Good luck on your test. I have to agree with those who think that sensei's tend to criticize those with the most promise the harshest. And I may be strange but I think it is better to have things picked apart right before test than to be given false confidence.

I looked at some of those video clips. I see what you are talking about but he isn't really bouncing if you look closer. The hips are level but the rotation looks a bit exagerated. If you notice his head stays level too. You can notice that the movement to change direction he is looking is a bit exagerated. Sometimes movements are exaggerated on video to make them more noticeable for illustrative purposes. It was also interesting that I recognized much of what was done as very similar to what I have learned in shotokan and shorin ryu.

Wanna see your younger sister make a face? Here's how
SaiFightsMS replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in General Chat
My 40 year old sister hasn't figured that out yet. I think she has realized that I am a little bit more laid back about things like that than she is. But then I have four more years until I hit 50 so check back with me then. -
Are you sure of the spelling?

There is a great deal of myth and lore in the martial arts. We tend to think that most of it is all ancient myth and lore. It is kind of thought to provoking to realize that some things of that nature happened in our lifetime. About the disapproval others expressed when he started teaching non chinese. Orientel societies were traditionally closed to outsiders. Chinese used to refer to occidentals as "foreign devils".

http://nunchaku.home.ro/okinawae.htm This is what I found in a quick search. The site I think you mean is not on line anymore. -
I think the best way to get a dog or a cat is to go to a shelter and let one pick you out.

Welcome to the forum. I spent a year in a place about 20 minutes from Osan. That was a bit ago. The day I got there just happened to have been July 4, 1976.

Actually I think it is something too many people will buy that have no idea what the heck it really is. Just another gimmick to promote a false sense of security.

We have always trained with both sides equally. And I do have to admit that most lower belts have trouble with that. The ability to switch sides really does not become comfortable for most until after they have trained for a while.

In some respects our black belt classes were like all other classes and in some respects not. There are weapons black belts are permitted to work with under belts are not (i.e. bladed weapons). And there are extra katas. And then black belts sparring other black belts bears little resemblance to lower belts sparring.

I too wear pro force gis with the elastic waist. Most of the other students wear the traditional drawstring pants though and my good gi is drawstring. Best thing to do is tie it as tight as you can then warm up. After moving around during your warm up retie the pants even tighter.

It was supposed to have come from a Judo or Ju jitsu choke that is done with the end of the gi sleeve.

I remember in what I read about shudokan about the inclusion of weapons training as part of the regular cirriculum. Is there a rotation with a certain weapon being taught at a certain rank or it there a rotation timewise like we do nunchaku this year and sai next year?
