  1. i don't know how overweight people do it, but sumo wrestlers can do the splits so it is possible!
  2. welcome!
  3. just duct tape it and spray paint over it. just kidding!! i don't know. maybe your instructor will allow colors?
  4. it is a place where you can be yourself and noone cares as long as you follow the school rules. it's were you call your classmates and instructors your family. where you go to train and not think about the rest of the world. it's definatly a place where you have tons of fun and gain much confindence. it is a place where you learn and teach many things even if you aren't an instructor becuase instructors learn from their students too. it is almost your second home. and no, it doesn't have to be a famous instructor--they may only be known by the people that they instruct for all that i care. and number of years doesn't mean anything either. it is your second home...that is a good school to me. and my school is even better than good.
  5. um, you all need to get over the kids as black belts. just because you didn't reach the goal when you were under the age of ten doesn't mean you should respect those who have. i am sick and tired of people whining and crying about this topic. i know 2 blackbelts under the age of ten and they are more mature than some older teenagers that i know. do deal with it.
  6. hi, welcome
  7. welcome
  8. in my tkd class we do hapkido self defense.
  9. i don't know what to tell you there. my instructor and one of the fellow blackbelts are together and are doing fine. it isn't a big of a deal as you all make it out to be.
  10. definately. you have you to yourself in their shoes. act like you are them. don't concentrate on making them perfect because they have very small attention spans. and as far as hating to help them, you need to get over it. they need someone to teach them too. be the cool instructor that they look up to and want to learn from.
  11. double front jumping spankick. it's awesome. my friend does it. or sizzor kick
  12. that's cool, that's cool
  13. when you are sparring there is the challenging bow where you look your person straight in the eyes, otherwise you are not suppsed to look at the person, unless you are challenging them. a lot of people bow wrong, not from my school, but people at tournaments.
  14. i think it is cute and the instrictor should have told them what they couldn't do if he didn't want kicked in the jimmy. that little boy is my kind of kid!
  15. i don't get it
  16. looks like you had a successful test. nice job.
  17. you might be young and not expierenced but that comes with time. it is hard and will be hard for you to teach certain students certain things even if you have 10 yrs of teaching under your belt. you just can't get angry if someone doesn't understand you and you have to know that you are the boss. good luck!
  18. our blackbelts also have to write an essay on what it means to be a blackbelt before their test. and also know the tenants of tae kwon do, what the colors of the korean flag mean, and the colors in the chung do kwan patch.
  19. the cd that i listen too before i spar is either DMX " then there is X" or ludacris "word of mouf"--both of those cd's really get me in the mood to kick someone in the head.
  20. also, my instructor and someone from my class are dating. it isn't bad either. it is cool.
  21. everyone at my school date other people from there. it isn't a big deal, really. you just can't be boyfriend and girlfriend during class. and at my school the training with each other get rougher if 2 people are together. or it at least stays the same.
  22. we blindfold people too and tell them to do their form(s). only one person goes out on the floor at a time though and everyone watches them.
