  1. fireka don't worry about what I think about you. it sounds like you take your training very seriously. That's good. I do believe that training with others in a class is the best way though. You get the friendship of your fellow fighters, the ability to watch various others perform, and get instant instruction rather than develop any bad habits
  2. Knees. Started with warmth when kicking. Ended up after years being painful. Not agony but pain I took as a warning about training. I still trained for another 18 months but saw a surgeon who did an x-ray and said it was lack of cartlidge? so the knee bone rubs against the socket too much? anyway point was - no cure. continued stress on knees would increase the pain. Dammit! sorry if my medical description isn't quite right. This was a few years ago and is just a bad memory. Walking out of the hospital feeling rather fed up! I'm all happy now though
  3. sigh! I had to do it all by myself and it must have taken me at least 1 whole minute
  4. woah. Bas Rutten is someone I would not want to fight. He would whip my *! He's a quality fighter and a powerful hitter. Excellent thanks!
  5. Hi there telsun my signature isn't lying I'm afraid. Injury really finished me a few years ago. It really upset me as I wanted to be a full time Karate instructor. however life goes on a few miles north of London. In the ghetto is where I live I have a good memory of my lessons and a reader and watcher of fighting as well
  6. When you can break a tree like Van Damm then record the clip and post it on the internet to impress us
  7. oh dear. You are going to put me off my evening treat of a coffee and some chocolate. yuk!
  8. hi by full time martial arts person I meant you have time to spend the same amount of time others work for a company doing martial arts instead. here's a link for you: http://www.uechi-ryu.com/videos/u_kata.html can I have my reward in this life please!
  9. I was caned at school. That's probably why I hate canes!
  10. cos I've had a post deleted already and been told off. I thought Wisconsin was in Canada. Phew good job I didn't insult you or anything. You might have come and bombed my country or something
  11. for sure. How could you ever think you could fight someone if you weren't prepared to get hit? Personally nothing winds me up as much as getting smacked in the mouth especially. if anyone does this they had better knock me out otherwise I'll hit them back far harder I hope anyway
  12. Way of Peace is what Wado Ryu stands for. nothing wrong with running away. except I have dodgy knees so I have to stand and fight. grrrrrrr
  13. Ju Jitsu I was going to say but then I searched on the internet about Kempo and found a site and it looks effective to me and a combination of Ju Jitsu & Karate
  14. true Drunken Monkey. but I haven't seen many people walking down the street carrying a sword I have seen a nice demonstration by Wado Ryu karate instructors defending against sword attacks. respect to them. It was excellent to watch! including the defend the straight slash down onto the top of your head by catching the blade in the palms of your hands when it's above your head! good timing is necessary for that I suspect
  15. nice to see they don't believe in hyperbole ahem a cane 'The finest craftsmanship of the world's greatest Self Defense Tool' lol
  16. which part of the UK is Wisconsin in? this forum is too international! I'm used to posting in foul english abbreviations. I will have to be careful

  21. Come on Steven Segal kicks *. I know they are films but I wouldn't have liked to fight him when he was leaner and meaner than he is now I thought he was an Akido person?
  22. you just want to roll around on the floor admit it I'll admit I found it hard to concentrate sometimes when one of the attractive female karate students was kicking nicely
  23. 20- 30 normally but depending on time of year as low as 10. had 1st Dan, 2nd Dan and a 5th Dan instructor depending on who was available.
  24. [quote name="I prefer full-contact over all other types. Beginners need padding' date=' but they also need to train with less padding. Injury is a possibility and more often than not someone gets a bruise or bloodied face. But these results are trivial in the pursuit of the end goal. However, like I mentioned earlier, that is all relevant to the goals of the martial artist. MA Nominate in the Karateforums.com Awards respect to you but I'm ugly enough without more hits to my lovely face! Anyway no one hit me in the face (ok just a couple of times) because I always kept my guard up when we sparred
  25. like any skilled person in anything it looks so easy but that's years of practise
