  1. So true I would add that MA is a lifestyle so finding a school where you feel at home - I.e. Good chemistry with the instructor and your classmates is important. The learning aspect along with the social aspect will help you want to go back on a regular basis. I have trained at multiple schools over the years and have developed along the way many friendships that I treasure. For me, this has been as valuable as anything that I've learned in class.
  2. I'm trying it too. Starting slow with two 5 minute stints per day. The first one kicked my tush! But feels great. Are your feet supposed to be parallel or in a slight V formation? The closer to parallel the more uncomfortable pressure I felt in my knees so I adjusted to a slight V. Thoughts?
  3. How long is take for a tree to grow?
  4. My class now has a very strict structure balanced with a very casual atmosphere before and after class. In both cases the instructor has a big heart and truly cares about his students. It's perfect actually.
  5. ^so true. I suspect that he sensed that you have past experience and was either miffed that you weren't up front about it or perhaps he paired you with a black belt to protect his junior students? Regardless, he's the professional and handled it very very poorly. Good luck finding a school. Hope it works out for you!
  6. Thanks!
  7. Hello! I practiced Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, and BJJ for many years. I had kids, took a break for 4 years while I did the marathon and triathlon thing, and have just come back to Martial Arts trying TKD for the very first time. I always wanted to learn. It's like learning a new language. I love it. Of course my background helps but I also just turned 40 so I have aches and pains that I've never had before! Glad to be back in MA and look forward to being a member of the forum. Cheers to all!
