i dont kno which one u know because . supposevely there are two louie's in the bronx . the one i know is puerto rican . hispanic . and has trained with morio higaonna been training with him in california and through seminars all over . tell me if thats the one u know ??? the other louie is another one i havent meet but have heard about ..

The first katas Ive learned was Taikyoku shodan and ni . Teno kata ( i think thats the speling ) this is for shito ryu practitioners white belt level

Are there any Martial Artist Who Practice Okinawan Goju Ryu . Ive been training for one year with Sensei Louie Morales a student of Morio Higaonna . And All the knowledge ive gotten so far was great . I've learned Geki Si Di Ichi And Ni , Sanchin ( still working on it ) . Saifa . and the bunkai for Geki Si Di Ichi . Any body willing t share there knowlege . I do not train in a dojo but at my school where he teaches . I would like to know wuts ahead of this . and If anybody can help . i would like authentic Okinawan Goju Ryu Katas on video to download . it would be greatly appreacited . Please share comments about your study of Okinawan Goju Ryu .

cross is right modern karate concentrates more on the competition area of karate . which cant be used for street self defense unless u wanna jump around like a bunny and want to play tag with em . by then u will be dead

i think making ur own kata would take many years to accomplish . not only just throwing in blocks and strikes . but using the mentality the chinese used to create this katas and japanesse . are u really willing to dedicate as much time as they did . and to me kata is not meant only to look good . kata has to have rhythm , kime , and aplications its not something that would take 3 days to do unless the kata will be just garbage .

i study both tradition : okinawan goju ryu and something like a moden version of Shito Ryu . i belive that the traditional okinawan Goju Ryu would be more effective . The Techqniques are much more powerful and while performing kata there has been no change which shows the traditional and original bunkais for the katas which mostly rely on strong self defense techniques in a real life situation . modern karate tend only to be quick but not powerful blows like old traditional styles.

i really appreacite the comments and various thoughts giving by delta1 , aefibird , returning wave , and ramymensa . well as much as i would like to train with my Okinawan Goju Ryu Intructor . and badly how i wanna learn from him . i cant at the moment . i can only take his classes in school . until i can graduate and he can probably teach me at his home . he has mentioned that to me before . well im planning on quitting the shito ryu instructor . he doesnt seem like a top qualified intructor in my eyes. i kno i will gain more experience from Sensei Morales . The thing is that the dojo i normally train in is only 1 block away from my house and he lives around my area im worried that one day he would see me and ask me why i just left . Normally i wouldnt care but he seems like he put some cofindence in me to become one of his black belts. but i dont want to learn from a teacher who rushes through kata . and bunkai . i think karate is kata and kata is karate . thats jut the way i think... Very intresting topic . karatekas lack kihon or basics . because after a while it can get boring . just like i did . i myselve was lacking kihon and my goju ryu sensei showed me why it is good to practice it contantly and not show off with fancy kicks and spinning 360's or whatever some dojos want to show kids now a days . which can be fun for the kids because they think its all fun and games at this point and age . but im here to agree with gheinisch . :)so thanks for an intresting reading . osu

usankf.com . doesnt have a good overall shito ryu kata demostration . from what ive seen it only has one . very well done . but as a shito ryu practioner i would like more videos . not to be greddy but i would like to keep it for educational uses . OSU

usally the beginners division in kata you usally see people who are white , yellow and orange. which for a shito ryu practitioner would be taikyoko shodan or ni . pinan nidan , sandan etc. in beginners kumite people seem to be scared to attack depeneding on the skill level of the practitioner and how the intructor teaches his her kumite techniques. but remember never under estimate ur opponent. oSu

. i have an intructor that i Train Shito Ryu . he likes to train kata alot . but i see that alot of his students cannot get the form correct and the katas beuty des not show . ok he wants a white belt to learn three katas .taikyoko shodan . taikyoko ni and . one other . i think thats too much for them .. i am currently a purple belt ranking in this school . which really im not really proud of because he rushed me through it and think he rushed other students as well . well i think the way we learn kata is very sloppy . for my ranking i should already know about 15 katas . most importantly i've lerned katas like juroku and seiinchi . saifa .. which i think takes time to master .i kno this because im also training under . Sensei Louie Morales who trained under Morio Higaoanna . and ive been training with him for almost 1 year and i only know 2 katas (geki si di ich and ni in the proces sof learning sanchin and saifa) and i didnt rush through them like my intructor in Shito Ryu . i took 1 year to learn the correct forms of geki si di ich and ni . and i still see a bit of mistakes which needs correcting . i kno i should talk to the Shito Ryu intructor about it . but i dont want to disrespect his methods . actually i would love to train with my Goju Ryu iontructor but currently he does not have a school only in the high school where he teaches . I have a bad feeling i am going to have ato quit . because intructors now a days seem to slack off and have no discipline under there students . So far i only had one real and trustworthy intructor and that Sensei Louie Morales . Write Comments -- your opinion about learning kata too too fast . and how it can harm a persons ability to learn the secret techniques under it . Thanks for ur time

KATA IS THE ESSENSE OF KARATE . KATAS SHOULD BE PRACTICED AT ALL TRAININGS . AS MANY AS U KNOW . AND OBSERVED BY THE INTRUCTOR

my intructor makes us spar once out of every month . sometimes i get mad . or i am unwilling to ttrain anymore because of that matter . i get bored . sorry to say . but i think i might find another school

in karate we usually use our hands thats where the phrase came "the way of the empty hand"

to tell u the thurth i dont think i have ever seen any shito ryu kata online unless u are going to buy them .. but if u have any luck finding any good ones .like juroku . seiinchin . saifa . or any other katas kenwa mabuni made for this beutiful style of shito ryu

my intructor wants to teach me katas with the bo . and techniques i can use . but he wants a to join a group of students . who is willing to learn . and it seems like im the only one that wants to which is holdin me bacc from l;earning . but yeah i saw some in tournament competition and they where fun to look at i cant wait to learn
