Do the 52 Blocks really work in a fight? Have you heard of this 52 Blocks? Would you learn this system if it was available for you to learn? What is your opinion of 52 Blocks as a martial art? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wt7R5ZZC210

Combat flow motion mix and transitions. There does come a point after learning techniques theorie and strategies where being oneself is necessary. Is this something you are looking forward to learn or have you already mastered this aspect as a martial artist? How to fight with combat flow (explanation) Duncon Wong vs Cameron Shayne (Improvisational fighting) Natural motion systems (workshop)

Do you have the balance between theory and practice regarding your martial art journey? Is balance between theory and practice necessary? Here is some food for thought on this very subject.

27 karate movements could seem similar to using the alphabet? Would new students to karate benefit from learning these 27 movements?

If I can make a suggestion for those that prefer targeting over controlling, is to control the opponent's balance first, which opens up targets easier; this also makes it difficult to be countered. Controlling the opponent's center of gravity to the Earth, while keeping oneself constantly balanced, might take practice, but well worth developing. The next level to consider, is to not be entirely dependent on being balanced when striking and defending, as situations are usually far from perfect; a superman punch is one example. Attacking and defending with unforeseeable movements or unusual positions can throw off an opponent by being very unpredictable, such as adding bumping and making attacks with blocks and block with strikes; or block simultaneously with two limbs and attack with two, one soft and the other hard... In other words, be an opponent that nobody has trained for, such as controlling and targeting simultaneously.

First time hear Miyagi called Demon; in video. As fixes Daniel-san bicycle and give big yellow car for birthday, Miyagi more like save boy from bad karate teacher and also save his students on wrong path. 5 to 1 odds OK against boy? Too much to ask anyone. Video link against Daniel-san and Miyagi is example of twisting truth, making good look bad and bad look good. As Miyagi Bonsai hobby can be clearly seen as cruelty to trees and shrubs?

20 Precepts of Shotokan Karate As Written by GIchin Funakoshi 1. Karate-do begins with courtesy and ends with rei. 2. There is no first strike in karate. 3. Karate is an aid to justice. 4. First know yourself before attempting to know others. 5. Spirit first, technique second. 6. Always be ready to release your mind. 7. Accidents arise from negligence. 8. Do not think that karate training is only in the dojo. 9. It will take your entire life to learn karate, there is no limit. 10. Put your everyday living into karate and you will find "Myo" (subtle secrets). 11. Karate is like boiling water, if you do not heat it constantly, it will cool. 12. Do not think that you have to win, think rather that you do not have to lose. 13. Victory depends on your ability to distinguish vulnerable points from invulnerable ones. 14. The out come of the battle depends on how you handle weakness and strength. 15. Think of your opponents hands and feet as swords. 16. When you leave home, think that you have numerous opponents waiting for you. 17. Beginners must master low stance and posture, natural body positions are for the advanced 18. Practicing a kata exactly is one thing, engaging in a real fight is another. 19. Do not forget to correctly apply: strength and weakness of power, stretching and contraction of the body, and slowness and speed of techniques. 20. Always think and devise ways to live the precepts of karate-do every day.

Optimum Body Positioning
Alan Armstrong replied to Alan Armstrong's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Here is a little trick from the Wing Chun camp. Very much worthwhile borrowing, no matter your system, style or discipline. With practice, the next level "Flow state" when it all comes together intuitively. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b3L39mgwVGI -
No First strike, could be interpreted as, don't start fights but end them as quick as possibly.

Optimum Body Positioning
Alan Armstrong replied to Alan Armstrong's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I'm surprised sensei8 at the lack of interest about this important topic and disappointed there are not more people posting their views. What would a sniper with a rifle be without positioning? Just a person with a rifle perhaps! In the work place, looking for a better position to get higher pay. In marketing, positioning the product to stand out among the competition. Bruce Lee positioned himself, as the top martial art movie actor. Or position oneself between a rock and a hard place, with not enough room to change your mind; such as being in a headlock. Point being, that positioning is very important to understand and practice at work or at play. Understanding positioning can make the difference between earning more income to being cornered by an opponent, which are just a few examples of many. Optimum body positioning, is where you are better off being in, because all the other alternatives will always be second best. -
Spinning Elbow Flying Knee Sounds like a sequel movie to "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" But it's not. Just highlighting the effectiveness of these two movements. Also how the beauty, of these two hinge synovial joints, supported by two ball joints, can be in a fight. Here is one good example, between Paul Daley vs Brennan Ward FULL FIGHT

Do you regularly practice your 27 karate movements?

First point)In this video: Wing Chun Masterclass by Leo Au Yeung He is doing what you are saying but it is still only a Bong Sao. (Leo Au Yeung is the fight coordinator for the Ip Man movies) ------------------------------------------------------- Second point) Also in the first video link by Sifu Gary Lamb, he explained about the inside bong and outside bong pressure, when cannot go left or right, then go straight ahead (This is using a Bong Sao like a Lan Sao) ------------------------------------------------------ Third point) As the three seeds of Wing Chun is the Taun-Fook-Bong. Lan comes from the Bong seed. Therefore to use a Bong Sao like a Lan Sao doesn't change anything. A Bong Sao is only a reaction movement, that needs to become something, such as transforming into a forward energy Lan Sao for instance. ------------------------------------------------------ Fourth point) How and what advantages does this hybrid of yours have over what already exists? How does this hybrid work better against bigger or faster opponents, or is it something more tactical in nature? Does this hybrid simplify Wing Chun or complicate it?
