  1. MMA has no more rules than any other competitive martial art.
  2. I shave before a fight, because there is a lot of "incidental" hairpulling while grappling.
  3. Right now I train in the backyard. Do what you gotta do, I guess. Trent Tiemeyer, Lawrence Kansas
  4. I love subwrestling BECAUSE of the lack of injury. I can compete full contact and rarely leave the mat with anything more serious than a rugburn. I consider wrestling to be the best way to get into fighting shape before an actual fight.
  5. Hey "Ryno", If you think UFC is scripted, GET IN THE RING. You clearly don't know jack about MMA, so don't pretend you do.
  6. I carry a one handed folder at all times, but don't own a firearm.
  7. Toehold from an STF legvine, or a good side kick.
  8. "I don't think you should be calling your vale-tudo jkd though, even jkd has its share of techniques that are unique to it alone." I think true vale tudo fits very neatly into the definition of jeet kune do, even more to an extent than Jun Fan Gung Fu. A true ability to fight from any range, no illegal techniques and truly inspired groundwork. Bruce Lee would be proud.
  9. Those before and after pics will be useful. To the photoshop!
  10. I make it a point to become fast friends with anyone that can relocate my face.
  11. I would be totally merciless until he/they stop fighting back. If he/they quit or are unable to fight, I would remove myself to a safe distance. You don't just fight the antagonist, you fight the law as well. If you soccer kick the guy after he's done, or stomp away after a chokeout, You need to go into the system for a while. _________________ Live to Train Train to Fight Fight to Live

  13. He's pretty well rounded, as a former Sambo Champ. Frank Shamrock once stated that Cung Le could toss him around fairly easily until it went to the ground. But then again, how many fighters can hang with Frank on the ground?
  14. Why is it that someone who trains Karate (just for the sake of argument) for fifteen years will immediately revert to biting and eyegouging when thrown in the pressurecooker? What's all the training for?
  15. If the opportunity to kick someone in the head presents itself, you are a fool not to take it. You should train for all possible scenarios. Consider if you are fighting someone who repeatedly steps in, throws hand combos, and drops his hands as he steps out of range. If you throw hands to set up kicks to set up punches, you will realize that they are all just strikes.
  16. I draw all of my tattoos, and each is unique to me. It is a very spiritual experience.
  17. For all of you dyed in the wool strikers, I recommend learning just enough grappling and defense to allow you to be comfortable throwing your techniques. If you hold back out of fear of the takedown, you may as well lie down for them.
