Getting Choked Out
sansoouser replied to sunchaser's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
well, if you are fighting hard you can be choked out in about 2-5 seconds if you were relaxed maybe about 10 or so. For most people it's like going into a train tunnel, the sides of your vision start to come in when you are being choked and you don't want it to go black or your out. So when I start getting choked off come the gloves and bam I just use everything I got and get them off of me into an armbar or choke them out. -
Now i see Kung fu guys doing stances that look like they have no effect in a fight can someone tell me why you do these stances? Like the Horse stance or bow, cross legged [/img]

ya i see tree branch, boxers aren't trained to fight to win, the hard way. They listen for a bell or a reff. But in a fight you listen for the police with guns or you watch your enemy hit the ground. So but Tree are you saying that against a bigger and stronger opponent Takamatsu would just run around them doing rolls and stuff until they got tired and when they let their gaurd down pounce like a tiger and kill? What ma did he take?

the thing here in my OPINION is that striking arts rely on muscle where as judo and aikio rely on balance and timing not strength. And like kirves said you can close th gap quickly to grappling range. Dodge just one punch and leap forward and bubby on the ground if they're any good. Now shotokan i didn't tell you to study another art I said you shouldn't be so one sided, saying shotokan is the best ( and yes you imply it ) is wrong but it is not the worst like every art. It's the fighter.

Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
sansoouser replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It comes down to the fighter period. Uh no not the art the fighter. No shhh i'm talking it's the art. Ok are you done? Now i'll get on with my sentence.... Ok, let us forget every name of every style. Now it is the fighter vs fighter not art vs art because there is no art just 2 guys fighting. If one wins it wasn't his style because there are no styles it was him, same for the other. See what i'm saying? Styles are just names take those away and its the fighters own personnel style because no one does a style perfect, yes not even your 10 whatever belt sensei, he develops what works best for him. As should the style should allow you too. There are no arts, just names because when you fight you are not doing karate or BJJ you are fighting it may look like it but you are fighting like the barbarians of yesterday, fighting is fighting regardless of whatever you say you are using. -
submission it would depend on the fighter a boxer or karate guy will stand up and fight but a wrestler guy will probably take you to the ground, a judo guy would proabably just throw or trip you to the ground and maybe go to ground fighting, but if you've ever been thrown on pavement even grass you would not feel like fighting. People break collar bones and arms because they don't know how to land. And all the experts say that if you don't guide them down they could be killed. If you just flipped someone and let go, well if they don't know how to fall out goes their elbow and crack really goes there elbow and arm.

NO ONE REGISTERES YOU AS A DEADLY WEAPON! THE MINUTE YOU TRAIN, BY LAW YOU BECOME ONE. NO PAPER WORK BUT IF THEY FIND OUT YOU TRAIN YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE PUNISHMENT. LIKE AN INCIDENT WHEN A BOXER BEAT A GUY TO DEATH IN A BAR FIGHT, HE WAS SENT TO PRISON FOR LIFE BECAUSE HIS HANDS WERE LETHAL WEAPONS BECAUSE OF HIS TRAINING! NO ONE HAS TO REGISTER YOU!!!!!!!!!!
-
no no you don't have to register them, if you train in fighting they become registered you don't have to do anything it's just the law.

I'm talking about an all out brawl no rules. It would depend on the boxer and the ma, lets take for example mike tyson against mas oyama, now this guy use to break river stones with his hands and fight bulls... and win. So he was extremely strong and talented. So it Mike though. But like you mentioned kicks would be the down fall of a boxer, a kick to the knee could bend him over for a knee to his face or an upward throat strike. But lets take an MA not so strong like Jigoro Kano, the creator of judo. Now he said he could defeat much larger opponents with ease, he also knew alot of deadly strikes. So i dunno we will never know except for Gene Lebell he beat a boxer in a judo vs boxing match, by choking him out showing that in judo you don't have to maim a person to win. Look it up

I don't think it's fair that if you fight in a dojo or are a boxer or marine or in some kind of fighting art and you kill someone one or injure them in a self defense situation you get in way more trouble because your hands are registered as a lethal weapon. My grandpa was in the marines and is registered in his hands as lethal weapons.

your not showing off, your commenting on a hobby of yours and then they think they can take you or whatever and start to mouth off and do karate actions whatever..

what if lennox didn't chase him and made him come to him? Could he evade or grab an arm and break it?
