Interesting thread, Joe. Yeah, I mean, these sorts of advertisements have existed offline for a very long time, in newspapers and magazines. Disclaimers and disclosures are the key. They're integrating legitimate news coverage, with marketing material placed in a news format. There is one big problem with this. If you go to http://news12today.com/, you see the same thing. Notice her name is Janice. Is it Janice or is it Julie? Did one of these sites rip-off the other and change the name? Is this a template site that is being distributed by the manufacturer to affiliates and then they are creating multiple websites using it? It could be a harmless accident, but it is strange. Being a web developer and someone who is concerned with ethical online marketing, I see things from that perspective. The other part that is questionable is the implication that News 9 Today is an actual, news channel. Obviously, the name was created to imply that. This is, perhaps, somewhat deceptive. Other than those issues, I don't really mind the ad and I am all for creativity in advertising. Patrick

Great post, Brian. And, to be fair (you sort of eluded to this), you can do the same thing to adults. It doesn't take much to find a video of an adult practicing martial arts in what you would consider "bad" and then one that you would consider "great." Patrick

Instructors: Worry you're faking people out?
Patrick replied to Dark Planet's topic in Instructors and School Owners
This is a great thread. Good replies algernon, Alex and JusticeZero. And thank you, Dark Planet. Patrick -
Have you been to a doctor yet, Geminias? That's a long time ago - you should really get it looked at, rather than dealing with the pain, which could lead to something worse down the road.

Was looking at this article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1159241/1/index.htm via Digg and thought I'd ask who collected baseball (or any sport) cards here? I used to collect them a lot and love them to death... still have an affinity for them, but yeah, it's several years since I bought a pack... just a sign of the times. I guess. But, I still have all of my cards! Hehe.

Hey Joe, Interesting topic, thanks for starting it. Yeah, I agree, that's cool. I find it neat to see marketing integrations like this. At the end of the day, it's not so much about who did it first as it's just a good idea. You can go even farther back than that to Michael Jackson reworking "Billie Jean" for Pepsi (and I'm sure someone probably did it before that!) In some cases, I bet it's for radio promo, too, where the artist will record the DJ's name in the song, etc. They record a bunch of DJs at once. They typically just do radio "drops," which are the artist introductions you hear where it's like "this is Miley Cyrus and you're listening to..." but this sort of thing is a little more interesting. How Old Are The Martial Artists Here ?
Patrick replied to Tiger1962's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I like this poll because it illustrates that all ages are pretty evenly represented here. This makes for a nice mix.
