Heh. Funny. Patrick -
Well, the Yankees, Rays, Diamondbacks and Phillies are all out. The Yankees series was a close one, with a dramatic finish. Congrats to the Tigers and their fans (and the Brewers, Cardinals and Rangers, as well). Thanks to the Yankees for an exciting season. From here, without giving it too much thought, I'm thinking Brewers and Rangers. But, anyone can win. Good luck all. Patrick

Hello and welcome, Amanda. Glad to have you. Patrick

Congrats on the win, Brian. I picked the Chiefs to win this week, as well! The Dolphins are off, so we'll be winless through 5 weeks. Patrick

Recent Downtime and Loss of Content

Thank you, Wolfman08, evergrey, Brian and still kicking. I appreciate the support and kind words. It means a lot to me. I'm so happy to hear that, still kicking! Wolfman08, it was a serious mistake. There is no doubt about that. That said, we did have a long term (9 years) relationship with the company and they have, generally, done a great job. One of the things I struggled with, in this case, was how much one big mistake should negate the good will of 9 years. In the end, I decided that I wanted to make a clean break. But, that doesn't mean I think they are not good at what they do or that I forget the support over the last 9 years. It was an unfortunate situation. So, though I did laugh at the visual of koalas mashing buttons, I don't want to insult them at all. Things happen, even if this was a pretty big thing. Thanks again, Patrick -

Recent Downtime and Loss of Content

Thank you, Heidi. I appreciate that. Patrick -
Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. It's been a crazy and frustrating 55 hours. 55 hours, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that long. But, as I was working to return this website back to normal, it seemed like an eternity. As you may know, during this time, KarateForums.com went through a series of issues, including the site being inaccessible due to a "suspended" message and then being back, but with lost content and read only access - meaning that you couldn't post or edit anything. I apologize for these issues. I've been running KarateForums.com for nearly 10 and a half years and when something like this happens, no one is more frustrated than I am. Downtime happens, but what really bothers me is when content is lost. When people contribute something to this community and that contribution is lost due to technical issues, that eats me up. And that is what happened. We lost approximately 5 days of contributions which, I can't say this enough, bothers me. I have a regular backup system in place that helps to limit any loss of content due to a catastrophic event like this one - and it worked. If not for our own backup system, we would have lost 10 days worth of contributions, which would have been even worse. Due to an error by the company that previously hosted this website, our live databases were terminated while I was on the road, visiting my brother at college. Not only that, but they had no backup more recent than 10 days ago. This is inexcusable. I spent yesterday basically trying to find out whether or not that was true, holding out hope that a more recent copy existed, and failing to receive any response for many hours, which added insult to injury. We were able to get the 10 day old website back online, but knowing that I had a more recent copy of the database backed up, I made it read only so that no further contributions would be lost when I overwrote the 10 day old copy with the 5 day old copy. Not only that, but I decided, to be fully confident moving forward, I wanted to execute an emergency server move before accepting further contributions and opening back up. That is what I have spent today working on. If your posted something that has now been lost, and you remember what it was, I encourage you to post it again and I would greatly appreciate it. I apologize for the loss of content. I value all solid contributions to our community and to lose any is supremely disappointing to me. Thank you for your time, patience and understanding. Sincerely, Patrick

Thanks Bob and Brian. Yeah, definitely not July Fool's Day (?). Little did I know what was coming next... -
The Dolphins are terrible. We just can't get it done and we're not really using Bush all that much.

Definitely excited for the Yankees. Can't wait for the postseason. Congrats to Mr. Rivera. What a tremendous accomplishment and unbelievable career. It's great to see a record broken twice semi-recently by two professional ballplayers who haven't been touched by all of the steroid stuff. Mo is the best. I discovered something really amazing the other day. Before the season, 45 ESPN experts predicted the division, wild card, pennant and World Series winners for this season. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview/2011/news/story?page=11expertpicks 45 out of 45 picked them to win the A.L. East. 43 of 45 picked them to win the pennant, which they could still do. 33 of 45 picked them to win the World Series, which they could. It's crazy. They were so heavily favored coming into the season. Patrick

Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. A few hours ago, when I was posting here on KarateForums.com, I noticed that my posts were not being saved. I also found that, after my supposed posts had not gone through, that there hadn't been any posts for a few hours. Though I am not sure, this leads me to believe that there may have been a few hours today where members were not able to post, or where posts acted like they went through, but did not. If that did occur, my hope and general belief is that it wasn't longer than a few hours, as it appears that members were able to post earlier this morning. I apologize for the trouble and for any posts that were attempted that did not go through. Thank you for your time, understanding and support of KarateForums.com. Sincerely, Patrick
