Hello guys, while browsing to read more about kyokushin style, I found this guide which might be interesting for you. http://sbss.it/pdf/kyokushinkai.pdf although it's called "The Ultimate Beginner Guide" but it might be interesting for many people. I wish you enjoy it specially starting from p.31.

It might seem incomplete, but what you're doing is training your embusen muscle memory, even though the darn walls are getting in the way; you'll get to train the order of your steps, so to speak. Find one kihon a day, and train that one kihon, and only THAT kihon. That could be a punch or a kick or a block or a turn/transition, no matter the kihon, concentrate on that one kihon for the entire day. Get to know said kihon!! Do said kihon slowly, paying attention to your posture, your stance, your everything that's involved in doing that said kihon. Build up your speed, but, for now, proper execution of said kihon is paramount. Make sure your hips drive said kihon. Pay close attention to your particular kihon so that it's as exact as it's suppose to be. Be mindful of your kihon at all times!! Take your breaks in your training because too much of something can be quite taxing on ones mind, body, and soul. Stay hydrated at all times. Pay close attention to your body; when it's hurting, stop. Train hard!! Good post

(he is 2nd Dan) 2- Are 3 classes (free classes) enough to assess the instructor and the style if it suits me or not? Thank you guys

Hello Guys, Finally after about 2 months of research and with your helpful and encouraging posts, I have decided to start Kyokushinka by mid January after the Christmas and new year's holidays ... I will have 3 free trial classes in a dojo about 5 minutes walk from my home .... really excited I need your advice for my first class ... what I would expect? how can I assess the dojo and the instructor to decide to continue or not? what to concentrate on? ..... etc Also, can anyone explain to me how can I (with nil knowledge about Karate) train with other guys who have been training for long time and more experienced than me? Thank you

I found this post on Yahoo answers about disadvantages of Kyokushin : " One of Kyokoshins biggest disadvantages in my opinion is the lack of punches or hand techniques to the head at most schools. Yes kicks to the head are allowed, however kicks are generally much easier to see and avoid then punches. I firmly believe the way you train is the way you will fight. Another disadvantage is whether people want to admit it or not, Kyokoshin is definetly more sport oriented, as opposed to most Okinawan styles. Kyokoshin teaches you to stand there and basicly becomes a war of attrition, abnd comes down to whom can take more punishment. Most Okinawan styles teach you to avoid, and resolve the situation as quickly as possible, whether by taking your opponent out, or getting out of there. Another disadvantage ids the lack of knee's, elbows, and grappling, all of which Shotokan contains in it's kata's. I am sure Kyokoshin has them in it's kata's also, but i have yet to see one in their fighting. " Is that true?! .... any comments guys?
