  1. I have been in TKD for only two months now, and watching all the high-belts fight and train, the shorter are always faster. It was my impression that they had the advantage- they could get inside and kick before my long leg has even reached them. I am 6'2", and lean. So is taller better? Are there pros/cons for both short and tall? Which is the best?
  2. It doesnt matter how much you train. The old saying that will always ring true comes to mind-"there is always someone stronger, faster, and better than you out there, and you just might run into them" *of course, the more you train, the less-often you run into these people.
  3. Don't take TKD for self defense? Why not? I already know how to throw a punch pretty well, as the past has shown. But I have nothing, I mean NOTHING else in the area. The other things that I could choose in the area I cannot afford.
  4. Great points about lifting slow and fast. Many people just want to get big and strong, hence the slow and heavy method. Great for putting on muscle and strength, but for speed and stamina, no. I have many friends who just want muscle and brawn who can outlift me in weight any day, but put just a 100 lbs on the bench, and ill outlast any of them no effort. observations>
  5. I have been doing TaeKwonDoe for two months now, and love it by the way. I do have an ankle problem similar to the one originally listed. I got mine, though, from round house kicks on the bags. I guess its just a hyperextension. No swelling, just crazy intense pain whenever going back to the bag for round house kicks. Now, I bought an ankle brace today, and am wondering this: how often am I supposed to wear it, and how tight should it be? It is elastic, and Im sitting noticing that it is pretty tight. Should it just be snug? Or tight, assuming that it will wear out and stretch? THanks.
