Hey Brian, Adding to what DarthPenguin said, I think there are really just two things you need to know: 1. If someone is not starting, they do not count. Anyone who is "Bench" or "IL" is not starting. Their numbers do not count. 2. If any player has "IL" next to them, you can add them to the IL by clicking the "Manage IL" button on your roster page. You can have up to 3 players on IL, and each person on IL frees up a roster spot. So if you add a player to IL, you can add a player to your roster without dropping anyone. But once they come off of IL, you will have to update your IL to either drop that player or drop another player to make room for the one you want to add back. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us. ----- Aside, just to give you a picture of how this might work in practice: If I were you, I would move Eloy Jimenez to IL. I would then place a waiver claim on Max Fried, who you dropped. That claim will go through on Wednesday, and you are first in the waiver order this week (listed on your roster page), so you're guaranteed to get him back. I would normally put in a claim, but I know you didn't realize about IL, so I don't want to swoop in. It would have been better to move him to IL as opposed to dropping him, as he is the Braves ace and has value in our league. If you decide not to pick him up, I probably will make a spot for him! After the waiver period ends and you get Fried back, move him to IL, and you will have one open roster spot. You could use this to stash someone else who is on IL (Tyler Glasnow, Raisel Iglesias seem like good choices - I just dropped Iglesias to make room for Tim Anderson on my IL). If you do that, add that person to your IL, and you'll still have an open roster spot. Use that to pick up any active player you want. Since Albies is off to a slow start, you could pick up Gleyber Torres. Since you only have one closer, you could go ahead and pick one up. David Bednar is off to a hot start for the Pirates. But there are plenty of closers available since our league is so small. Hope that helps!

Fun update! Looking forward to reading these. I was thinking that if someone reading this was wishing they had secured a team before the draft, that we could just give them the placeholder team. What do you think, DarthPenguin? While the team is currently last, the season is so young, there is plenty of time to make up the small gap! The team isn't in last from a lack of talent - a small league means everyone is sort of stacked - but the placeholder team has 7 of the top 50 players in FantasyPros final ranking (Jose Ramirez, Bobby Witt Jr., Mookie Betts, Austin Riley, Max Scherzer, Shane McClanahan, Dylan Cease), including 2 in the top 10. Plenty of value on the waiver wire in a league like this, too.

Hey all, Update: This was our 2023 April Fools' Day joke. ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence chatbot, has been hyped pretty hard since its release. Depending on your perspective, it's either amazing or deeply concerning. People are using it to do all sorts of things, good and bad. From grocery lists to screenplays, from meeting summaries to travel itineraries, you can ask ChatGPT questions, and it'll give you answers, in a way that is responsive to the parameters you provide. The answers are written to sound human. No matter your knowledge level, ChatGPT can make you look knowledgeable. Using the ChatGPT API, any website or app can hook into the power of this tool. On May 1, we'll be launching our own ChatGPT integration that will write forum posts for you, based on the prompts you provide. - No longer will you have to rely on your personal expertise to answer questions. Now you can answer questions you have absolutely no clue about. Just tell ChatGPT what you need an answer for. Don't worry about where that info came from. - If it's not worth your time to formulate your thoughts into complete, coherent statements, send what you have to ChatGPT, and let it do the rest. Reading the rules a bit, had an idea to throw out and see how people felt: Could we adjust the trade and waiver review period to be 2-3 days? Just seeing the more casual nature I think most of us will be taking here, it feels like 1 day is probably too quick for both of those things. Just thinking out loud.

I am flexible and none of the three methods turns me off. I do think head-to-head can be a bit more engaging for people, but I could be wrong about that. Happy to play roto. Cool. I don't know if the idea of opening it up will bring more people or not but maybe we can pick up a few people prior to Opening Day in a way that makes this work.

This might make it less fun, but just throwing it out here... how would you feel about opening this up a bit to others? We could limit it a bit to preserve some focus... e.g., maybe it could be open to members of our martial arts school? That might have the effect of introducing them to this community. Not sure, just thinking out loud.

I didn't pay too much attention to hockey until I met my wife back in 2016, as she and her family are big Rangers fans. So, I've adopted the Rangers as my NHL team, and we watch it regularly now. Have gone to a few games, as well, both at MSG and out here in Los Angeles.

Hey all, Today marks a big milestone for Noah (Wastelander), as it was 10 years ago today that he joined our staff at KarateForums.com. During the last 10 years, Noah's contributions to this community have been many. Certainly, if you've spent much time here, you've likely bumped into him, and he's probably asked you a thoughtful question, provided you with a reasoned perspective, or made you feel more welcome here. Beyond the public contributions, Noah has been dedicated and ever-present as a moderator, helping to maintain the friendly and respectful atmosphere that our community has known for. In addition to being on staff for 10 years, Noah has been a member for 12 and a half years, and during that time, we've had the good fortune to watch him grow as a martial artist. Noah began training in the martial arts in 2006. 2010 was the year he joined KarateForums.com and that same year, he started training in Shorin-Ryu, which put him on the path to becoming an instructor and eventually starting his own school in 2019. As an online content creator, Noah has always set an impeccable example of how to participate in a community like this earnestly, in a way that builds respect, without being self-promotional or falling into the temptation of linking to yourself. Personally, though much of my interaction with Noah involves KF and staff members, I've also been able to interact with him outside of the community through other platforms, and to further broaden my perspective on the type of person he is, and I'm proud to call him a friend. Sooner or later, I hope Noah will find himself in Los Angeles or I'll find myself in Phoenix, and we'll have a chance to get together in-person. In reaching 10 years as a staff member, Noah joins an exclusive club of 6 KarateForums.com members, all of which have received a physical award, which represents the appreciation that we have for the outstanding contributions that they have made to this community. Noah already has the award, and posted a photo on Instagram with it. I used to play every year, but stopped probably 15 years or so ago... that said, I'd be happy to give it another go if that would help field a league of KF members. I know that only makes two of us so far. I'm guessing we need at least 8-10 for it to be viable, right? Patrick
