I was watching ESPN2 the other night and saw a 540 Hook, which just looked like something out of a video game....

The more you learn the more you see that all the arts are from a common thread.

Most good ones can take days. But then again way to many factors go into it, for one clear answer.

Shouldn't have to tell people outside the ring of your friends.

$30 a test should be the max(aside from Sankyu and higher). $2.35 for the belt. $4.00 for the Cert, and the rest goes for the 2 hours + to test.

You can't expect to getting anyone tech down good in one class, especially begginers and children. Classtime is to open the doors for a tech and to review old ones, but practice and perfection comes with the many hours on your own.

Books should only be used to remember techs, not learn.

Kenpo has a ton of katas. In no means are they meant to be for self defense, and most of the true techs are hidden. For Shodan NCK requires 14 forms. As far as class time You really only need 1 good day a week to learn new stuff once you are past Shodan. Then of course each day you work on your own. Your only as good as your basics, so practice is everything.

I have never taken TKD, but from what I have seen, would say the art has some of the better airial kicks. Just wondering.. How do most of you throw a 540? The way I was taught was the throw a jump spinning inside cresent kick and basically spin a half time more while landing on the kicking foot. Just wanted to know how some of you do it.

There is a good Kensho-Ryu school in Daytona Beach, but that may be to far. The instructor is a first generation Nick Cerio student, and is legit. Hope this helps. Not to sure what lies in the 407 area.... My first post.
