  1. Hi there I'm positive hiraken to the throat does kill. (it's gonna hurt bigtime m8) a knife strike to the neck would be potentially lethal. I'm happy to be 'proved' wrong if it's possible. Heck I'm not even a 1st Dan. whatdo I know
  2. strictly not recommended in a street fight for obvious reasons! aside from hiraken to the throat shuto to the neck hammerfist to the bridge of the nose ok any kind of powerful blow to the throat/neck what are the quickest other ways to kill people with a single blow. Why I am asking? I am strictly a man of peace. I'm writing a story. Twice in unarmed combat the hero kills a man with a single blow. Each time hiraken to the throat. Just wondering if I was missing anything I hadn't heard of?
  3. oops forgot one 'trick' nun chukas ;P I've pulled them out on 2 people (carried legitimately after a training session) both times the guys ran away. Of course in the UK most people don't have guns
  4. have confidence and walk proudly like a man. No one ever picks a fight with me. ahh the benefits of being older + 6 ft and muscular
  5. most Karate I learnt was about responding to attacks. So wait until they have committed themselves and counter strike. Grab their leg if they are slow to retract it and get them off balance. side step their kick and hit them in the face. don't try and out kick a kicker. Keep your guard up at all times as well. good luck
  6. I get stared at (hmm maybe I should be concerned?!) heh if it's by a woman, then I smile back. If it's by a man I ignore them. Can't pick a fight with people for looking. there's plenty of fools/rude scum in the world. Fly the flag of peace and smile
  7. 2nd Dan in my style included demonstrating all Katas in mirror image as good as in standard format
  8. when I did martial arts regularly I was like you guys. 4 hours in dojo a week and 10 hours at home. Excellent adrenaline rush. If you don't practise ever outside the dojo then (so long as you practise right) it will take so much longer to get good
  9. practise, practise and practise. relax. do NOT tense up it slows you. power comes from the hips, technique, speed and placement snap those punches and kicks quick and back quick. as for hard blocks. Not my style. Evasive moves and glancing blocks were what I learnt. One of my instructors said 'block a hard kick and risk breaking your arm'. Put me off I can tell you
  10. one of the many aims of the Karate I was taught was balance and staying on your feet. If on the ground, face the opponent and get up asap, not forgetting to try and sweep them forget about UFC. If someone got me on the ground in that way I'd be biting their legs or sqeezing their testicles so hard they would pop
  11. constant awareness and locks/control/throws. punching/kicking is great but throwing someone to the ground in a controlled way is nice as well.
