  1. hi guys. i've been doing some research and i was wondering. are there any kung fu schools around VA? i know ya get tired of telling me what schools are what and all that. please answer back. thanks in advance. see ya
  2. true. i have no ideai why they make movies after video games. i guess they think they can successed where others have failed. see ya.
  3. yes. the 2nd mortal kombat movie sucked. but the first MK movie was ok. a little weird (mortal kombat 1). but still a ok movie. the new one deadly alliance game was ok, sporting diffrent fighting styles. but none of them are truely authentic. but even that was a pretty good game. anyways thanks for replying. oh. and i almost forgot to tell you all. MK 3 the movie is coming out. i just hope cristopher lambert who play raiden in the first mortal kombat movie reprises his role as raiden. anyways see ya.
  4. good point, te. to me, learning from a bad instructor is just as; if not more worse, than learning from books. see ya.
  5. who here likes mortal kombat? thanks guys. see ya.
  6. to tell the truth. the MAs books are not the best way to go. heck, you would be better off learning martial arts from an ancient scroll than learning from to days books on martial arts. i once tried to teach myself wing chun. but i lost intrest sense. but if you think it an option to learn MAs from a book, than by all means,do it. its very hard to learn from a book. but still... philosophical martial arts books have some value to them. because, its more than just learning martial moves, as you already know. philosophical MAs books don't teach you moves. but the books that teach you move, don't teach you the meaning behind every move you learn. so if you can, get a martial arts teacher. at least try and find a sparring partner. but never the less, if your self-motivated go and learn from a silly book. otherwise, just find a MAs school somewhere in your area. ya know? anyways, good luck. and happy training. see ya.
  7. thanks man. i heard about that school. but i never really had much of a good feeling about it. don't take this the wrong way, but still. well i'll check it out. thanks.
  8. this may sound a bit small-minded. but whatever dosen't bend breaks.
  9. shorin-ryu karate. thats my 2 cents. otherwise, try wing chun kung fu.
  10. you can sweep them anyway you want to. however, just make sure the opponent is weaken'd by you, otherwise do the sweep anyway you like. ya know what i mean? bye.
  11. hi guys, i was wondering? is there any hapkido schools in VA,USA? thanks guys.
  12. true that ippon seio-nage is a judo throw treebranch , however. 95%of all judo throws are derived from jujutsu. ya see? bye.
  13. yes. and the others charaters in the VD movie had more charisma than van damme himself,LOL.
  14. the other game with the red and white charaters was karate champ, tibby. but, really the first street fighter really was a cross between karate champ and some other old game the came out in the 80's. well thanks for repliying guys. bye
  15. mishima style karate is cool, but it is a martial art built for a video game. mishima uses powerful punches and high kicks. i heard it a mix of tai kwon do, some kind of karate style,LOL ,and jiu-jitsu and/or judo. but im not sure it would be good for real SD. just to add something to the following charaters. heihachi, kazuya, jin kazama and lee cholan. jin don't study misima style karate, everseince his grandfather heihachi turned on him. bye
  16. hi i was wondering about aikido being good for self defense. is aikido good for self defence? what are its strong points? what are its weak points? or is the aikido good for SD when the practator uses it there way and not the traditional way? basicly... is aikido good for self defense?thanks guys
  17. thanks guys. i belive that speed and footwork are great parts to become a good fighter. especialy when comes to such MAs, such as san soo kung fu and jiu-jitsu. well all poits aside thanks.
  18. hello all. i was wondering. how much can shadow-boxing help a martial artist in training? i know you atleast need to eventualy sighn up for classes and/or already be training in a MA school. but still, how much can a martial artist benifit from shadow-boxing? thanks guys.
  19. your right. a lot of kung fu schools, come to think of it don't really revolve there styles around show. and not many of them don't really care much about making dojo chains around town and/or the country. don't take this the wrong way, many kung fu schools do the right thing, by not getting in to the same politics as karate/TKD schools. so any ways, thanks guys. see ya.
  20. well... ya see, Hung Gar Kung Fu is hard/soft, external MA. so its both hard and soft, except it leans more towards the hard/external way, with a little soft, internal ki mixed in to it. so basicly it is a hard/soft external martial art (hung gar kung fu). well i hope this helps you,ok. bye.
  21. does pa kua artists go to the ground? thanks guys.
  22. hey guys i was wondering? why is a kung fu school so hard to find? i mean everywhere i look its karate and/or tee kwon do. thanks guys
