  1. martial girl seemed to describe the general consensus that i've been hearing. if the entire world wants to be us, do you really think they would all be laughing at us? not to be offensive, i just kind of find it ironic. i will say that the first bush screwed up miserably, and clinton just kind of neglected the situation, however, calling him a coward or a traitor is a little uncalled for. granted, i lost a great deal of respect for him in the end of his term (not even so much for the monica scandal, more for his pardoning people seemingly at random in his final year and blindly making agreements ), but to call him a traitor? because he didn't declare war and hide behind patriotic reasons? to say "i'm declaring war on you to remove you from office because i don't like your cruel tyranny and niether does the rest of your country", that would be one thing. although i still wouldn't agree with a war, i would be able to understand it; after all, this struggle has been going on for how long now? i can see where somebody would call for it. however, that's not what happened. "i'm declaring war on you because i think you might have weapons of mass destruction, i'm not really sure. granted, we know that korea happens to have them, but we don't really care, because they're sorta far away. we're gonna give you a week to disarm all of your weapons. and no where in writing will we offer you any protection while we are doing this, so all the other countries in the world are free to attack you". again, not to offend, that's just how i percieved it. i would have been against the war either way, but i would at least have more respect for bush as a leader had he chosen the former declaration. As for the french, bare in mind we wouldn't even have been a country today if not for them. if not for their help during the american revolution (or revolutionary war or war of independance or whatever you like to call it ), the chances of us still winning is very slim, if at all even there. to just freeze them out of the UN is like when my little sister screams at me and says " I'M NEVER TALKING TO YOU AGAIN!" as she slams the door when i say or do something that upsets her. i believe it's very childish (for her too, as she is turning 13 soon... ). especially when france is waiting for iraq to pay back a massive debt to them. to declare war would have been to through away millions of dollars. i think had the situation been different, we would have had the french support. remember, not all of the countries in the world are as well off as us, like you said, kchenault, they want our money. is it fair to say "we don't like you because you want money?" i don't know, but i'm leaning towards no, myself. just my opinions, y'all, i honestly don't mean to offend anyone, and i'm truly sorry if i did, remember, i'm still happy in america and am proud to be an american, even if i don't approve of president bush. even though he isn't our best president, he's far from our worst. i just don't agree with a lot of the decisions he's been making.
  2. i don't mean to say anything anti-american; i'm proud to be one. my point is that i personally disapprove of our particular stand on this issue. i think it's just an excuse to flex our military muscle. i also dissapprove of how we're treating the french by freezing them out of the UN. i think that's very childish, though i suppose i don't have all sides of the story. don't get me wrong, i don't mean to offend anyone, and i don't dissagree with all of president bush's decisions. but.... well, yeah, there's no point in repeating myself
  3. "And nothing is going to change. I am proud to be a bloody conservative!" i respect your opinion, i suppose. but don't you think it's a little fishy that america went into the middle east looking for "weapons of mass destruction", only to find none and switch our aim to liberating iraq, who never asked to be liberated?
  4. yeah, i have no experience with them, except for in a video game, where they seemed to work ok. i don't know, they seem like they would work. i'm not bashing them in any way, it's just the form he was doing with them was long and dull and... well... yeah. they didn't seem like the most exciting thing ever, but that dosen't mean they're not effective.
  5. we use 'em in hwarang do too. personally i think they look a little dull, but that's just me.
  6. i'm sorry, i got a little angry. i come from a very liberal family and this whole situation kind of annoys me, especially with all of the false patriotism it has formed. sorry y'all, hope i didn't offend any one
  7. bloody conservatives... this is what happens when america views its self as the bully of the world!
  8. alright, first up artofninja (can i call ya artsie? ), lets not over estimate society. i believe that's 1,600 pounds of force per square inch, not 2,000 as for "i dont see how nunchucks are that dangerous. i mean how are you gonna hold up a bank or something with nunchucks! and you need to be trained properly before they can do any really harm so....." the grocery store by where i live was held up by 3 guys with nunchaku, and a few years before we had a video store held up by 2 guys with bo staffs
  9. tigerspirit and i seem to share the same opinion on this matter
  10. i started when i was 7, and then i got my black belt when i was 12. my school shut down when i was about 13 or 14, and i started back up again at 16.
  11. i'm with ninjanurse, that was quite vulgar indeed
  12. did y'all understand that? i just read it and i myself was having touble comprehending what i said
  13. i'm with budderfly; you shouldn't have to have a spiffy uniform for your moves to be crisp and snap. the best martial artist i've ever personally seen had a single uniform, standard, and nothing else. no weapons, no bags, no nothing. he usually trained shirtless, by the way. he moves were still crisp and such. none of that fancy, heavy weight iron man stuff for me.
  14. ach; you have a good point.but that's true of anything, really. one could ask "what's the best way to score points in basketball?" and the best response would be "to shoot baskets". but you couldn't do that without sufficient training.
  15. "Oh now come on! if someone in here dusint like Bruce Lee, then i will be forced to tie you to a chair and reppetidly hit you with bamboo sticks" oh my, as a martial artist, i would really hope you'd have more honor, dignity, and restraint than this...
  16. if you mean the naroo shirts with the frog buttons, i wear those all the time. they're comfortable and convenient. they're formal and casual. i don't understand why i should be arrested for wearing them, i see virtually nothing wrong with them.
  17. although i prefer cord, i think it's important to start with chain. the additional weight builds strength and flexibility in the rest, and the extra control needed makes the cord that much easier. on top of that, you appreciate the silence of the cord far more once you've worked with the irritating grinding noise of the chain
  18. well, you have to realize that laws differ from country to country, state to state, city to city. i can tell you that right now in verona, WI, you can carry whatever you want if it's in a special carrying case. police are usually pretty understanding, though.
  19. yeah, i take it, and you guys hit the nail on the head mr/ms. hamster, fear not about self defense, as we do a lot of that too. not quite as much as i'd like, but enough to stay sharp
  20. i do. i dunno if i'm the one they were reffering to or not; if not, it's nice to know another practicioner yes, it's very effective, with over 4,000 movements and 108 weapons. it incorporates punches, kicks, strikes, throws, joint locks, etc. all sorts of fun stuff to insure you have a life time of fun
  21. about two years ago, my house was struck by lightning and my room blew up (my room was the only one that recieved massive damage ). big fire and everything. everything in my room that survived the explosion, then the fire, then the firemen blasting at it with a bunch of hoses (which included my belts) needed to be washed to get the smoke out. my white belt is now black (actually, more of a dark gray...), and everyone of my belts has been washed. i don't know where i was going with this, but it seemed to apply at the time... i just completely lost my point, never mind lol
  22. normally i'd rant now about the wrong doings of society, but it's late, and to be honest i'm feeling a little down right now ( ), and i really don't have it in me. instead i'll just quite simply say: í don't get it.
  23. Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee
  24. "i think , it's gay..." I don't see how any of this is in anyway homosexual... and to the crack that implied homosexuals were less masculine, although i'm not gay myself, i have many a gay friend who would resent this. point being, to use someones sexuality as an insult. it may just be 'cuz i'm a liberal, but it dosen't seem ethical or moral to me.
