  9. Everyone please respect each others opinions. There are many who agree with Shotochem and many who fell as you do rb. This isn't just a scientific issue it does have an emotional aspect as well.
  10. The guy who holds the Guinness record for most boards broken in one minute has broken over 400 boards in a minute using either a knife hand or a hammerfist strike with boards in stacks of five. For a break a thon I would think that using a break with less flash but more power would be the way to go.
  11. Well done and good luck at your tournament.
  12. Kirves I really like your response to this thread. The only thing I could possibly add is that when you think you see what kata is about the next day you see how much more there is you haven't tapped into yet. I don't think it is possible to know all there is about even a single kata or it's use.
  13. Palm heel strikes are also good breaking strikes for multiple boards. Rb when boards are broken they are usually 10x12 1 inch thick pine boards. It takes about the amount of force to break one that it does to break a human rib.
  14. I think as much contructive conversation as can be had as occured on this topic. Time to close it off.
  15. I am not going to play this round but I feel a need to state that the first game was really a lot of fun. It takes a bit of commitment but it is worth it.
  16. YMCA and community rec center programs can be very good it all depends on the instructor. For those who truly want to pass on their knowledge with out the overhead of a building they can be an excellant resource. Some locations are more flexible that others in terms of allow instructors to have more control over thier class enrollment.
  17. Welcome to the forum.
  18. Yes pick them apart when you practice. Do just segments of a kata until that particular part flows smoothly. Then add the segments together until the whole thing begins to flow. Many people look jerky when they do kata. They never get past the point of doing it on counts.
  19. Think horse stance KarateKid.
  20. Well now that there have been a few laughs I think I am going to close this thread. Let's not get too silly.
  21. Welcome to the forum.
  22. I also remember well the Challanger explosion. I was getting ready to move in here. It is a great loss. There is a cost to expansion of knowledge. Those who become sacrifices in the quest for knowledge are true heroes.
  23. Welcome to the forum.
