  1. Sorry, I ment JohnnyS, not autor, don't know where that came from......
  2. You said it yourself, it is easy to get carried away with hero worship!. Yes it is, isn't it??. I was not saying that no one can't grab my sifu, I said that it would not be that easy as you guys think it is just because he don't do any MMA or BJJ. Susceptible to take downs coz of stands? Do you really think we just stand there without moving?. Yes, I know that Wing Chun is not the best or "the one and only" or " the biggest and best" out there, compared too you, who seems to have an answer too all with your "worshiped" style/art!. And to this "Master's" excuse who said the UCT tournament (I always forgetting the shortname for the tournament, I'm sorry about that!) was fixed I can say this, He had fought and won a lot of other equally big tournaments, but was refused too fight the grasies or whatever there name is. Why should he lie about this?. And why do you guys every time this comes up says something like Autor here says?. It's to mush of "what if..." to say for a fact that this or that is better, you know that and I know that. I would love too train with other styles/arts and when I have a little more flesh to hang on my little skinny MA bones I'll do just that, arrange a big so called "open mat" or something, not to se what's best, but to open and tear down some walls between other styles/arts. Sounds fun or??.
  3. I have a white Sash w/yellow stripe (Same as a belt I suppose) in Wing Chun Kung Fu and I am 35 years old. "A belt only covers tre inches of your A**, a Sash cover five inches, so you have to cover the rest!"
  4. If you should name just one thing and one thing only of what you like with your style/art, what would it be?. (Nothing bad of others, just one good thing of your own style/art!.). I myself like the chain punch of Wing Chun.
  5. Yeah, maybe, but what did you came across?. No link, no nothing, just that the looked very aggressive. Ehhhh ???. Hmmmmmm.?
  6. Sorry, I've hit the Submit button by misstake.... Try not to chop peoples head off with your argument, coz that is what you do. You don't argue, you putting out a statement and that is whats anoying me. It's all so simple, right?. And it is just you, amazinglly enough, who have discovered that all it takes is a little MMA training and you will beat them all!. See my point here?. This is what you seems to argue with, a statement instead of a good, healthy disscusion. End of line, I'm now hitting Submit (or do a takedown on it if you prefer that )
  7. Like mister Danny "Lethal weapon" Glover says; "I'm too old for this shi*t!". With that I mean I'm to old to fight in a competion, or else you sure as h*ell would find me there, in a ring, just to prove you wrong!. (I'm only kidding with ya ). No, I see your point, but I don't bye it. What you basically is saying is that with little of this and some of this you can beat almost everyone else with ease, but I can tell you this: try it out with my teaher and you will see that this ain't that easy!!. He is so da*n hard and lightning fast that he had you KO'ed before you could get a hold on him, let alone get him to the ground. Se my point?. Yes, Frank Shamrock would rock his bad a** for sure, but that is not my point. My point is that you will have to train allmost twice as long in many arts/styles to beat him no matter what you train, coz he trains tha same amount of time too. To me it seens you guys/girls belive that just by training mixed arts you could beat any other stylist, but you wrong!. It's not that easy!. I've read Combat mag. for april again, just to be sure, and it standing there that some have tried to fight the Grasies (?), but they refuse, coz of money. He also said that UFC ( ?? spelled right ?? ) was "fixed", that really good fighters was left out of the tournament. Maybe this is true, maybe it is't, I don't know, but then again, it's all about the money, right?. Nothing wrong with making money on something you are really good at, but look at pro boxing. No fixfax there, right??. Mr Don Kings or what ever his name are is a swell guy, isn't he??. Then again, it can be politics too.... No hard feelings?.
  8. I basically joined up for Wing Chun coz my son was training there and to get in a little shape, but now I would not change it for anything!. It fits me perfect!. I had always had a great love for MA, spesially for Kung Fu and karate, but my parents would't let me start with karate when I was young, they thought I would become violent or something. But better late than never, so here I am, a fresh White sash with a yellow stripe and 35 years old kung fu artist. Where I live there is a karate club, a TKD club, boxing, judo and a lot of other fighting clubs, but I'll go for Wing Chun ant day. Wing Chun had become a great part of my life, I got some new, great friends and learn something new every time we meet, so life is great!.
  9. So bye the eng. mag Combat for yourself and take a look then!. I'm just sick and tired of the harazment here on KF about all the styles that had not competed in this tournament, like we are nothing compered to you!. See my point?. I'm not disrespecting anyone, just quoting what I read. If you don't believe me, look for your self. You know as well as me that it isn't the style/art/whatever who starts fights, but people, so stop "asuming" that BJJ, MMA or whatever is any better than anything else just by judge it from a tournament, please!.
  10. TJS, what do you know about Wing Chun?. Have you ever tryed it?. Or better, spared with a wing chun fighter?. Or even better than that, do you know anything about boxing at all?. I been looking around the different posts here on the forum a lot latelly and there where no supprice that your name came up all over the place and no supprice too see that you basically know all about every style there is, that is that they don't work offcause!. Except from BJJ, do you have anything good to say about any other style, really??. I personally think you just grabs whatever you know out of thin air or draws conclusions based on some videos you seen. So stop it, please!. It's very anoying to get seriuos treads fooled about all the time, with nothing to show for other than some shoot video of some sort. So wake up and grow up, please!. I have done boxing for 3 years and know for sure that Wing Chun will rip down the boxers defence with a combination of strikes and kicks and that has nothing to do with what the "big guys" has done or how pop boxing are comp. to Wing Chun!. And again, it has nothing to what style/art/whatever, but how you use it!. Are you bad, you loose with whatever and are you good you will win with whatever. Show some respect, OK?.
  11. I wanna spar my main SiFu, mr Garry McKenzie. Just to get a feel of how a real master of wing chun fights like (At least for a very short time, before I'm knocked out!)
  12. Kyle-san, your the best!. Could not said it better myself. It seems to me that a lot of people here looks down on any other style/art that is not a mix and I can't figure out why!. Coz whitout all of the worlds styles/arts it have been no MMA. They have forgoten that it is not the style itself who make people good, but s/he who use the style and this is sad. They actually seems to be thinking that a tournament is a good place to see what style is the best, but the word is that this so called tournaments is a fixed fight, like the american wrestling sort of thing, and that they don't let in really good fighters of other styles. I read this it in the last issue ofCombat Mag, so se for your self. I really don't care, coz I'm still gonna train my good'old traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu no matter what this people say and are more than happy about it to, but I'm starting to get a little tired of this "If you don't do mix, your'e a no good MA!", crap in every tread, no matter what the tread/topic started with in the first place. To the others here, keep up the good work and don't get upset about it, it's just a lack of maturety I think.
  13. The same old discussion of traditional styles vs the allmighty, "the one AND only", "the style of gods" the MMA again? Ohh no!!! . Is this the only thing you MMA guys can write?. "MMA is a lot better coz of this and if you don't believe me, go an se a video!". Man, I'm tired of it!. What about showing some decent respect and at least try to hold the tread?. I don't give a flying fart about MMA, I'm never gonna start with it, coz what I have is more than enough for me, so please stop picking on this al the time here!. The tread was about street fighters, not MMA, Karate, Kung Fu or whatever, so try to keep it this way. A street fighter is anyone that you may meet in the street and who attacks you.
  14. Sorry, I forgot one thing. If I had to fight the gracies in some match or something I'll learn ground fight, BJJ or simular, but the ground fight I had learned in WC is far good enough to get me by in a good old reglular "break some bones" street fights I believe and that's what I'm talking about. I learn self-defence to defend myself, my family and kids, NOT to compete. (Had I started with WC before, when I was a teenager, yes, you would see me in the ring kicking some a**es, but I'm 35 years old now, still fitt to fight, but not compete with it). Nothing beats a good fight, except your nose
  15. The Wing Chun I am about to learn is a very traditional Wing Chun, but it's pretty open to new things to. I know for a fact that they had changed a lot of stuff that was "to old" or of some reason out of date and redefined a lot more to adapt to todays street fights, so don't judge it before you now it all right?. We also learn some ground work, but I personally never had a single fight, and I've had a few fight, believe me, but I'll never ever ended up on the ground. Never!. And you see, that is what counts for me, not some figures from the police. I also think, like KSN Doug says, that it is a lot more to things and styles that some off you on this forum thinks. Let's take the simple forms. Wing Chun have forms. A form is a great way to learn a technique properly. (The secret in Kung Fu is the basics, so master the basic!) Some of you may think that a form is useless and out of date, but it's really good in teaching techniques and the basics. In Wing chun we don't have some six hundred or so different techniques, we only have a few, but that dos not matter, for they work. No fancy moves, just boring, hard hitting, lightning fast kung fu at it's best!. (Yes, I've seen the videos on the net of so called wing chun fighters and yes, I know that even my mother had beaten them up with ease, coz they where only bad excuses off a WC fighter. Even I had done it better, really, spesially at close range!. )
  16. New stuff?. MMA always new??. What are you talking about?. Do you, JIUJITSUFIGHTER, know anything at all about Wing Chun?. Had you seen us train?. No, you have not, or else you would't said it like this. The day I'll pick my MA based on the new stuff they come up with every week, that's the day I'll quit, for sure!!. Evolves you say, but what is evolving?. You learning something today, but it's changes tomorrow, is that what you mean with evolving?. Never learn anything 100% don't sounds like something good to me, but just keep on looking down on everybody else, coz this will be your defeat some day, believe me my friend!. Take a little look around yourself and not as mush on MMA videos and you'll se what I mean!. Have a good training to you to!.
  17. traditional vs mma vs self defense. Traditional vs mma vs self defense. Traditional is ancient... OK, let's assume your right. MMA is developing….. OK. Let’s assume this is right to. Let us then move 15 years into the future, what is MMA now?. Ancient?. Sure there gonna come some “new and developing” stuff that gonna knock the pants off MMA, just wait and see!. Is there gonna be “ancient, traditional MA” (including MMA) in 15 years from now?. Yes, for sure!. Can we still use both “styles” for self defence?. Yes!. So what’s the point saying “My developing style is better than your ancient style”, coz they both be “ancient” in some time and they both works just fine for anybody doing it!. Yes, I do practice “traditional” Wing Chun and yes, I know that’s an “ancient and old” style, nothing compared too MMA off cause, but it works just fine for me no matter what you say!. It has proven that I can hold my own against average Joe in many street fights and that’s enough for me!.
  18. Or try some Wing Chun sticky hands (Chi Sao) fighting. (It’s mush better than boxing in close quarter fighting! I know, cause I done both!!). Sticky hands (Chi Sao) will teach you how to fight very close to an opponent and basically deny him to do anything to you while you hitting/bashing/sweeping him. Wing Chun fighting will also teach you how to avoid the opponents “killing zone” and instead attack him on his “blind zone” and learn how to attack with really fast forward pressure and never give the opponent a “rest” until he rests of natural courses, so to speak. Try it and you will see the diffrence…..
  19. OK. If saying that shootfighting is self-defence are the same as open minded, your right!. What so good about it, then??. Please educate me!.
  20. Why I don’t think shootfighting is any good as self-defense?. It’s a sport, not self defence!. Sport have rules, self-defence has not. And to those of you who say 90% of fights go to the ground and holds that as a good reason to learn shoot fighting, you don’t know what you talking about!. Do you actually think you gonna meet a really good grappler in a street fight?. Do you?. Can you se yourself rolling around in a dark alley, having fun with your attacker while his pals have a good time with you?. Yeay, yeah, bad excuse, you probably had heard that before haven’t you, but I mean it!. I have been in a lot of street fights in my early days, before I did any boxing and MA, and I have NEVER seen a fight going on the ground. This is just bull made up by the promoters of MMA, shootfigthting and it’s like, I think, just to draw people to them from any other style. I think it’s about time to wake up and draw a line between sport and self defence. I do MA for the ability to defend myself, not for sport!. I did sport boxing in my younger days, so I know for a fact that my style is more than good enough for self defence!. If I had meet myself then and know and put up a fight I would probably ripped the head of the younger boxing me with what I know to day, so don’t come and tell me that my style isn’t complete. A style can only be as complete as the user makes it, that’s it!. So basically you can say that the sport aspect doesn’t offend me very mush. Sport is sport and defence is defence for me. Arrest me if I’m wrong!! (I know that Hulk Hogan had nothing to do with shootfighting, he did am. wrestling, right?)
  21. Run-fu, shotgun-fu, maybe some abramtank-fu or B-52-fu?. A style is only as good as it's practitioner, you know that!. Everyone, me included, thinks that they’re style is the best and most complete, right!. I don’t know a thing about any other style, but hey, mine is still the best, so don’t ya say nothing else, ya hear!. Kinda stupid, isn’t it??. I mean, the great majority off us really doesn’t know any other style than the style we practice daily, so basically we should shut-up and hold it for our self, but we just HAD to say it, doesn’t we?. So repeat after me; “My style is only as good as I make it and I really glad there is other styles to practice out there, or else this forum would be a waste!”. Thank you very mush!. PS: Nothing beats my snowball-fu, just come to Norway and I will show you
  22. You said it yourself, shootfighting IS an mix of other arts, or a mix of a lot of styles if you like!. I think it is stupid when they say; “He is a karate fighter” or “He’s style is kung fu” before the shootfight starts, because he ain’t gonna use only one style in the ring, he have to use a mix. I personally look at shootfighting and the rest of the “new breed”, like UFT (Or something), K1 and so on as a show. Sort of like American wrestling or maybe boxing, there they have prearranged fights and the person who wins made the best deal. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I think of it. It’s a lot of money involved here and hey, nothing wrong with making money of something you are good at, i’m not saying that, but “the ultimate……” in front of shootfighting, K1 and so on is just a sales tricks, nothing else. You wanna compete and show off this is OK, be a shootfighting Hulk Hogan, but you wanna defend yourself try something else, maybe some “ultimate” defence of body or something.
  23. You mean how does it feel when beaten up by many people until you almost dead?. Great, it feels great!. I will do it again any day!. With almost no teeth intact, a broken arm and tree broken fingers and with the hole body in pain and balls as big as Canada you realize that you will live, that you made it, your alive!. Yes, that feels great!. What the other guys think I don’t know, so I can’t answer you on what it feels winning a street fight, but I hope they felt great after they succeeded in beating me speechless and I thank them for leaving me still alive!. Yepp, I have just won my self a street fight, but hey, who wanna know my story!. In your eyes I lost it, didn’t I?????
  24. Capoeira is, after what I have seen, basically for show and nothing else!. I sure ass he** won’t be standing in on my hands in a fight while I’m displaying my family jewels, that’s for sure!. What’re gonna do to the attacker, bite him in the leg while he is bashing our balls out off your pants?. Looks kinda fancy, but thats it!. And great for those who wanna play a drum, because U learn that too!. )
  25. I’ve always go in and stop the hook before it hits me by setting my hand against his/hers upper arm. It works great against hooks!. Build a triangle with your arms and ram it between his hook and his neck, then grab his neck and pull his face or stomach in your ramming knee. That’s the Wing Chun way!.
