  1. Oh yeah, I forgot the most important thing. Thanks guys for letting me vent.
  2. Interesting idea Ram but I have a wave master in my living room. Apparently the hole was big enough to put both fists through at the same time. And there is no longer a water bed upstairs. Jello bed what an idea. :spitlaugh:
  3. Sounds interesting Gorgoth. But I don't think you will catch me outiside training barefoot in the snow. I was just learning sanchin. It is very interesting. I can see how a long session of doing that kata could be more than a bit exhausting. I am a Shotokan student but, I like to learn where and what I can learn from.
  4. Sometimes when you are at your physical limit things look different than at other times. So what was the ultimate outcome? Have you seen the lady in question since then?
  5. I guess it all depends on how much you really want to be the absolute best.
  6. Shotochem as with any technique the more you practice it the better it will serve you. The only way to acquire more speed is to practice.
  7. I have to say it is the internet. The internet provides excellant sources for information and discussion. Just think of how much we all get out of this site. It matters not the topic the internet wins - hands down in my opinion.
  8. I would think weapons might be a better place for this. But, I do have a pair of light weight sais and I love them.
  9. Yes deep water jogging is excellant. And with water dumbbells you can add an upper body element too. Instead of just walking/runnig in the water varying the movements can also simulate stair steppers, cross country skying or other activites. There are also boots for the feet that add an addtional lower body strength element.
  10. And I thought a little indoor rain shower was bad. As hollow as it sounds the bad times do end sometime.
  11. Well at least I got a carpet cleaning out of it. And they are going to redo my ceiling. Hopefully after they reseal it the next leak will not be so far flung.
  12. I also use incense. I think it helps set the mood. Meditation balls - do you mean the bao ding balls? I find them useful but in a different sort of way - as a stress reducer. You know Jack I was thinking about this thread and one of your comments. I can just see you dropping down into full lotus at school. I can also imagine how quiet it got.
  13. I like your name too. Look around through the forum. There are a lot of questions in here and a lot of answers people have given. This is a good place to ask questions. Generally others will do their best to send you in the right direction. Sai
  14. Or as others would say "It is good training, just shut up and do it."
  15. Pottying in a pack. :spitlaugh: We all know how true it is though. Just never though of it that way.
  16.       How true, how true. And I am the most extreme example of that.
  17. Interesting. I don't know enough about akido to say much else. Makes me curios though.
  18. Just an observation. Ad I noticed you mentioned that not all of you classmates wore headgear. The same is true at my school of the adults. (All of the kids are reguired to wear helmets.) Of the adults I can honestly say that those who chose to wear helmets are also those with the highest levels of education. Does this bespeak anything about the wisdom of protectiong your head?
  19. As in retreating Jack.
  20. I kick off the leading leg at times too. And I have to pretty much agree with what Jack has said. I think it is also another too to use at another distance than a kick off the back leg. Also few at my school kick off their lead leg. It gives me a slight advantage to offset some of my many disadvantages.
  21. Yeah, it is pretty easy to get hooked on weapons. I do wonder though how many other middle aged females derive so much pleasure from looking at interesting weapons? I saw a really interesting video clip. It was a short clip of the Isshinryu founder Shamabaku doing one of the bo katas. It wasn't very good quality film but it was interesting.
  22. I occasionally drag out the old walker position it next to the wavemaster and use it for balance kicking different techniques as many times as I can without putting down my leg. I would like to do it without the walker but I just don't have the physical ability. I do think though that the work I have done is showing results and I am slowly depending less and less on the walker.
  23. I thought about that too Angus. And I see another potential problem. It is could you really subject yourself totally to this guys teaching without constantly trying to tell him what you know is a better way to do things?
  24. There are different ways to feel. There are emotions - feelings. There is also feeling - perceiving. Many blind people feel when they are getting close to a wall. There are other ways to feel too. But I got woke up too early to think straight. Maybe someone else can explain what I mean a little more clearly?
  25. That was said so eloquently Kickchick. Yes that is how I feel. I had a friend who was a getting ready for his 3rd degree black belt in tae kwan do. We worked out together a few times. (Boy, was I ever out classed I was like 6th kyu at the time.) But some of the katas I watche him do I recognized and started asking questions. I think that is when my curiosity about how other styles do kata's was born. I have spent a lot of time researching since then and it is fascinating.
