My favourite move has to be a front leg mawashi-geri, it's versy fast and catches opponents of guard. -

this isn't really to do with general martial arts so i moved it here I don't really have a fave film but it would be; The Shawshanck Redemption, The Matrix Rocky IV or Romeo Must Die -

This is true Tobias, all the Heians were taken from Kanku-dai and expanded, this is why in some forms of karate Kanku-Dai is the 1st kata to be taught!

About Sparring
KUGB_Chris1985 replied to Valn's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Don't go into a fight with a plan of what your going to hit your opponent with 'cause you'll be too busy thinking of how to do the combination and forget about other techniques and whats been thrown at your head! always keep an open mind in training and use what ever move will hit your opponent and try and sus out you opponent during the fight ie. what is his/her stance, how does he/she move, where are his/her arms, etc. hope this helps -
I agree with karateronin. Sensei Brennan can throw a deadly mawasi-gei jodan (round-house kick to the head.) I know from experiance, they hurt quite a bit to.

The importance of sparring

I think Ts757's remark about a cricketer meant a knee to the groin won't work 'cause cricketers wear a box (cup) when playing, hence making a knee to the groin useless!!! -
I find the mia-geri (front kick) very usefull in kumite when your opponent is charging in at you and the mawashi-geri (round-house kick) good for long distance fighters. I like fainting with a mia-geri and using my flexability to turn it into a mawashi-geri. always catches your opponent off guard!!! Oss
