Kung fu and Tai chi
Breakdancer replied to italian_guy's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
who ever said tai chi has a strike or attack or wrong, if you do tai chi and the teacher makes you spar than well you should quit that school, Tai chi, even the offensive styles make you do forms over and over and over, and the movements are all circular, the reason that is is because to have a wide range of movement to redirect someones elses energy, AND TAI CHI IS KUNG FU AND TAI CHI IS WUSHU AND KUNG FU IS WUSHU AND KUNG FU IS APPLYING THE 8 ENERGIES IN OFFENSIVE FORM AND TAI CHI IS PRACTICING 8 ENERGIES AND ALL CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS IS WUSHU THEREFOR TAI CHI + KUNG FU= WUSHU WUSHU= KUNG FU TAICHI=KUNG and your stupid for saying wushu is a particular state sanctioned art, Wushu means martial arts, modern wushu is a particular state sanctioned art. Kung fu means hard work, gong fu means hard work and gung ho means work crazy..... WHAT NOW BOY?! -
Kung fu and Tai chi
Breakdancer replied to italian_guy's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
yup its worthless self defense art until you understand hte concept, and whe nyou do you'll be a bad mofo, but Taichi is kung fu, or rather tai chi is wushu, people seperate tai chi and kung fu because tai chi is mostly just practicing the 8 energies, and kung fu is more about applying them. In tai chi theres no offense, its all about redirecting energy -
i dont care you dont know anything about kung fu, fa jing is explosive power, of course its a certain way of moving, its a certain way to issue energy, in the article he described a move with fa jing, your such a dumbass, you just stated you dont kno anything about kung fu so why are you trying to tell me you kno about jing, its a kung fu principle i'm not even going to listen to you because i already know your wrong. my teacher pronounces it as Jeng thats how i would spell it, hes from taiwain,
-
ok so your chinese than huh? if your chinese than why dont you know anything about kung fu? Fa jing means explosive power, i say jeng because thats how i pronounce it, english spelling doesn't matter, like saying wutang and wutan and wudang, theres no dif. Anyways that movement or strike is jing! yes it described a a strike but that strike, how it was issued described jing, if your so chinese you should knwo something about authentic kung fu

i didn't rread all this crap, but youguys say street fights are really short, well from a martial arts perspective if it was a street fight against a couple ma's than yes it would be pretty short, but with two very oblivious people of martial arts they last a long mofo time, like maybe umm 5 minutes in some cases. I've been in them before and * it will be mostly punch kick kick fall to the floor, full nelson, back up rinse and repeat, whoever passes out first loses, street fights tend to last a while in some cases because the people dont know how to end it quickly

http://www.kickboxing.com/knowledge/fitness/ckc1.htm thats the link and heres a good quote "This refining process begins in the legs and hips and, by coordinating through the body, is sent it out to the limb being used. In the hand strike, for example, as the hip torques, the kinetic energy travels up the back and out the arm. If, however, at any point the body is stiff and a set of muscles is tight on the side of the body which the technique is being employed, kinetic energy will be hindered or rendered ineffective. This is the concept of relaxation when discharging kinetic energy in a technique. Relaxation does not mean sloppiness but rather a supple muscular state, which allows kinetic energy to flow efficiently. " he never uses the word, Jeng but he is obviously describing it, such as my teacher described it to me
-
jeng is energy body and mind acting as one, your whole body acting as one to do one motion, to do one punch youm uch use your whole body, its the concept to kill someone in one or two punches or one or two techniques, kickboxing they are only using body and mind but the energy isn't flowing as one its segmented, he isn't using jeng, the movement is segmented. Yip man did kung fu he used jeng, all of his movements were together as one, some of them though used just muscle mass like kickboxing does to issue power, when jeng is much more efficient some wing chun people use jeng some dont, those that do is kung fu those that dont isn't. theres a article somewhere i'll get it for you

Right now i'm takign a introductory month at a school called Chan kung, i quit my other kung fu cuz i found out they were scamming students, anyways i talked to the instructor about the karate and asked about its lineage, it said that it was created by Jackie Chan, and he wanted to create a way to involve all aspects of self defense, he said jackie chan has trained in traditional kung fu all his life and recently created this art about 20 years ago, anyways is it legit has anyone else heard of chan kung? it seems good, the belt system is white yellow orange red blue purple green brown white/black then black once you get black you can teach class, and black takes about 2 years to obtain. i'm reading this off a brochure right now... so is it legit or what? The instructor said he trained under jackie for 15 years and has won the world championships 5 times., the students seem pretty good too i sparred with them my first day and they were pretty good. what ya guys think?

well the thing is my school doesn;t really care for any strength training, or bag work they just do stances and forms and thats what we should be doing at home. They don't really recommend pushups or bag work, before i joined martial arts i bought a punching bag thinking i was going to do karate or something, now i'm in this kung fu and i using a punching bag would not help me with it, nor will strength training
-
well i beleive him, and this guys not american the lineage dates back to taiwain and than back to china, i know they aren't phonies, but when i first wanted martial arts i wanted strength and speed and to be able to hit something, but this kung fu is so settle its fast but its alot softer than lets say muay thai, and i dont think I will get strong or buff from this, although if i quit i might join a bad karate school, cuz thers hardly any karate schools here and i might make a bad choice to give up something that is good but yet i dont kno if its right for me

This is confusing, my school teaches 7 star praying mantis, but theres a problem they focus on all the movements coming from your center, theres no pushups and no situps, just stances and forms and technique, but other people i hear about say that htey get really muscular from doing kung fu. Except my kung fu emphasize movements that are explosive yet doesn't require tense strength, such as karate. My school says that all traditional kung fu has tai chi principles, while if a kung fu school doesn't follow those principles and rely on muscular strength more than anything else, is not a true kung fu school. what are your peoples thoughts.

i'm watching it and its really off, its going to give EVERYONE a bad impression about martial arts, that form is not traditional martial art, traditional okinawan karate is much more in depth than that *.
