  1. I have a practice of punching/striking about 2000-2500 +300 kicks Strikes per repetition days and striking less on skill set days, ie: dummy forms or two man drills etc. Do any of you split a skills day apart from a striking day? I find the having the knowledge of a set of skills fails compared to executing a handful of techniques for many strict repetitions. Plus the added conditioning helps my hands get used to the impact force and the neuro pathways also must get programed to work in a crisis with all of those reps. Consider the idea of shooting a cowboy gun. As a kid i used to watch Clint Eastwood and copy his quick draw so much that instinctively when i see a revolver i do the motions as if i were Clint blasting fools from the hip. I dont have the skill but my body just does it automatically without thought. So now a Chung Choi or a 123 combo is second nature. Even under attack or retreat im still putting out blasts. Now i need to cut the wasted movement and ill be golden....lol
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pY8uAZgKOs&feature=youtube_gdata_player Hitting my tire dummy and a few ways to shadow box with weapons. Let me know what you think.
  3. I teach in English terms unless i only learned the native tongue of the training. In FMA a lot is in Spanish, but i am Puerto Rican, so score...lol But mostly English, Filipino Tagalog/Spanish and and a bit of Cantonese are the languages of the classes i teach.
  4. Meekness is strength under control. Not cowardice. Turning the cheek is about forgiving a person for their rash treatment of others. Not a lesson in cowardice.
  5. Thank you kind folks.
  6. Ive decided that my students should be able to run theseraces. If they are going to do JKD, Arnis, Kenpo, ....then they should be able to finish a 3.2 mile jog. I train weapons, empty hands, and fitness. So a 5k is a small thing. Not hard at all. You just go left right left until its done. Time is irrelevant. Just finishing is a small boost to confidence for most people.
  7. Yes Sir, weve done 6. Warrior Dash 3x Spartan Sprint 1x Zombie Run 1x And today's Boldrdash. The warrior dashes have the biggest party after. The Spartan has been by far the hardest of all of the runs.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoL7NEHdyHk&feature=youtube_gdata_player I switch up different training because i am a fan of Military style obstacle course. The variety keeps me interested and jazzed up.
  9. My Bride and i finished a 5 k obstacle course called the Boldrdash Race in Westerly RI to help pay for clean up of the damage done during the big storm Sandy. I find that running military style obstacle courses, kind of like the Army Confidence Courses, are a great way to train a much neglected part of combat.....THE CHARGE. Running toward challenges and pushing through adversity is lacking in many of the younger generations. Perhaps it is time that we return to the days when Martial Art included fitness, discipline, and mental toughness in order to solve problems while under stress. Eastford Fisticuffs Guilde will hit a few more mud runs this year. With me pushing 40 i need to remain extra active!
  10. I am making a few Mook Jong so there is a bit of clutter in my garage at present.
  11. Thank you for watching and the compliment. With all things Kali/Arnis we train left and right. It helps to minimize how weak the "weak" side is. My work with the Gladius is purely an Arnisadors way of using the big knife. I had a training room up in the house all winter but come spring me and my weapons were banished to the garage....lol
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwIHVfmfioQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player Poly Gladius with a little bit of Arnis/Eskrima to'it.
  13. I used to love the tonfa from my old Koga days. I havent had a set in years.
  14. I train Jun Fan Gung Fu for a while and look to go more in depth with the Wing Chun in the near future. Until then i study Samuel Kwok and Gary Lam videos very closely.
  15. Hello all, Im Angel Ariz. Been training for about 25 years.
