I Agree with all the possibilities mentioned above, especially the one about swimming since that really gets you into shape. Another great way to improve your shape is to jump rope. I skipping about 10 min a day and that really pays off

"Several times a day" I'm basically stretching every time I don't have anything else to do....like when watching TV or making homework etc. Great way to get some training while doing other more exciting stuff. . It really pays off to strech when watching TV etc. I mean: That's several hours

Wearing weights all day long, will improve your strength (naturally). I've done this myself for about half a year now, but as "searcher" and other said, you'll get injured if you use too heavy weights. Basically if your daily job is to run around and be very active it'll be bad for you, but if you just go around doing nothing, you'll improve your strength and speed. It's like Bretty101 said: You can't move at full speed since that'll be bad for you

It took me about 5-6 years to gain the black belt (Shotokan JKA karate)

I agree. You have to "fight" the kata, not just performing it

The strongest living fighter nowadays are properly some unknown shaolin monk in china. Unlike many of the known great fighters such as bruce lee, myke tyson, ali and so on, they train ALL of their life, not "wasting" time on other things such as publicity, education and such. They start training at the age of 5, and continue training every day until their deaths. The greatest fighter ever to exist, must in my opinion be some ninja, since they like the monks trained their whole life, starting at the age of 5 or so. (sorry for spelling errors)

We (also shotokan JKA) also train "sanban zuki", but i think that it is a quite common kombination in other arts too (sorry if my eng. suck)

In denmark JKA shotokan the colors are: 10th kyu - White 9th kyu - Yellow 8th kyu - Orange 7th kyu - Red 6th kyu - Green 5th kyu - Blue 4th kyu - purple 3rd kyu - brown 2nd kyu - brown 1st kyu - brown 1st dan - black 2nd dan - black.....and so on up to 10th dan.

Shotokan is one, if not, of the best arts ever created, but it as said by G95champ a very deep art, and it takes a lot of time to even understand. If leart correctly shotokan is very effective in real life fights. and "Superleeds".......altough shotokan may have some pretty long stances, it wont be bad for your knees if you do them correctly, since they are developed so that your knees are pointing forwards, which meens you wont harm your knee. People harm their knees because they are pointing their knees sidewards, which meens that you will try to bend your knees a little the wrong way. (sorry if my english suck)
