  1. I believe orbit involves a velocity at a.. well, I forget the mathematical term. Anyways, a velocity perpendicular to the vector between yourself and an object of considerable mass. Regardless of that, I don't think that throwing yourself at the ground and missing would be the most efficient way of flying anyway. My personal recommendation would be to impart a force to your body opposite to that of the force of gravitational attraction between yourself and the Earth.
  2. I don't think I saw it, but I'll probrably try it if you can point me to it. I don't believe that MMA fighters have tried those things, but that's MMA, which is a completely different animal to actual fighting.
  3. Most freedom fighters want to have their cake and eat it too. Education is the key to "freedom" and improving society. Knowledge is power. Hero: "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose" Terrorist: "One that engages in acts of force or violence with the intention of intimidating societies or governments" One who is violent or seeks to intimidate others cannot be a hero. Terrorists are the worst possible type of human beings. I suppose that's one perspective, but I still think that the causes they fight for would view them as heroes, just as the people on the other side would likely see the soldiers that fight the terrorists in a positive light. It's like the Isrealis versus the Palestinians. Or Iraq and Kuwait? Or China and Tibet? Who's the good guys and who's the bad guys? It all depends on which side you are on.
  4. Including the techniques you just mentioned. Seeing as how I've done it numerous times in practice, however, I'd say it works for me.
  5. Maybe those fighters aren't as flexible as I?
  6. According to one famous quote, flying is throwing yourself at the ground and missing.
  7. To the best of my knowledge, that's the one where the other person is laying on their back and you are straddling/"sitting" somewhere between their pelvis and their abdomen. From the "disadvantaged" position on the ground, I have no difficulty kicking the mounter with full force in the back of the head, or alternatively bringing my foot further and planting my foot on their face to push them off.
  8. I never said that they couldn't use it in fight, but there you're making it unfair: the grappler is allowed to grapple AND strike, while the striker is allowed purely striking? Obviously grappling and striking would be better than just striking, but if we're going to assume that the grappler knows at least some striking, then it's only fair to assume that the striker knows some grappling as well.
  9. Well, I felt it was blatantly obvious, but yes. I know many things without ever having done them, "Mr Named after a non-sentient creature." For instance, I know how one could go about manually causing a thermonuclear reaction without the aid of any electronics. I also know that doing so would likely result in being vapourized. Further, I know that although you may have been taught that anti-matter cannot be contained in any way, that doesn't make it true. Electricians are taught things about electronics that are simply not true, because it's easier for them to understand and serves their purposes. Physics courses also teach an inaccurate explanation of electronics. Only if you were to take electrical engineering would you likely learn the whole, actual story about the movement of electrons, and the mythical entities known as "holes." This is much like how reproduction is explained to children. Obviously they wouldn't fully understand cell division and genotype and all that jazz, so instead they get a different explanation which, though completely false, is enough for them to understand as far as they need to. Similarly, it is quite possible that the things you have been taught about anti-matter are not correct, but taught as such because it makes it easier to understand. I have no other way of explaining how you have come to believe so strongly in something that is, simply false.
  10. Maybe YOU can't. The only position I find that I'm more or less helpless is is when I'm laying face down with the other person kneeling on my back. Other than that, if they are out of reach of your hands, use your feet. That is assuming that you have full coordination with your legs. I disagree with that. From laying on the ground, they would be unable to approach your face with their hands without entering the area where they would be bitten. I've broken people's fingers by biting when they went for my head. It's not wise to do so unless you can reach around and approach from behind, which you can't do obviously if their head is on the ground. Back up my claims? You can only back up your claims with MMA matches, which aren't applicable anyway because the circumstances are different. That's not the case. Using those would generally involve striking, and that wouldn't make it grappling vs. striking, it would instead be grappling and striking versus striking. Obviously an assault rifle with a grenade launcher attached is more useful than just an assault rifle, but in a comparison of assault rifle vs. grenade launcher you can't really claim that they could use the assault rifle (grappling in this instance) and THEN the grenade launcher (striking) when it becomes convenient.
  11. Maybe someone with a slight amount of knowledge would believe that, but someone with a thorough understanding would realize that it's true. It was big news. Several years ago. "News" from several years ago generally ain't that popular a topic anymore. Give the man a prize! He's deciphered the English language!
  12. Exactly, that the whole point of this discussion that warp spider dosent understand. Please describe the technique you would use to bash someones head into the ground if you were mounted or under the knee on belly position(The two common positions one would want to achive in a real fight) 1) Put hand on opponent's head. 2) Move hand to ground.
  13. The only difference being several years between when they start to grow? Well, at 15 he's probrably in high school. When I was in high school it was not that unusual for guys to be dating girls from college or university. And where in the world is this? It don't happen in California buddy. Cause we superficial like that. Considering some of the things I've said on this forum, I'd rather not make my address accessible to everyone on the internet. Having said that, I guess I can't really speak for what people are like in California. (Though my mom was from California, and she dated younger men until she got married, but that of course could be the exception)
  14. I imagine there are some vigilates which you could definately call a "super hero." This is a touchy subject, but in some circles, a freedom fighter would be considered a super hero. Unfortunately, Western society gives these people the title of "terrorist," and makes them out to be bad people. Regardless of how you feel on that issue, I'd say those people are super-heroes to the followers of the cause they are fighting.
  15. I don't need to point to others to say that something is true. If I was to go to all the trouble of tracking down some of the people who have done it you'd just call on them to prove it. After all, if you don't believe me, why would you believe someone else, probrably someone even less qualified to speak on the matter. If you refuse to believe, that's your choice. I believe there was a gentleman who once believed that DOS had no market value.
  16. It's not if both parties are trying to hit each other it's a disadvantage because it's alot easier to get someone down from a clinch unlees of course the "striker" has better takedowns/defenses than the grappler...at that point he must have grappling experience. And since when is being down a disadvantage for a striker? You don't have to be on top to push a person's head into the pavement. In fact, it's probrably easier to do if the other person is not lying on their back.
  17. And since when is being in a clinch a disadvantage to a striker? That's idea headbutting range, which, in case you've never been so unfortunate to experience a proper headbutt, it is quite uncomfortable. Since when does striking = standup? I do have plenty of experience, though I'm not impossible to take down. Generally speaking, however, when taken down I'll either pummel the person on the ground (ever had your head bounced off the pavement with an open hand strike? Instant KO in my experience.) or stand back up and kick/stomp on them. There's always weapons around in the "real world." Tons of them. I took a look around where I am sitting right now to verify this. If on my back from where I am right now I could use: A bottle of spray nine, (spray in eyes) a small statue, a ceramic plant pot, a large ornamental bowl, a small cactus, and some metal book ends. I could probrably also reach the keyboard with a bit of a struggle. There are always things that can be used as weapons around. When was the last time you were confronted smack dab in the middle of a wheat field?
  18. The only difference being several years between when they start to grow? Well, at 15 he's probrably in high school. When I was in high school it was not that unusual for guys to be dating girls from college or university.
  19. This does explain why you can't do it to every photon. I am aware of how it works. I don't have examples because it's old news and I'm not an archive of experiments that were done years ago. Like I care what the names of the people who did it were, just so I can relate it to people like you who choose to believe it's impossible? Further, I've never personally teleported anything. I think EPR pair teleportation is stupid and pointless. It's neat, yes, but it's applications for conquering other civilizations are minimal.
  20. He's not saying they wouldn't defend themselves, he's saying a fight would go differently under those conditions. A) Says who? and B) Since when does closing on a person alter a strikers ability to strike you? Since when do they need to keep distance? There's no range that's too close for a good striker. Actually they could just try not sucking, they they wouldn't have to worry about being taken down either.
  21. YEAH. You are just a kid to her. You barely grew pubic hairs. NO chance in HELL. Some women like younger men. Sometimes, quite a bit younger. Plus, the suggestion that at 15 he's just "barely grown pubic hairs" does throw your credibility into question. It would probrably be more accurate to say he's just barely grown chest hairs.
  22. Actually, THIS is the argument that doesn't "hold any weight." Strikers do not always get taken down. That's a totally absurd notion. By the same logic I could say "well, strikers don't have to worry about grapplers, since the grappler is the one that gets beat senseless." It's completely absurd. You can't categorically say that a striker WILL get taken down, or that a grappler WILL be beaten to a pulp. Either could happen, and both do happen. Just because MMA competitions favour grappling, doesn't make it better. I'm not surprised that people like Royce Gracie can take down their opponents consistently. It's not because grappling is better, however, it's because Royce Gracie is a very good fighter. Frankly, the strikers I've seen in the UFC and similar competitions are a joke. Using MMA as a way of measuring real-life combat is silly. You might as well use point sparring to compare arts.
  23. Hey, there's nothing wrong with caveman style. People may laugh at your giant club but when you chase them until they collapse from exhaustion, then hit them with a big rock, they'll realize the power of caveman style!
  24. A) Pray tell, WTF not? B) It has been done, more than once, so I'd question the authenticity of your statement.
  25. That's awfully one sided. What makes you think you will land on top? It is not hard to flip a double leg around so you land on top of the grappler. It is also not difficult to avoid a sweep from the clinch. Alternatively, the striker could place you on the ground with a strike. Have you heard of a move called the "spear?" It's a striking move which plants the other person on the ground. Being taken down onto a soft mat is nothing like taking a full force kick in the shin, back, ribs, etc. Getting slammed down on a mat is nothing like getting slammed down on ashphalt or concrete.
