Define "ninja" If you mean invisible assassins, slilent in the shadows, phantoms of the night, masters of all weapons, I'm going to say none. If you mean people who study ninjitsu as a martial art, I really don't know. I am sure there's some school out there with some reputable claim.

Jhoon Rhee Taekwondo Vs. ITF Taekwondo
Akima replied to taichi4eva's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
NI an chi's are alos shotokan forms still used in TSD. -
Sano, Was Vick overrated at the begining of the season? Mcnair? Brooks? The fact of the matter is McNabb was rated so highly because he had excellent stats in the previous two years. In both those years the Eagles went to the NFC Campionship. Mcnabb would have been highly rated regardless of his race! As for the media wanting a Black QB to do well, there is Mcnair, Vick (who I hope comes back healthy) and Brooks (who, If he had a better team might have better stats). Culpepper? This is not the NFL of ten years ago. There are a lot of teams with Black QBs Limbaugh's statment shows where his mind set is. Second it also shows his ignorance of the NFL. He doesn't understand the game and should not be on a pregame show. Was Patrick Ramsey under rated because he was white? No, it's beacuse the Redskins sucked last year and this would be his first full year as a starter. Anyone who thinks Mcnab was overrated for his race is just stupid!

Jhoon Rhee Taekwondo Vs. ITF Taekwondo
Akima replied to taichi4eva's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I can't say who Rhee studied from, But he certianly is the right age to have studied wtih choi. Rhee has his own set of books covering each of the forms. I have not heard of Chulgi, But Bassai is a shotokan form. remember, that most of the Korean arts as we know them today derived from Japanese styles. Most TKD reject many of those forms now. Bassai is still taught in som TKD schools. It's a BB level forms in many TSD schools. I have never seen a Joon Rhee student do Bassai though. -
Don't even get me started. He is a total fraud. No one can provide any evidence of any of his claims. It would be better to compared him to ashida kim I remain, Akima

why do you hate Tarentino films? -
Azmyth, If people are not earning their ranks, you should find another school. Itr's bad for the student, it's bad for you, it's bad for the art. I cannot stnad schools that just give out belts. Second, if a 2nd degree cannot exhibit control, or does not want to exhibit control, again, you should look for another school. it means there is a lack of respect being taught.

How long were you off? What rank were you when you stopped? I know a guy, 1st gup, who studied until he was 15, then took a 15 year "break". He's been working hard for over a year now and is just getting back in form. He's dealing with menatlly being 15 and realizing his body is 30. Can't throw things like he used to. But it's taken him a year to leanr that, get back into form, and most importan, find ways to adapt now that he is older. You are only 22, Just go to class and work. do kicking drills both fast and slow to build up you legs and endurance. If you work as hard as this guy, I am sure you will be back in form very soon. O and keep fighting this guy, or someone better.

Kill Bill

I bet it will be pretty good. It will be an allusion to many of the classic martial arts films of the 1970's. Bruce lees jump suit, there's a fight in the preview that's taken from an old Chuck Norris movie, The old asian master. If liked 70's martial arts films, I think you will enjoy this. And ever since the matirx, it doesn't matter who the actor is. They make them look like they can fight. Guess that's one more job a martial artist can't bank on...kung fu action hero -
BJJ and Multiple Opponents
Akima replied to ValeTudo's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
"In my experience when it is against multiple attackers they try to topple the person, then kick/stomp them on the ground" Yea, it's beaten to be beaten on the ground by a group of people. "A standup fighter will generally be quite agile and able to avoid takedowns easier than one might think, given room to manuever. It's true that it's easier to close the distance than it is to increase the distance, but I think that that is offset by the relatively greater speed and agility of a person who trains primarily standup fighting." Just curious how many fights you've been in? Where's all that speed an agility going to get you when four guys rush you take you to the ground and start kicking the S%*! out of you. There was this guy at my HS talked like that. was top ranked in the state, really great TKD guy, He was excellent. Took on four kids at once thinking he was bruce lee. Got taken to the ground and beaten until the cops came. I have seen worse in bar fights. The fact is thwere are very few real life situatiions where you'll be in an evironment to move like you'd like to. -

MonkeyGirl, How many fights have you ever seen just be stand up fights? espcially with multiple attackers? you will get grabed and you will grapple. TKD and any other high kick empashising art would be usless. after the first Kick, your on the ground weather you hit first guy or not. then what your going to do? -
sounds Like * to me. A Mcdojo at that. anything special about his gear? I had one teach once, chaged us whole sale. That was deal. this guy is after your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Why do you study TKD?
Akima replied to The Saint's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
You make a good point Miguksaram, I have seen guys advertise HKD with tkd and they didn't know crap...good point. -
At a credible school, I say 4 years. If they say under 4 years, I would be suspect. Most often, when I see a school giving out black belts in short periods of time, the student has been given the short end of the stick.

Belt Gradings ... technique quality vs quantity?
Akima replied to iolair's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
soounds fine. Jujitsu takes years literally, to really make the techniques smooth. It's better to learn alot at once, you'll begin to see the philosophy/science behind the art and then polish it, creating techniques that work for you as you should see in advanced levels. If tyou are not seeing that at the advanced level, then become supicious. -
Please state why one would beat the other. And chuck was pretty bad * by then even if the rest of the western world was not. He was a very accomplished Martial artists. I just think Bruce's style of getting inside would have tip the balance in his favor. Besides. would chuck have trianed with Bruce if he could beat him? I don't think so.

Akima replied to The Saint's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I don't know if they should change their name Shazam. But they might want to market the fact that the teach some hopkido. I personaly would be inclined to look at a tkd school that offered Hopkido along with tkd -
