  1. Kata?
  2. hmmm i would say judo, you do alot of mat work and stand up throws and things and randori which is free fighting without striking and its full force go against someone good and you'll be hooked on oxygen
  3. shoto whats the difference between your styles? Shotokan like every style is incomplete so in order to become a great fighter you would need to master more than one.
  4. You know how it is when you tell someone you do martial arts and they start to make fun of you, ya know like oh comon your not gonna karate me or nothing! Well if you take a striking art and if you and your friends start to mess around your not gonna punch him in the nose are you? Or throat strike him? That's one of the reasons i like grappling arts because you can throw them or trip em or pin em or armbar or you know any technique that won't serioulsy injure them unless you want it to.
  5. How do you think a champ like Mike Tyson, Ali, Lennox Lewis, Evander or any UFC guy would do against a martial arts expert both in their prime. Like someone like Mas Oyama, Bruce Lee, Takamatsu, Chuck Norris or anyother martial artist. Would the sheer power and strength overwhelm a martial artist. I was wondering if you thought there huge muscles would matter either too. Thanks
  6. Is shi to ryu karate an effective fighting art? Does it teach realistic fighting ways and how does it compare to other martial arts?
  7. Why not go do something you are good at? Practice Practice.
  8. well he didn't call it iron shirt but they say if it was translated it would be that. He would just do breathing excercises to strengthen them. ( his internal organs, so if he got hit it would hurt him less ) I got a book on his wrestling form and practice the things he did. Look up Matt Furey or go to https://www.mattfurey.com
  9. Ya my short term is to get atleast a yodan in judo, in the next few years. My long term would be to run a martial arts school. I'd also like to be a cartoonist, I already have a comic I use in my high school paper. Or an actor or comedian, I do alot of school plays and theatre work all over, and do comedy shows at talent shows. And I want to try to be a great martial artist if not the best.
  10. well fireka, see ya in the big times them. True Dreamers To The Top. But hey you can't dream all your life, gotta use some action to. Dreaming of something ain't gonna make it happen. Let there be light.
  11. I know that verybody has done something that they thought they wanted to do for their whole life probably but stopped. I just wanted to say that if you find something that is really cool and fun for you then stick with it no matter the difficulty in getting it. I know plenty of adults who talk about their child hood dreams, and for myself I don't wanna grow old and dream of what I could have done or wanted to do but I am going to do the things that I want to do at any cost. A dream is a light of hope you create, to fulfill is to fulfill yourself. Now go back to your true passion.
  12. actually it might depend on your body type if you are going for a certain time. If you are stocky and strong then maybe judo but if you are strong and big, but not really scrappy then probably karate.
  13. This is about San Soo, not san shou. Tell me what you know about San Soo and how it compares to other arts, and if you think it is effective for fighting. Just sorta compare it to your style. Here's alittle about it, there are five families in San Soo, TSOI (Punching & Kicking) Li ( Leverage ) Hoi ( Pressure Points ) Fut ( Psychology ) Hung ( power and strength ) There are no set patterns, it is suppose to be one of the most effective fighting arts. Alot of groin strikes, in high ranks some teach Dim Mak the art of so called pressure point killing. Where you can hit someone in a place and make them sick or die in days hours minutes. Thanks
  14. The knife is a tool, it helps us cut things easier and in a way murder easier. The spoon helps us gather more liquids to drink or eat or whatever. They are all tools that help us. The gun is a tool that helps us kill fast and effortlessly. It itself doesn't kill people, but we kill people using it just like we cut with the knife, the knife doesn't cut unless we make it cut.
  15. Do you think that someone is born with the ability of fighting, and doing it very well with no training? Well everyone says I can fight and fight really good, and they say since I started doing martial arts I have become 100 times better. Here are some things they say I have which I think might make a good fighter, scrappy, tough not just in strength but in overall toughness, a will to win, never giving up until you can't fight. You see when I get into fights even with the tough guy I see it as me or him me or him. And well i'd prefer it was him. I was born with fast movements and good reflexes and unluckily for me and my opponent a low boiling point. But i'm working on it, use to be if someone said something about me well then SPLAT! They were on the ground. Well anyway do you think people are born fighters?
  16. Does this mean everything goes? Do you wear gloves or anything or just go fight each other?
  17. did big mac have skill or just strength? It is said that Mas broke river stones with his hands everyday.
  18. master 1 then master others? But not mix while you are learning one
  19. Some people say those are ineffective because it teaches you to fight like animals, and they fight like animals and we fight like humans but is it good if we try to fight like an animal? Not putting it down just asking how is it effective. For instance what if a tiger started boxing a gorilla out?
  20. He did fight alot of people, 270 i think. Like they said in here, if you blocked you were broken if you didn't block you broke.
  21. I dunno tree it seems he didn't have the ruggedness to be a what ever you wanna call it
  22. What style of Kung Fu do you think is the most effective fighting wise. Now please just your opinions, no saying one sucks or is better just say which one you like and some reasons why. PLEASE NO NEGATIVE TALK Thank you
  23. Was he one of the greatest martial artist ever? Maybe but what do you think of him and his training methods.
  24. Mas Oyama was great like you guys said. A man who also changed fighting maybe not martial arts but fighting was Martin " Farmer " Burns. The catch as catch can wrestler. At 175 lbs. traveling with the circus took on just about anybody, he also did a 6 foot hangmans drop while held in the air for 3 minutes whistling. He had a 20 inch neck
