  2. Coco

    HI

    Shito ryu here
  3. Hahaha! its true!!!
  4. for yellow belt? i had to do vocabulary ,junino kata and front punch, reverse punch, side kick, front kick
  5. My dojo is the only one i know (shito ryu) that its first kata is a kata called Junino kata... weird - After that we got the Heians then i dont know why it depends on your body size what katas you learn next. Required karas for black belt are Bassai Dai and Seienchin.
  6. In my dojo, its the same, only after front side back we add a round kick to the front.
  7. Well, i get this almost everytime i fight - I attack with round kick - opponent hits it with the elbow between the joins - thats a foul, but since we are sparring the only thing i can do is hold in the pain... usually lasts 2 or 3 days and i get it like 1 out of 3 times i fight with someone.
  8. Sure it is quite a mix, but is it effective? thats what matters after all.

    Heian Yondan

i picked it up in like the first class too... i think its because on your first kata, your are not familiar with the whole thing but when you get to yodan you pretty much have an idea... on my dojo tho, we first do haian nidan and then yodan, i learned both in 1 day
  11. ouch dude... I dont think anyone is THAT stupid tho
  12. I think lots of begginer fights look like kickboxing. Once you get to a higher level, you might get some new techniques coming from oponents not used in kickboxing.
  13. The key to fighting two people at once is work them against each other. Don't stand stationary, but rather...MOVE! Try to keep the worst fighter between you and the best fighter until you can take taht guy out, then it's just you and one other. Another thing that has always worked good for me fighting multiple attacvkers is get in a corner. This has several advantages, such as limiting the direction they can come at you, and also allows you to lean in that corner so that you can use both hands and one leg constantly. Of course you can come out of the corner if you want to for an attack, then retreat back to it. actually sensei told me to move, but not to get in corners... beacause they lock me up and punch me till death
  14. the sue wasnt directly at me but it was against me
  15. i dont even know why i started,,, it just happened!
  16. i belive its called the 1337 R3D 3X 57Y13 , if you know what i mean
  17. Look dude, the defending yourself part is not up to the dojo. The karate point sparing is ONLY used for tournaments. I dont know in your dojo but in mine, we can hit the head with round kicks, and the stomach... I once got into a fight and just 2 hits that i used brought him down... i think point sparring is mostly for accuracy, how to use the techniques is up to you... Id reccomend muay thay if you REALLY wanna be a fighter.
  18. my dojo sucks...and listen to this...today i had to fight 2v1... a black belt and my stupid brother vs me... and guess waht... MY BROTHER was slow and he hit hard as hell and the black belt hit soft and was fast as hell so i couldnt move and i was getting killed... it finally stopped when the beast(my brother) punched me in the face and got disqualified...
  19. in usa, florida, to be an instructor you need to go to the capitol and pass a 897987 tests...
  20. lol in my dojo we can ONLY sparragainst brown/black belts...it dosnt really help as they take you down in 2 secs but meh
  21. Id use a yoko-geri to knock someone out if they were really slow... I can easly bock and really hurt you if you try a yokogeri on me... Try doing one and see how open to any attack your groin is --- OUCH, as for mae-geris/oi-geris i dont use for sparring really, but if someone is coming onto you i sometimes use one to back them off and usually leave them without air...
  22. Pushups/Weights/Exercise/Practice make you strong... Kyus are for experience not for strength

    Belt Display

my friend has the certificates on a wall next to a table and the belt underneath the certificate on the table
  24. What you did is 100% right, i got sued once for fighting.... This kid pushed me around because he was showing off to some girls, and i fell so everyone surrounded us in a circle, then he tried to punch me in the face, and withought wanting to, i accidentally, naturally blocked and knocked him out in 1 punch.... i got sued EVEN THOUGH I AM YELLOW BELT! becasue i defended myself... guess who won? me. The guy said i started it but i had like 20 witnesses.... Play it cool, and defend yourself anytime its nesesary(run away if 10 guys try to beat you up with knives)
