minute skipping with the pattern as the break" Skipping ??? Are you serious, I hope you mean jumping rope. 2 min of skipping followed by, 3 min of ring around the rosy, and 4 min of pattycake. This training will give you what you need to become a master ....a pokemon master

Allow me to preface What I am trying to say is that by the time you have reached or gotten close to your Black Belt. I'm sure that you have fought several hundred, if not thousand fights. Also, experiencing what it feels like to badly beat someone. You've tried to destroy bags with punches and kicks. You've been driven past the limit then been driven further...and continued. You've felt more pain during classes than most pro athletes feel in their carreers. You are in top physical condition. And although most Masters and instructors counterbalance your aggresive tendencies with wisdom and ideals,.... Do you ever find yourself going crazy having to hold back the rage you want to unleash on someone who deserves it? Not everyone can be the peaceful master who walks away from a confrontation. Most people that give me their little disrespectful attitudes, have no clue how bad I could hurt them. The worst part is at heart I'm a nice guy, who just happens to have a demon inside fighting to get out. I feel like I'm losing control. Does anyone feel the same or am I alone in this?

My name is Ben D. from Texas Being in a gi in a karate class is my very first memory. I was 5 years old, unlike other children who played and talked while the instructor was teaching, I was very respectful and listened to everything he had to say. So much so that while standing in Baro position(attention) while he was talking, I had a little accident because I didn't want to interrupt. I got to the rank of Brown belt in Tang Soo Do by the age of 8, as I was getting prepared for my next test, my parents went through a bitter divorce. I lost the desire to do anything, much less fight. Although my skills began to deteriorate, I knew Martial Arts was a vital part of who I was, I could still feel it. When in college I began to study Tae Kwon Do, and have enjoyed it thoroughly for the past five years. I was again bettering myself by training my muscles, developing a respectful attitude, and developing good self discipline. Although many people argue styles, and train for different things, we can all agree that Martial Arts can be beneficial to anyone depending on what they would like to improve.

When & Why To Fight or Surrender?
Ozaru replied to bigpopparob2000's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
You gotta try, thats why you do what you do in the Martial Arts. Maybe its me but I'd rather die trying to save a loved one from being hurt, as opposed to living with the shame of knowing I might have been able to prevent a murder or rape. I'd rather be a lion for a day than a lamb that lives forever. -
